This has got to be one of the worst mindnumbingly bad songs I've ever heard in my life. How can anyone one justify this as music? The first part is fairly catchy, but then it's like the idiot who was writing it just ran out of ideas and decided to repeat the 1 part a million times until you never want to hear it again. There's no variation, no interesting harmonies, just this really annoying beeping noise.

People who write "music" like this should be shot... or at least forced to actually listen to it, again, and again, and again, and again... :D

I could not agree more. The song is on the verge of repulsive.

"Single Ladies" was a #1 song.

Sox, come on. You're better than this. :p

Seriously, it just goes to show how far the quality of music has dropped when people think this is "pretty good".

meh, I enjoy electronic music. It's not really for listening to directly but its great for background music for doing other things. Just catchy background noise.

obviously not for everyone though lol

That's ok. Still, this is terrible background music anyway. What makes it horrible is that there is NO variation. It's like a broken record. It just plays the same thing again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again..........

You get the idea.

Good background music will at least have variation in it. It won't feel like you got stuck in this horrific endless loop of a very poorly made beeping sound.

People nowadays have the mindset that if they don't like a certain kind of music, it's bad.

What makes music good?

In my opinion, if people enjoy listening to it, why would you consider it bad?

That's just my opinion. Also the song is kinda cool.

Actually, there is a "formula" of sorts for what good music is. (I'm not going to go into it. It's far too advanced for most people here to actually understand) So, it's actually not up to opinion. In music, there is a definite right way to do something, and a definite wrong way to do something. This song is a prime example of how to do something right for a very brief period of time, and then do it completely wrong.

Why do people enjoy listening to it? I'll give a brief explanation of why people tolerate such junk:

Have you ever had to eat really bland food for a decent period of time? After a few weeks of raman, that McDonalds burger is going to taste like the best thing you've ever eaten. However, when you compare that burger to a steak from a 4 star restaurant, that burger really isn't all that great. In fact, it's pretty much complete and total garbage.

This is pretty much what has happened with the music industry. They have been pushing out (and doing an excellent job of advertising it to boot) such an enormous load of junk, people have forgotten what good music actually is. It is a sad day when all that is needed to qualify a song as good is a catchy rhythm, and a 3 note melody that repeats it's self for the whole song. Both of which any wanabee pop star could do in their sleep. We made so many advances in music over the past several hundred years, and I'm afraid to say that popular music has been rapidly declining in quality if this is what is now deemed as a good song. We have great advances in music and style with Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Gershwin, Chopin, Copland, Elvis, The Beetles (though they were over rated), etc, etc.... all making amazing contributions to music. What do we have now? A bunch of uneducated, uncultured people who are ignorant of how music even works, saying that the current junk that is pushed out is somehow good because people listen to it. Sorry, but people do a lot of stupid things. /end rant

DP, never, ever misspell the name of the Fab Four. It's Beatles, with the musical pun in the name.

One reason why I don't listen to pop music very much anymore. There's no actual music in there. I yearn for the days of Elton John and Billy Joel and the Beatles and even AC/DC and the Stones (who I hate tremendously). People who actually understand their music and play their own instruments rather than piping pre-recorded junk through the speakers. People that used complex melodies in both the vocal and instrumental portions of their songs.

Let's put it this way. Billy Joel's "Piano Man" is not musically a great song. But it's a heckuva lot better than pretty much anything Lady GaGa has ever put out.

Wow, that was an epic typo on my part. lol That's what happens why I type long posts past 10:00pm. :p

I really think a lot of the problem is that so many people think that classical music is a joke, or that listening to it is "uncool" or something else stupid. By breaking away from the all the music theory found in classical music, songs just stop being good. Music theory isn't something to scoff at, and is very important in being able to write good music.

One band that I listen to that would probably fall under the popular music category is One Republic. They have some great melodies and harmonies in their songs, because one of their members is a classically trained cellist. Their music is so much more wholesome than most of the trash that's out there, including this song. They have some really catchy songs, but their catchy songs are actually really good. A little music theory goes a long way.
