Weekend Report+List

I just thought I'd write this report because overall it was the most fun I've had a tournament so yeah.

Long before I arrived in Hawaii(I went to Oahu first), I knew I was going to play PLOX for Grinders, I was good enough with it, it was just a matter of deciding on the list. I knew I wanted something similar to what Magnechu had posted but did not like Giratina or Mewtwo as bench space wasn't in my favor(Although I added Nidoqueen). My initial plan was to play AMUPlox, but I knew I wanted Dusknoir and wasn't going to fit it. Plus, AMUPlox was getting rolled by standard PLOX or PLOX with Healers. Anyway, I eventually ended up using this (I might be missing stuff)

4 Ralts PL
2 Kirlia SW
1 Kirlia PL
3 Gardevoir SW
1 Gardevoir Lv.X
1 Gallade SW
1 Azelf LA
1 Azelf Lv.X
1 Uxie LA
1-1 Claydol
1-0-1 Dusknoir
1-1-1 Nidoqueen
1-1 Q/G
3 Spiritomb

Rip off trainer line from Magnechu but I snuck in a Moonlight somehow

5 Psychic
3 Call
4 DCE

I really regretted playing Queen, I let people talk me into it, although the list was overall consistent and set up really well even without Claydol hitting the board.

On Thursday that list was finalized and I got ready for the next day, although I got bored of PLOX and played Luxchomp for a bit going 2-1, beating a PLOX/Healers down 6-3, to 0-3 in 8 or so turns.

Friday I woke up around 7, expecting there to be a line like last year, I got down to the line about 7:45, and I really regretted that XD. Once it moved, it was done for me in like 5 minutes. I could have slept in an extra hour. I heard play mats sold out pretty quick, so that saddened me as those were sick play mats. I chill for a bit and the tournament FINALLY starts. Sorry if I don't remember every detail of the games, I just remember mostly what happend.

R1: v/Donphan/ERL
He starts Electrike/Regirock, and I immediately guess he's playing Donphan/ERL. I had an okay start, I had the T2 PLOX, but opted to go for a stronger set up towards my bench, so I attach a DCE, and future sight into Roseanne's . He retreats, uses Warp Point to push me into Unown Q, BTS into Tric attaches to Manectric and Uxies for 4 or 5, getting a Dol and Donphan out in the process. He pases. I draw, Rose for tomb and Ralts#2, candy Ralts#2 into Gardevoir, Telepass his Roseanne's to get Tomb and Azelf, Time Walk for Gallade. Q to Azelf, and Darkness Grace to Kirlia. I don't know what happened here but he Cosmic'd and whiffed on energy or Stark Mountain and passed. I Telepass Rose for Psychic/Nidoran, darkness grace into Nidorina and attach to it. He draws what he wants and Judges my small hand. He finally has the Donphan and starks and attaches kos my tomb. I DCE to Nidorina, telepass Judge and evo to Queen. He KO's me again but starks to the other donphan and attaches to it. I see a perfect chance to win the game here, I'm holding, Dusknoir, Candy and Psychic, I push up Azelf and top deck Roseanne's, I roseanne's get Duskull and Psychic, telepass his bebe, putting back that psychic, get out Azelf X, then I rare Candy, Dusknoir, shuffle in his other donphan, KO the Donphan with Gallade. He manages to get a Phanpy out, but I retreat and Bring Down. He whiffes next turn, and I judge+Psychic Lock and he won't get anything else.

(1-0)

R2: v/Gardevoir/Gallade/Dusknoir/PALKIA...
Usually when I'm using PLOX, I like to sit back and set up, unless the situation calls for something else, in the PLOX mirror it wins games for me. However, that kinda got messed up when he benched a Palkia and Darkness Graced to Dusclops leaving me to go on the offensive ASAP. I Psychic Locked for the KO, he sacked another Tomb and then we're off, he by far had the better set up, with Palkia and Dusknoir forcing me to lock, finally he hit me with Gallade to KO my Gardy X, flipping over his remaining prizes and making it 3-3, leaving my prizes unflipped. I come back with my Gallade, and drop Croabt to KO it, my field now being Claydol, Crobat, Kirlia w/DCE. He brought up Gardy and Psychic Locked for 90. I energy to Gardevoir and Psychic Cut, he can't Palkia either because he doesn't have the switch or he didn't have a way to return Gardy X, he KOs my Gallade and I RC to Dusknoir, palmers for the Lv.X and other things and KO and Psychic Lock to make it 2-1 in my favor. He pushes up Dusknoir (Moonlight was in play), plays Ralts and Psychic and passes. I warp him and he's forced to push up Palkia, I Psychic Lock for 60. He attaches a Call to Ralts and Switches to Dusknoir, I Telepass his Roseanne's for a Psychic and Tomb, bebe's the tomb in for a Gardy X and Bring Down for the end of a tough game. By far one of the best games I've played, I got a lot of luck go my way, but my opponent played excellently.

(2-0)

R3: v/Gardy/Gengar
I started Tomb, 5 Psychic and Palmers. I go second after his future sight/dce and top deck Duskull, play it down retreat tomb and Counting Song for 3. He gets T2 PLOX and I scoop the next turn after I Lookers into Gallade, Queen, Gardy, Gardy X, Psychic.

(2-1)

R4: v/Gyarados (Playing up)
I saw him play Gyarados earlier and I was like...bad match up. I started Duskull/Baltoy with a decent hand, not enough of one to win the game though. I won the flip and he flipped over his lone basic. Magikarp, counting song gg.

(3-1)

Lunch break happens and I tag along with Julian, Matt, Curtis, Juan, Gavin and Kevin(Who had to ride in the trunk XD)

R5: v/PLOX
I was playing against Juan, one of the guys I just went to lunch with, who was also Canadian and the only one still in the tournament at this point, at 3-1, we knew losing this game meant we're done. I had a meh start, and he surprised me by playing the Downer Lock, which sucked because I had to Psychic to tomb. He got a quick PLOX off, while I struggled, playing in my defensive mode as usual. I set up a Gardy and a Gallade, but I had to attach 3 Psychic to Gallade, 1 to the tomb and 1 was prized. The turn before I went on the offensive I had dropped Azelf, even though he Psychic Locked because I needed the X out in this match up. He KO'd my last sac card, and I leveled up Azelf and retreated for free thanks to moonlight. KOing his Gardevoir X with PLOX (IIRC), he sac'd a few cards because his bench was messed up from Downer Lock, so he fed me Azelf MT and then Uxie and just like that it was back to 3-3. Although he now set up Gallade and KO'd my damaged Gardevoir X. I sent up Gallade, and was holding RC, Lux Ball, Rose in my hand for his Claydol that he was obviously trying to Lucians off of. Except, Dusknoir was part of 3 of my prizes that remained and I hadn't flipped any yet. I had to grab queen, because if he KO's the Gallade and I don't have an attacker, I lose, I KO'd the damaged Gallade, furious I could just lose because of I neglected something like that. He KO'd my Gallade with a Lucians/Belted Gardy and Dark Palmed in Queen. I scoop.

(3-2)

R6: v/Shuppet
He goes first with Dunsparce and passes, I start with Q active, G on the bench(Thanks for telling me about leading with Q earlier Connor ;) ), I rose for Psychic and Crobat, Belt and donk him with an Unown Q.

R7: v/Blazechomp
Although I was really confident in beating my SP matchup, I started with a trash hand he got T2 Chomp X off and rolled me.

(4-3)

Saturday was really, really chill. I watched Jacob almost go X-0 (Better of this way, curse of the first sucks =P) after that, we went for overpriced diner and then drafted for free packs of Unleashed, where I drafted out total
Rain Dance w/Blastoise, 2 Floatzel, Kingdra Prime and Octillery.

Sunday, well, I watched Jacob win, congrats dude, that is a huge accomplishment.

Monday, it was all about realxing, although the last three days we're very relaxed.
