Vileplume

What does everyone think of the Vileplume deck in general?

Do you think this deck will be the dark horse and will suddenly take over cities?

Here is the translation of this card

Vileplume – Grass – HP140
Stage 2 – Evolves from Gloom
Ability: Allergy Panic
As long as this Pokemon is in play, all Weaknesses are x4.

[G][C][C][C] Pollen Spray: 50 damage. The Defending Pokemon is now Poisoned and Asleep.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: Water (-20)
Retreat: 3

I think it will see play. When Landorus ex comes out, Pokemon that can do 30 for 1 with it are going to be strong. It will be the new X-Corners deck for sure.

Even without Landorus, you can use Terrakion-EX or Stunfisk to hit for heavy fighting damage. I also like the idea of Zekrom, Virizion, Bellossom, Mewtwo, and Rayquaza in a Vileplume deck.

I'd be careful about saying, "The Vileplume deck." I'm sure there will be untold variations of stuff and things with this card. It seems very, very good to me.

Personally, I see it best with:
Rayquaza, Virizion, Landorus (Terrakion EX?), insert other low-energy/moderate damage attackers.

Also, I doubt it would ever be competitive, but assuming Darkrai stays extremely popular, a fun deck could be Baltoy/Claydol (DEX)/Vileplume, so you get moderate first turn disruption and then hit Dark/Electric types for heavy damage turn two. Just fun musings : ).

I don't see this deck having a future. It has many many flaws. Everything in the deck has a huge retreat cost. This enables bad starts and makes catcher stalling work magic. Late game the deck in question can't do very much without vileplumes aid. Vileplume is a stage 2, so it won't come out easy and certainly not over and over again. It will also consume a lot of deck space and needs space for many attaclers. Every deck next format will have a healthy option for ohkoing vileplume over and over again.

I wanna try it with the following pokemon:

Mewtwo EX
Landorus EX
Virizion
Rayquaza DV

Each can hit for 1 or 2 Energy for exceptional damage. Trouble is, these guys are weak to increasingly popular types and Vileplume works for both sides. Virizion's weakness to Fire isn't that common, but there are those who come outta nowhere with a Ho-oh deck or Entei deck. I currently run a Ho-oh deck so i guess i would be one of those people . Also even with out the 4x damage each one can donk fairly easily. So i think a Vileplume deck will most certainly be competitive, hitting all major pokemon for weakness (Mewtwo and Mew, Eels and Darkrai, Keldeo and Terrakions, and of course Garchomp and Hydreigon)

try to play as few EX's as possible. Definitely no Mewtwo, wayyyy too easy to OHKO.

Landorus, maybe a Keldeo.

How about no EX's at all. From what we can expect the format to possibly be for cities (darkrai varients, eel varients, and blastoise varients), stunfisk, virizion, and shiny rayquaza are the top 3 pokemon to use. Really it's a very splashable deck that will probably be good if played by someone who really knows their meta.

You have 3 different attackers with comepetly different types. It would be silly to waste the deck space for a 2-1-2 line or 1-0-1 line, just so your Pokemon don't take the x4 weakness when they will most likely get KOed anyways.

The main attackers you will probably see in the deck are

1) Meleotta: Mewtwo ex/Siglyph/Mew ex counter

2) Rayquaza (Shiny) DRX: Counters Garchomp variants, one shots Rayquaza ex (PP), Hydreigon DRX

3) Stunkfish/Landorus ex: Counters Eelektrik varients and Darkrai varients somewhat.

4) Virizion NVI: Shuts down Blastoise/Keldeo hard, thanks to the x4 weak to grass and -20 resistance. It also counters Terrakion NVI very nicely and one shots Terrakion ex with a plus power.

5) Basculin is an optional tech to throw in there if you are seeing alot of people running Ho-Oh in your area. I would highly reccomend putting 1 Basculin in the deck, if you were to counter the Ho-Oh deck

Most likely, the list would be running probably 3 Virizion NVI, 2 of each attacker (except for Basculin).

As I said before, it completely depends on your meta. The only people who will really perform with this deck are the ones who know their local meta to perfection. And Hammers kill this deck, it's pretty much an autoloss because of the insane amount of special energies that you will be playing.

I like the idea of an Eeveelutions deck with Vileplume, aggroing Leafeon since its attack also accels energy. Maybe pair it with Lando EX or Sawk BW for fighting coverage as well.

Or heck, just run aerodactyl and use that for the fighting cover

I was gonna test it out with Meleotta or Siglyph for mewtwos, stunkfish, virizion, bellossom, rayquaza* and reshiram for mirrors and then probably max switch and pluspower

Don't waste your time it will not work. Plume w/ basic attackers is a tight fit. How do you expect to fit stage one attackers in over basics that are all better than the eeveelutions?

As for the poster above, meleotta over sig for m2 and bellossom is a waste of space.

Mine Vileplume Deck List

well i made a vileplume deck it is very fun when it works (dont worry about getting vileplume because i always get it 2-5 turn)
anyway here it is
15 pokemon
1 virizion (for keldeo and draw)
1 mewtwo (if i do not have vileplume and i need to kill psychic pokemon i love it because of its surprise they have a psychic pokemon out i send out mewtwo dce and switch/retreat death with vileplume)
1 reshiram (the only fire pokemon that is good)
terrakion ex (i use him mostly for his first abilty 50x4 is 200)
1 darkrai (retreat with prism or blend)
1 keldeo (i like him because a prism and double colorless is 50x4 is 200 and RUSH IN)
1 siglyph or bouflant (ex killers (i like siglyph to stall and put energy in the back and bouflant is a tank)
4 oddish
3 vileplume
1 mew (all you pokemon moves can be copyed)
1 zekrom ex/zekrom/zapdos (i like zapdos the best 3 colorless for random spark 50 damadge to anyone)
16 items
4 pokemon catchers
2 pokemon communication
2 ultra ball
2 float stones
1 switch
1 scramble switch or computer switch
4 rare candys
11 supporters
3 professor junipers
4 ns
4 skylas
15 energy
4 DCE
4 Prism Energy
4 blend energy (grass dark fire psychic)
3 any basic energy

now you have 3 cards left to put in whatever you want i like putting in more pokemon (eg. another terrakion ex another zapdos/zekrom/zekrom ex etc. so if they kill one of your fighting pokemon you are not ruined against a dark pokemon)

---------- Post added 05/02/2013 at 06:45 PM ----------

i am thinking of taking away mew and darkrai to put two pokemon (+ the 3 cards i was missing) of the best for weaknesses types (excluding steel dark colorless and i was thinking about putting a raquazya and i decided no one plays dragon pokemon) (psychic grass water maybe fire eletric and fighting) so put another virizion terakion ex zapdos/zekrom/zekrom ex reshiram and maybe another keldeo

I wonder if Vileplume could be good with the new plasma engine. The energy acceleration (colress machine) combined with easy damage boosting (deoxys) should make it easy to do 50 damage out of the blue..
Thundurus can take out lightning weak pokemon while powering your other pokemon.
Kyurem can take down water weak foes like Landorus and any fire pokemon you encounter.
Deoxys already owns psychic weak pokemon at it is.
Landorus w plasma badge owns any fighting weak pokemon (adios Darkrai and Thundurus!).

The problem, there may not be enough space for all the cards it would need, but it would be fun to try.

i made a plasma freeze hypnotoxic lasers which i think may become a really good deck in this metagame i love the deck but i never thought of merging the decks (taking out hypnotoxic lasers of course)
