Unown G?

Say I have Unown G attached to one of my benched pokemon and my opponent has Azelf Lv.X active. Deep Balance would normally place 4 damage counters, but would the pokemon with Unown G attached be uneffected from Deep Balance? Or any other attack that places damage counters for that matter?

If they chose a Pokemon with Unown G attached, it would block the placement of damage counters. That is an effect.
