Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

US Nationals Moved...

Do you think we could somehow get a petition to move it back? I see some holes there though, since much money would be wasted. But still, I liked Origins a lot. It was a nice place in general, and travel expenses were cheap.

I love this. People whine about EVERYTHING POP (and pokemon in general) DOES. EXs? "Oh those cards are terrible". Level Xs? "What a stupid mechanic." Prize support? "We never get enough free scholorships and packs for wasting our time with a hobby of ours." Give me a break. Personally, I found Origins to be a complete joke of an event for the 2 years I went, and most of the people to be utterly weird. I'm glad that it was moved and I'll get to see a new part of the country.

And then there are people like you who think that everything POP does is perfect. Guess what? They have made a lot of bad decisions. They've already ruined the K value for events this year, and now they've messed up Nationals too. Oh well, I guess the POP guys get an extra hour of sleep now.

That's just 'cause you're not weird enough.

Serebii1997J, if opinions solved everything, POP would be very different.

*blinks* i don't get it: for years people have been complaining about having to purchase an origins sitepass to attend US nationals and the other 'scary' gamerz, saying that nats should be stand-alone, a big pokemon event like pokemon rocks america or the 10th anniversary tour events.

...and yet when PUI *does* change US nats to a pokemon-centric event, people are complaining?

DUDE!!!! WHY COMPLAIN... you just saved 50-100 dollars off your orgins event ticket... and let's just be honest, ST Louis> Columbus. the down side... no sword fighting, no Yu Gi Oh, and no demo games, But for a completely free Nationals, no Long line or funny smelling RPG players... it's gonna be great... just think of it as worlds part 1...

i think it's all the new players doing the complaining... the"Established" players are prolly all for it

Well to start with obviously it wasn't that big a problem. Otherwise how do you explain 2007 nationals having about 700 people and 2008 nationals having over 900? Secondly they took Nationals and moved it about 400 miles away from where it was last year.

Drmario, your family has gotten hundreds of dollars worth of prizes for playing a game. There are quite a lot of events in our area that are easy to get to, and Nationals is still much closer than it could have been. You're in a ridiculous position to be complaining from.

No one thinks everything POP does is perfect, not by a longshot. Everyone makes bad decisions sometimes. What matters is whether you try to fix them. Which is what POP is doing.

Save $50 per person on Origins tickets and instead spend all that money on a plane ticket when before you could drive there.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

So since I've won stuff I'm not allowed to complain about what they're doing? And my whole point is that there wasn't anything to fix. Obviously enough people liked nationals how it was or it wouldn't have experienced such phenomenal growth over the past few years.

Not everybody could drive there.
No, but now its farther for almost everyone on the east coast. I just did a quick check on plane tickets before people jump on me for this. It cost $4 more to get a flight from San Diego to Columbus then it does for a flight to St. Louis. My point is that now POP has made it so just about everyone who doesn't want to be in the car for 2 days has and lives on a coast has to drive.

Not everybody could drive there.

This is an issue for St. Louis as well. Plenty of New England, Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern state players could easily drive to Ohio as it is a pretty central location. You're meaning to say that this isn't gimping Ohioans, Pennsylvanians, Michigan players, MD Players, and so on?

Not all of us are rich people who can afford plane tickets, either.

It didn't get moved 400 miles away. It got moved 400 miles closer. You can't argue distance, it is different for everyone. And also, why can't nationals continue to grow by 25-30% at St. Louis? Granted it might not do that this next year due to the economic situation we are in. But still, the only reason this would be argued against that I can see is that some people enjoyed Origins. I personally never saw much outside of it, and no longer have to buy a site badge, or worry about a crowded food hall due to tons of non-pokemon people there. I also think it's a much nicer environment for younger kids.

You should go back and read that again. I said it was moved 400 miles away from where it WAS. I didn't say in relation to where I live. That distance has more than doubled.
