Slops for the event:
*Undefeated being paired down in last round
*Javier called my deck "Electric Barney."
*The LL not playing on his home turf
*Me misplaying in top cut.
Yes, I know that decision surprised a lot of people there, but there's a few reasons for that.
1. I didn't really have the time to prepare my deck. Between work, spending time with my family, and playing The Beatles Rock Band, I didn't have a whole lot of free time. I did bring the deck I was planning on playing, but after a few 'for fun' games, I realized I probably made the right decision.
2. I actually wanted to see how my Masters division League players would fare against other decks that didn't involve a certain UFO-like Pokemon. (yes, I've been playing that thing since Regionals! If anyone can guess the Pokemon, you're in the zone!)
Other than that, I was actually pleased with the turnout. I was also very impressed by one of my League players, Matt S., who held his own against Luke R. in the final round, but lost, unfortunately. This was his very first premier event, and to have him go into overtime against a player like Luke with one prize left each really surprised me. Had Matt's Honchkrow G not been prized, he probably would have won.
Hopefully I'll be more prepared and ready to play at Warrenton, that is, If I go.
