Was Ursaring a strong card during the pre-release?

Ursaring - Colorless - HP80
Stage 1: Evolves from Teddiursa

Poke Body - Intimidating Presence
As long as Ursaring is your active Pokemon, your opponent's basic Pokemon can't attack or use Poke Powers.

[C][C] Drag Off - 20 damage. Before doing damage, you may switch one of your opponent's benched Pokemon with the defending Pokemon. Do 20 damage to the new defending Pokemon. Your opponent chooses the defending Pokemon to switch.
[C][C][C] Rock Smash - 40 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 40 damage plus 20 more damage.

Weakness - Fighting
Resistance - none
Retreat - 2

what i noticed during pre-releases are the lack of evolve pokemon. most players rely on using high damaging basics and using weakness to their advantage. just wondering if anyone on the pre-release used ursaring? and can it be described as a must have during the pre-release?

discuss thanks :thumb:

Ursaring was used quite well by Dom at our pre-release, but he used its drag off attack to drag out a high retreat pokemon and then used hitmonlee to stretch-kick their bench to death, he still lost like every game though XD

Aww, poor dommykins.

Over here, everyone with Quagsire had some sort of advantage, but in 15+ someone with 2-1-1 gatr EX won the PR.

edit: There was only 1 ursaring I think, and it wasnt that strong after all, with all those fighting pokemon around (pupitars, hitmon____'s)

If it wasn't for Ursaring, I wouldn't have gone 1-3(and the win was a bye, lol.)

All of the Hitmon line can't attack it, Quagsire can, but I only had a 1-1 line of it.

So, it was pretty good.

but tyrouges a rare, i think? so are the hitmons...
Anyway, i got a 2-2 line, and yes, they are awesome. I lost a few times, tho, to unlucky flips (especially on ursa's rock smash, i didnt flip heads the entire day on that) and a t2 espeon ex...
The only thing that hurts Ursa is the lack of ability to do 50 in one hit w/o a flip. There are a lot of 50 hp basics...and that was unfortunate in some games.

yea, just noticed that =/
(apparantly got 5 baby rares out of 6 boosters >_<)
but isnt ursaring holo rare too?

A great card at pres was the hitmon family
there power is very good if you have tyrogue and it just works well.
Ursuring wasnt used much at my prerelease.

I went 3-2 and won the side event. Hardly call that losing every game =/

My brother went 3-2 ( 8th seed ) and made finals Vs the 7th seed who also went 3-2 with a 2-2-1 Typhlosion-Ex line...7th seed won.

But his main attacker was Shuckle..he drafted 2 of them and abused them to death, he also drafted a 2-1-1 bellossom, 1-1 quagsire ( good draft card ) and a hitmonchan....As for Ursaring...I didnt see one but of course we had a 130+ ppl so it was very hard to see all decks/matches

I did not see Ursaring. I would have been lucky. I had multiple evolves so that would have helped. I had Octillary, Noctowl, Porygon 2, Polywhirl and 2 others but forgot them because I never played them.

I lost to Ursaring twice, cos I only used basics in my second pre-release deck. I had a Tyrogue/Hitmontop as well, but I realised AFTER I played Ursaring, that I couldn't even have evolved my Tyrogue. I mean, Tyroque can't evolve without its power, right? You can't just put the basic Hitmonlee on top of Tyrogue WITHOUT using the power :/

And Ursaring shuts down that power :/ So I couldn't have played Hitmonlee on top of Tyrogue anyway... (Which I mistakenly did... But I lost anyway, so hey :p)

Ursaring only shuts down your opponent's powers.

Ursaring only shuts down your opponent's powers.

That's what I'm saying. I mistakenly evolved a Tyroque into a Hitmontop while playing against an Ursaring, not after I played an Ursaring of my own ^^. I wasn't allowed to evolve Tyrogue, since Tyrogue only evolves with its power (which was shut down).

I won my pre with a 1-1 ursaring line lol. Got it out turn 2-4 every game except one. Played against two all basic decks too :D
