Choosing your attacks for your Pokemon can be a very antangonizing process. You obviously want to choose the best attacks that will earn an easy victory however in my experience with 2-on-2 play. Designing attacks are becoming more critical than ever. This lesson could go on forever in different attack strategies so I am simply going to go over the three basic kinds of attack strategies, basic offensive, basic defensive, and complex.

Basic Offensive
The key to winning a battle is knocking out your opponent's Pokemon. So most likely you are definitely going to want to have attacks to each of your Pokemon on your team that will do damage to your Pokemon. In VG Nationals you are really going to want to focus your basic attacks to attack both of your opponent's active Pokemon, attacks like Earthquake, Eruption, Water Spout, Surf, Blizzard, Swift, Razor Leaf, are all great attacks to consider for each of your different Pokemon. It is best if each of your Pokemon have an attack that is the same type as their type for the same-type bonus multiplier.

Basic Defensive
A good offensive can be in defense however good defensive moves are often difficult in LV.100 battles. Remember that recovery moves like Recover and Rest can literally give you another Pokemon to work with in some respects but use such moves wisely. For example, Recover only restores 1/2 of the users HP each turn, you will not win the battle if your opponent attacks with attack that knocks more than half of maximum HP off of the Pokemon. You'll do better switching out or actually going on the offensive for as long as possible.

Complex Strategies
There are many complex strategies that will leave your opponent frustrated. However most of them are risky. Some teams can often win battles by focusing on one attack like Explosion or Fissure (if you got the guts). However you often need good defensives in order to compensate for such risky moves. Also if you are more clever than your opponent you can really take advantage with moves like Counter or Mirror Coat. Also force your opponent to stress over their Pokemon by using attacks like Destiny Bond or Perish Song.

What attacks you put together is your decision but this lesson will give you insight to what to consider in order to gain a very huge lead against your opponents. Best wishes and see ya next time.
