US Nationals 2010

Funny you should mention that, Gorn...I was about to suggest that we "do" have Nationals 2010 in my house! =D

New York, Texas, Florida...Any of those three would be awesome. I just don't want it to be held in St. Louis again.
 
Columbus isn't centrally located either, it's only 10 hours away from the east coast while being like 30-40 hours from the west.

Last time I checked, the location was not something that was up for debate.

The people who concern themselves with administrative responsibilities, event budgets, and logistics do what they do for whatever reason(s) they deem necessary.

I think they are going to try and keep US Nats as close to the center of the country as possible. So ideally the closest to the center that is a major city would be Kansas City, MO. From around Kansas City, MO to the Chesapeake Bay is about 1,000 miles. From Kansas City, MO to San Fransisco Bay is about 1,500. OR Wichita, KS which is about 1,150 miles to the Chesapeake Bay, and about 1,350 miles to San Fransisco Bay. Of those two I would think Kansas City, MO would be a better venue choice because it's convention center is within 2 miles of the Airport and from what I see on Google Earth their are some Food around, most notably a Pizza Hut/Quizno's within 2 blocks and some local places to eat all within a few blocks. Some places to eat or get refreshments all within 5 blocks of the center:
Denny's (1 block)
Starbucks (1 block)
Quiznos (1 and half blocks)
Pizza Hut (1 and half blocks)
Subway (Farthest from the center, would need to drive there, 4 blocks)

What do ya'll think of Kansas City????

That doesn't mean that their minds are closed to some guidence.

Ugh.

Last year was my first Nats, and I really have no desire to go back to St Louis. While I agree that attendance was good and that there were "plenty" of hotels, I disagree with most of the rest of the assessment. The facity was average at best and clearly the rented area was too small. The hotel we stayed at was terrible. Food was problematic pretty much all weekend. If I had any say at all in where Nats is held I would vote for almost anywhere else with apologies to the fine folks who live there. I just can't let this go ... I was really unhappy with St Louis as a destination.

As an east coast person myself I do have to say that it would be nice to have a major event a bit closer to home sometime in the foreseeable future.
 
US Nats must be held on Gilligan's Island.

srsly, it would be cool if they announced early (like soon) where Nats is being held. That would enable folks to work towards the cheapest mode of transportation thus driving up attendance.
 
Has anyone thought of the Cox Convention Center or the Ford Center right next door to each other in Bricktown (downtown OKC)?

There's several (about 6 or 7) hotels that connect to them or are around them, there's several places to eat (Zios, El Chico, Hooters, IHOP, Sonic, a rib place, McDonalds, Toby Kieth's Bar & Grill, etc), there's tons of room in both centers, and it's right in the middle of USA. Not to mention there's also a huge movie theater, the canals, and Redhawks stadium for after-pokemon activities that don't cost an arm and a leg *coughcardinalsgamecough*.

There's also a few HUGE highways that go right next to it.

If you don't live here, you should do better research :)

The Wheeler downtown airport is the one that's 2 minutes away. It does not service commercial jet traffic. Kansas City International, which is where you would all fly in, is 25 minutes northwest. And we have no light rail, so come expecting to rent a car.

Also, our downtown has the same issues as St. Louis did. If Nationals came here, you would want it out south, probably at Overland Park Convention Center. Good safe area, plenty of hotels and restaurants in every price range nearby. Not in the heart of downtown KCMO, where hotels and restaurants are very few and very expensive.

We have done Magic Pro Tour and Grand Prix events at this hall before, so we are certainly not strangers to large-scale gaming tournaments around here. Also, our local vendor is much better.

i hope its close to where i live......oh hey drifblim from supreme victors is a good nidoguen killer it add weaknes and resistance to the bench and i think electrovire x is better than leafon x.......i know machamp and mewtwo well......if restore leafon with garchomp and electrovire hase dialga g on the bench plus suny shore gym sadium is out and plus he hase unkown g on it and yea........my kind of odds lol
