Woooo Hoooo ANDREA!!! way to go!! Nice numbers!!

Got some Colorado players here in New Mexico looking for those updates Thanks so much for posting Live updates!!

no, i don't know what decks are being played, really, I've been here at the table running the software with Andrea all day

apparently the post from my phone didn't make it on... we had to leave like immediately after the Masters finished, and I had already packed away my notebook at that time

Noelle won in the Juniors, I don't remember who won in the Seniors I had to leave for a little bit when that announcement was made. Masters was down to Josh and Michael in the final round, and Josh won at the end.

(note, it was a long day last night, my remembering names may be fuzzy. It was a Utah player vs Michael, and the Utah player won)

Noelle won in juniors
Brandon, one of our newer players won seniors
Final 2 masters were Ian and Josh, and Josh won by the skin of his teeth. It was a fantastic match.
Utah keeps their trophies, again!:thumb:

Thanks everyone for coming, hope all had a great time. Bretton, Ian, Jery, Mike, Steve, it was great to see you. We'll see you in CO in a month for regionals.
Final numbers
61 masters
30 seniors
19 juniors
total 110 our biggest states ever!

In the semis, MichaeP from CO conceded to his friend IanB because Michael already won the CO States. Michael played GG-killer (Banette-tech), and would've beaten Ian (GG-tech) and probably Josh too (GG-different-tech). But, we'll never know.

There was a huge cheer and sigh of relief when Josh beat Ian in the close 3rd game. Josh played brilliantly to come back using Absol-donk. Josh discarded Ian's main tech, and because Ian had no recycle ability, Josh was able to comeback after being down 4 prizes to Ian's last prize.

Good turnout UT!

Only 1 slop. Breton's game-loss penalty in the quarter-finals was too harsh. I would've spoken up and been his advocate if I'd known the nature of the penalty. Originally, I thought Bret forgot his prizes. As it turns out, he layed 7 prizes in stead of 6. When he went to grab a prize, he noticed the mistake and informed the judge. Easy to unwind, easy to fix. The judge thought it was too disrupting to the game state and the game had progressed too far, so he issued a game loss penalty. Bret was easily ahead in that first game when the game-loss came, easily won the second game, but was down 1 prize in the third game when time was called, but probably would've won that game. Oh well, lesson learned for Bret. He's not bitter. Simba's a great judge. I just think he might have equated this penalty to "forgetting prizes," which of course is completely different.

Props to HJ Simba regardless of my difference in opinion in what penalty should've been given. :thumb:

I agree that Breton's penalty was harsh. But the 7 prizes were not noticed until he had already taken two. The third game was completely finished before time was called with Breton's opponent the clear victor. But it is really too bad that his punishment was so harsh.

As proved in the Masters final, "It over til it's over." To say Bret's opponent was the "clear victor" in an unfinished game is purely a guess. GG is too much a comeback deck.

7 prizes is a disadvantage, not an advantage, even for Gallade. If anything, the penalty should've been a caution/warning and a requirement to continue playing with 7 prizes (reverse prize-take penalty), disallowing the last one to be turned over by Gallade's attack.

Do remember, in days gone by, there was a prize-swap penalty. I've seen players play with 7 prizes due to that penalty. 7 prizes is a disadvantage. In my opinion, it's even re-windable (return a random prize to the deck).

Regardless, the judging was very good.

I agree with you, without the pize problem he would have won easily, but the last game was not unfinished. Bret's opponent won by drawing all six prizes while he still had two or three left. Again regardless, it was good judging. It was nice to have so many Colorado players there.

Really, Bret told me he was called on time in the last game. Oh well, it should've never gotten to the last game.

One of these days.... We'll get that coveted UT States trophy.
