Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

UK - City Championship Dates 2007/2008 Season

By the way, what format will the cities be in (is it the same for all the CCs) HP-SW?

Who knows the current format is now HP-SW but we should have the next set on or around the middle of February. So we may see a change in what is playable halfway through the CC's?

There are many questions that need answers but we at least have a start now..

Venomex, could to just explain a few things for many of the UK Players/Profs/TOs:
1) Who are you?
2) Why/How have you just taken charge of the situation?
3) How have you organized these CC's?

Because I'm and I'm sure many other people, are kinda confused with whats going on.

I'm confused too on these points...

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

AT LEAST!!!!!!! Somewhere that is easy to get to!

True, although more CCs in the Midlands would be welcome...

Good for us, I am guessing this op manager thingy is also for Ireland like the last one?
If so time to get the HS owner to get us a few CCs over here in Eirean.
One wiered metagame................. 2 sets in like a month was funny btw.

Thanks, sounds like one crazy metagame!

I am not saying it will change!! All I am saying is that it may change after all that will be down to our new OP Manager to sort out amongst all the other things.

Personally I would go with official release dates and then we just about all know where we stand - but that is for venomex to decide..

Ok too answer some of these points (as far as I can at this time)

We have been asked by POP US to take charge of the situation. Beyond that we cannot comment.

I am working my way through the various active TO's in the UK to let you all know what is going on. I know this seems a bit cloak and dagger but the results will be for the better.

What I can say is that I have been around the industry for around 25 years, so not new to OP and have been around TCG style OP for the last 10 years, having dealt with Pokemon very early on then moving to other TCG's. In regards to OP in the UK, I can say plans are in place to make 2008 one of the best ever. Unfortunatly, due to reasons I cannot go into on the boards, we cannot go all out and tell everyone what is being planned for 2008 - yet.

In regards to City Champs, these will be premier events and also please note that I am still contacting TO's so please do not feel that we are ignoring you or have somehow slighted you if you have not been contacted yet. Yes we have a load of new locations, and we have many more leagues starting up, however we will not forget the hard work I have seen over the last few years all the various Prof's and TO's put into OP in the UK. Without this hard work in the past, we would not have had any base to work on in the future!!

Anyone who does want any further information, please PM me you contact details and I will discuss them with you personally (well over the phone at least!!)

Who are you would seem like a reasonable question. Why not answer?

'Cannot comment' : I got very fed up with TpFG always claiming that they were gagged or that it was POP's fault/decision. I was not alone in this.

"Working through..": Why have a favoured few been contacted? An email to all the existing organisers would have avoided a great deal of ill feeling.

You have managed to get my attention but in a negative way  Setting fire to the existing structures/organisers may be the right way to grow OP: But its not a pleasant experience for those that are feeling burnt.:frown:

Ok wanted to add somthing to this and to put some minds at rest.

The reason that these have been posted up is to show that there are new locations for City Championships - this should not have been, and was not intended to be, a slight towards any TO's. If you have run either Battle Roads or previous City Champs, you will be contacted and you will be offered to run an event, as well as giving you a personal update on what is going on.

Also we are not a "one man band" - I have a team of people working very hard at the moment trying to put finishing touches in place for the various plans we have for 2008!

Again, if anyone has any questions regarding this please PM your deatails and I will give you a call to explain.

Thank you

Any chance of CC's north of London and south of the Scottish border? Not everyone can trek down to London to play cards... think Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester and all the other 'cities' across the UK please!!

So 131 Games is south of the border and north of border with Scotland? Manchester and FanBoy 3 are bound to be on the list eventually looking at BRs and CC's from this year and last year - Then there is Hessle - maybe Ben Hargreaves will be running there?

And I am sure Steff will run one in Blackpool, and John will too at Hackney - that's nominally north of the river - So expect more "Northern" CC's.

It does seem that this time we are seeing a soft launch of our new OP, whatever reasons there maybe for it, we don't know.

venomex has told us there will be more, 20 CC's all told, maybe a little more patience is needed by all of us? I know it is going to be hard for us TO's to accept anything we are told by OP Managers; especially given the past history of OP mis-management in the UK.

But, let's give venomex a chance to bed down whatever plans he has and let's hope we can all get a full brief sooner rather than later.. The proof will be in the delivery - but I am sure you will see more CC's delivered north of Watford Gap ..

And remember for the first time ever we have OP in the UK that does not involve Carl Crook - with WotC he oversaw the decline of OP and Pokemon, with TPfG he did the same - now we have a different person in control and that surely has to be a good thing?

I've come off the phone with venomex a few hours ago. I understand the reason you hes not saying much (and i won't go through on here), however I honestly believe that venomex will make the TCG game in the UK the best it has ever been. We are in good hands. I look forward to see everything running and to meet MR. V himself.

On another note:
Brighton CC

I can wait.

But I see the dates so far are all Saturdays/Sundays. If premiere events now have to be on weekends (which iirc is the case in the US) I'm going to need to know that asap.

My venue is in turmoil at the moment, because the roof has been KOd. I will have somewhere come the new year.

Most Premiere Events are normally held on the weekends, however if there is a strong enough case for a weekday event, we can look at this. (PM me with you contact details and I will have a chat!!)

Also a more formal announcement should be made on the whole OP situation shortly (Next couple of days if all goes to plan)

Thanks
