Well from the blurry pictures I've seen the Diamond/Crystal variants weren't that cool looking.
Though it would have indeed created a cool "chase" item for collectors and for those who didn't care not affect them. Other than that from what I've read the fixed "no rarity" is actually a very good move for the TFG here
