You need to retake earth science :nonono:

Seriously, in the summer, what do we get here? We have maybe 1 tornado that does next to nothing. Maybe 1 major tornado every 10-15 years or so. Other than that, we don't really get anything worth talking about.

I just wish they would decide soon. I usually have the summer vacation plans complete by now. Whatever they do, I hope it's not at the same venue as last year. That was ridiculous how they kept threatening to shut down the tournament because too many people were talking in the aisles. Oh and I ditto the irritation of having no place to eat. Ugh!

What about Nashville--I prefer Columbus because I live there, but thinking of cities outside my own area, I think Nashville would be great. It is inexpensive to visit and is an interesting city, great for an extended vacation. Anyway hope they decide soon. The longer they wait to decide the more it will cost and attendance may suffer.

I vote for Columbus, then I go to my first Nats(was gonna go last year but then they moved it)
Also I wanna go to Origins too and then the rest of family could go.

Okay, aside from the answer "back at Origins where it belongs", here's where I'd like to see it and where I think it will actually end up:

-I'd LIKE to see Nats in Indianapolis. Plenty of nearby hotels, LOTS of food options, still centrally located, plenty of things to do outside of Nats. Hey, if that convention center (and the downtown area in general) can handle 20,000 geeks (GenCon) AND a sold out (approx. 60,000) Colts home game ON THE SAME DAY, then it can handle 2,000 Poke-Peeps (players, families, staff) without missing a beat.

-Where I THINK it will be: St Louis (again) because "it was the only place they could get" and on Origins weekend (also again) because "that's the only day they could get"

1. I agree with Indy. That's a good place to do it for the reasons you said. Lots of stuff right by the convention center.

2. I suspect you're going to be right about St. Louis on Origins weekend. In the absence of good planning, you always return to doing what you did last time.

Sadly, putting it back in St. Louis will have them one step closer from losing a LOT of players. Making us wait this long only to put it back in the same stupid city is unacceptable from a professional company.

I can almost guarantee that nationals will never be at origins again. I do hope that they announce this soon though because it is a little fustrating

That's because it's unprofessional behavior.

Every city has its strengths and its weaknesses.

Call St. Louis "stupid" and we will have words...

Vince

Vince, I am going to go back on some of the things I said earlier about St. Louis. You live in a beautiful city, in some parts. Nats was a GREAT event last year, and that being said if it is held in St. Louis again, I'm not sure I'm going to make the drive.

Last year we booked our hotel in February, and we were only able to go because we got a GREAT rate on a hotel that was about 20 mintues from the convention center. I don't think we'll be able to find such a great rate this year, and I REALLY don't think PUI can fix the major issues we had with the event. Granted, now that I know there's nothing open on the weekend I won't fall for it again. The other major issue I had was long, dreadfully slow-moving lines. TPCi did not have enough staff on hand. As a Professor, I asked to help out and was told "We don't need you." No one was paying attention to the issue that weren't directly tournament related, and when the league line was longer than the convention center was wide for hours(HOURS), well... I lost that lovin' feelin'. It really felt like no one cared about the massive crowd that didn't top cut. Those were my two biggest issues, and both are easily resolved.

I'm not driving 18 hours again without a reasonable expectation for either or those things to be fixed, and I'm sure there's plenty of people who feel similarly. So, St. Louis or not, there were plenty of things that needed to be fixed after TPCi's first standalone US Nationals.

any votes for Lubbock Tx????

No, there's not any votes for Lubbock. I live in Dallas and even I don't want it in Lubbock. Even if you're joking, seeing you post about Lubbock once a page is getting on my nerves.

Anyway, there's really no telling what's going to happen at this point. I do believe, however, that there is a Nationals this year. If they were to cancel it, I think that they would tell us as soon as possible and spare us this topic of high dissatisfaction.

Now where Nationals might be, I have no idea. I don't think it'll be in a previously used venue. If they had chosen such a path, I think that the scheduling would have been easier and we would have had the announcement by now. Of course, there could very well be an external problem that none of us are aware of and throws off any and all speculation.

Come on POP. Seriously, enough is enough. You have the lame video game challenge info out, but no nats dates? Seems like they've over extended and tried to do too much at once. Great... kill off the TCG for the video game. :/
