Ronae's at work but I can clear up some of the questions (Once you are married to someone for 20 years you start to understand their thought process).
If you remember back to last year the volunteers/staff wear decked out in one of three outfits: The judges wore the "stunning" striped shirts (much better outfits coming this year), the full-time staff wore cream-colored shirts, and the on-site volunteers wore blue t-shirts. Ronae is in charge of finding and filling the on-site volunteer slots.
These tasks will vary greatly in the level of responsibility and time/effort required. The taks may be as simple as crowd control during registration ("10&Unders to the left. 15&Ups to the right") or as complicated as being the keeper of the Mystic Tickets ("they're mine, ALL mine!!!").
They can be as short-term as fetching lunches for the staff (No wait, that's Dave's job) to manning the Create-a-Card area all day.
With last year's experience behind us Ronae and PUI have a better feel for the types and number of volunteers needed but there will be pop-up requirements ("Ronae, there's 300 kids in the Beanbag room, can you find a couple of volunteers to help watch them?").
As for some of the other questions, No, you don't have to be a Professor (or an adult), you just have to be willing to help. Ronae is making a list of potential volunteers based on your PMs and will work to fill the slots based upon everyone's availability and talents. Hopefully her PM box will not overflow before she makes it home. Check in with Ronae at the Guest Services desk in the Foyer and she will let you know if/how you can help.
