Water Rescue & Shadow Room

Hi there,

I would appreciate a quick clarification on this scenario : Player A is attacking with Kingdra and Floatzel GL Lv X in the bench , and Player B is attacking with Gengar. Player B knocks out a Kingdra with Shadow Room and Kingdra goes to the discard pile. Does player A get to pick up Kingdra and things back to his hand ?

I suspect the answer but I want to make sure as my kid thinks otherwise . Appreciate in advance your help.

It has to be KO'd by damage.
Shadow Room doesn't do damage, it places damage counters.
Water Rescue cannot be used.
