Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

US Release

I didn't go to the section were they used to have Pokemon TCG cards on TRU but I did check the Pokemon toy section and didn't see any of them, thats were they should go IMO. However at my game store they had the two starters (no boosters) in stock. I was surprised as I had heard it was delayed until October.

I think its neat/good that there are only 6 different of the single boosters, how much are those anyway? hopefully we start seeing the others soon.

Anyone finding other figs? I'm not sure whether to let my boys buy extras of these for trading or having them save their pennies for when the next batch is released.

Right now those are the only figures out. My local distributor said he should have the 2-pack & 3-pack boosters in the next couple of weeks. :thumb:

If I find the starters, I'll pick up a couple.
Want to show them to the League kids.

Just got the 2 and 3 figure boosters! Our gaming store called to say that they arrived today. So we expanded our collection to now include: Chimchar, Turtwig, Piplup, Trainer Brock, Salamence, Abra (broken base!), Raichu, Marill, Eevee (x2), Lugia, Zangoose, and Ho-oh. Each 3-figure pack also comes with a trainer card in the 'secret' compartment or at least each of our 3 did.

So how "random" is the "mystery" figure on those boosters?

What were the prices of those as well?

The game seems to be heavily advertised, hope it does well and ride the success of the Diamond and Pearl videogames that resparked Pokemon fever.

From the sounds of things, the non-mystery figures are picked from a specific limited group of figures....given that, I'd say that there *is* figure rarity, even if it's not acknowledged.

Sorry, I forgot to put the prices! The 2-figure booster was $7.99 and the 3-figure booster was $10.99. We did not have any mystery duplicates in the 6 packs that we opened (3 2-fig and 3 3-fig) but one of the mysteries was Mudkip which we had bought as a single-booster last week. The other mystery figures we found were - Brock, Abra, Marill, Raichu, and Spearow. We also ended with 2 Eevess but that was just how we selected because both of them were visible in the packs we bought. We did get a trainer card in each 2-fig and 3-fig booster. My husband picked them up at the store so I'm not sure how careful he was to avoid duplicates, etc. or if he just picked up what he could.

Has anyone else had a broken figure? I'm not really upset as we only got one bad fig in all the ones we bought but my son would like to use him. The pin on the clear spinning base has broken off inside the fig so it will not spin and the broken pin is stuck in the fig so we cannot just put it on a different base. It was this way right out of the packaging. Any ideas how to fix it? I sent an email to customer service at go-pokemon too.

Skarmory is our most frequent broken figure. Spearow is a 'breaker' too.

Meowth has brittle bones.

I finally found one of the starter sets today. They've trickled into Walmart. 14.99 for the starters. I picked up the Red trainer set. I have gatr from a pack I picked up at nats over the summer. But I was looking and a couple of the charizards were actually broken in the package. the figure had completely broken off the base. It makes me wonder if they actually did try and make the US release figures better quality. I am eager to start collecting these when I see more of them.

I wonder if the problem there isn't necessarily the quality of the figures, but poor handling by distributors and stores. I'd imagine that a Wal-Mart isn't necessarily used to having such fragile items on its shelves in relatively light packaging. Wouldn't be very hard to break them if they're not handling the cartons with care.

My Lugia's base had its pole thing stuck in the hole in the bottom of the figure. Well, it was the only defect I got, the others were good.

AT the Pokemon league I go to (They sell out of the kits each week) we play with them there and I have seen a lot of them coming out broke or being broken when they spin them the wrong way....Poor Ho-oh and Lugia...
I am happy to say I have not got any bad ones....
