Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Vileplume ________

Okay so... I've been noticing lately that a lot of _____ + Vileplume or Vileplume + ______. WELL, I believe that this pokemon pretty much owns the meta game other than SP's (but still even then). I would like to just say that pairing with something that you think would be a good idea would only be a good idea if you know the strengths and weaknesses of your vileplume pair. Just make sure that you know you can get Vileplume back from the active position and make sure that your vileplume pair will be buff enough to not get OHKO'ed or can OHKO / disrupt your opponent.
Happy Vileplume pairing!

So far we have:

Vilegar
Vilechamp
Vilepluff
Viledra (Kingdra)
Vilegon (Flygon)
Vileawesome (Bellossom)
Vilephan
Vilezone
Vilelostgar

that's what i can think of.

Literally THE only deck that has had some sort of success that runs Vileplume is Vilegar. Any other Vileplume variant is supbar at most.

You know, you don't HAVE to start a thread just because some random thing pops up into your head. But- thank you so much for telling us to use Warp energy with Vileplume. I love you.

At Swedish States this deck made to topcut
Garchomp SV/Ampharos/Vileplume/Nidoqueen/Entei&Raikou Legend 4-3 8. place

The biggest issue with Vileplume is that it makes your entire deck slow. That's not an issue if you have a good start or your opponent has a bad one. Once you set up you are good. However with a bad start or if your opponent can get your Plume early the lack of speed will result in a loss against most other decks.

I've won a CC going undefeated on the day with a Vileplume based deck. I had mostly good starts that event. I've also gone 2-3 with the same list on a day when either my starts weren't so strong or my opponents managed to disrupt me early. That's the risk you take.

Strenght of start is also one reason that VileGar is one of the most successful variants. Being able to trainer lock on your Gastly starts is huge. Having free retreat with Q or Hauntar also gives you more good starting options.

^I'm Guessing you like Hippowdon RR allot (hence your name Hippowdon SaveSand)
and I'm sure that Hippoplume would not work (not so sure the name works either, maybe Viledon).

As mentioned before, the biggest reason why vileplume does well is because of good starts. I won a battle roads with Jumpluff/Vileplume, but I consistently got good starts. Also, my top 2 opponent was a turbo champ, and I started with spiritomb in both games.

So yeah, vileplume is usually luck based.

^how is that? I beleave you that Vileplume has bad starts (I run Viletar), but I just wonder why it usally has bad starts

Hmm. I'm not sure anyone said that it usually has bad starts. It's just that you must start with Spiritomb & either another basic, Call Energy, or Collector to really have a good start. Lone spiritomb gets you nothing. Starting anything other than Spiritomb or Gastly usually means that your opponent gets a turn or more of trainers. That's probably all they need to set up.

The reason that Vileplume based decks dont always have the best starts is because it is focussing on to heavy stage 2 lines without Claydol.

Yup and trying to get 2 stage 2's out with 4 catcher in every deck will make the consistency even worse.
