TCG Battle Videos

Earlier this year I bought an expensive camera and love taking photos, knowing that it can record in high definition I have decided to combine my two loves and record my playtesting and battle videos of Pokemon. I am new to cinematography and also very unexperienced with the editing software, so undoubtedly I will get better over time. This is where you come in.... I am in need of people to watch my videos and give me some advice, both here and in the comments section of my videos so I can improve in all aspects of creating these videos. If you want to subscribe feel free, I am not doing this for views, it is mostly a personal thing to document my playing to help me improve in Pokemon and in video editing/filming, it would be nice to have some people follow along in the process though. Any advice is much appreciated!

Check it out if you want to, if you create videos too please let me know so I can take a look, I really cannot find too many people online.

Thanks in advance for the support and advice,
Misnos

Here is my Channel where I also do some battle videos:

I have found that, speeding up the game play helps 1: cut down video time/memory, 2: helps the audience not get bored as quick.

I tried putting music on the videos instead of the speed ed up voices, but I liked the idea of commentating the matches to help guide people who might be browsing other things on different tabs, and also new people.

I'm glad you're taking interest in battle vids!

Thanks for the link,

I think for the longer videos speeding it up is a great idea, thats the type of insight I was looking for!

I subscribed to your channel you have great commentary.

Cool channel, the music can be nice for the long ones, they can get a little lengthy for narration.

Gonna try and recored in 1080 today and see how that works out.

A new video has been uploaded, and one is in the process as we speak.

My friend and I also run a small Pokemon TCG channel (link is sig'd). We're just starting it, though, so videos and stuff are still a bit "ehhhh." Any advice would be appreciated. :)

This is slightly off-topic but,,,
If I brought a small camera to a battle roads tournament, would I be allowed to film my matches, or is that against the rules?

1) You should always ask permission (Opponent(s), Tournament Organizer)
2) The video should not be shown to anyone but you during the course of the tournament.

I think those are pretty much the two "rules", as long as people are comfortable with that, then you have their permission to film. The 2nd one is so that no one gets a advantage/disadvantage from seeing the video.

most likely not, as most electronic devices are prohibited from the play area (minor exclusions for watches and phones as long as they are not used for transmission eg. text or calling.)

Ya I dont think filming at an event is going to be allowed, they would not even let me take photos at Regionals because of the minors in the room.

Any ideas for the channel? anything you guys would like to see?

New Videos are being uploaded now, one is already there.

Its a match of 3 games Reshiram VS Zekrom.

Then the Zekrom deck analysis is on the way tonight.

I have been interested in doing game plays with people, but I lack the camera and the consistent person to do it with. :'(

They are so fun and rewarding to make. We look back and see our misplays or other options that we dont see while playing. Its also fun to look at the other players hand and remember what you were thinking they may ahve had and compare it to what they actually had.

I would like to increase the quality but my camera requires a much faster SDHC card, Despite me having a good card, for 1080p my camera needs a 30mb/s card which Ill try and buy in the near future.

The videos I have posted are only in 480 quality, any cheap camera can handle that now with a 10$ SD card. If you have even a still digital camera it will probably get the job done! I would recommend trying it out if you ahve the means.

Also just uploaded a video with Donphan/Machamp vs Reshiram.

Donphan/Machamp looks promising.

Ok, if I do, I want to know which decks to use:
yanmega/magnezone
emboar reshiram
typhlosion reshiram
donphan machamp
Chinchino/zorark.
