Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Werewolf XIII: Ascension of the Packmaster (ENDGAME: See Post 812)

Lakak, thank you for the bump. It is greatly appreciated.

TheKing: You are not too late. You will be put on the replacement list tonight.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: I am headed out of town to judge a BR. I will not be in until tomorrow evening and, even then, I have a LOT to do in order to be ready for next week for school. So I will most likely be out of contact for the next two days. Please continue to play as normal.

And now, the update...
--------------------------------

As night fell over the village, those still among the living went about their regular lives as best possible. Artisans ran about, finding raw materials, women went to the local wells to draw needed water for the evening, and children cowered in their homes, fearing what happened to the Duke's Son would happen to them. One guild lay dormant, not noticing the subtle spell cast over their denizens. And the dreams of sleep came to those who slept.

One person chose to follow another, hoping to discover his true motivations. After seeing him run a few menial errands, that person headed to the church. But, before he could investigate further, the player went into the Cathedral. Attempting to follow him inside, the Priest stepped in front of him. “Would you that easily violate the sanctity of a confession? Leave, and let God judge your conscience, you brute!” With the large doors slammed in his face, he retraced the steps of the man who entered the church. Seeing where he came from, he knew exactly who had entered the confessional that night. He made a few quick notes on his parchment, then returned to his house to sleep for the evening.

The Kingmaker, checking to see if the night was clear, stepped into the darkness. Most of the citizens had gone to bed, and only the bleakness of twilight was his companion. He threw the bag of Kingdom over his shoulder and began his journey to leave the crown to its rightful owner.

As he neared the abode of the new King, he heard a disquieting sound: a group of rustlings in the woods near the abode of the future king! Rushing to the door, he peaked in the window to see a normative sight:

A child, sleeping alone...

...which was strange, considering an adult male slept within these walls, somewhere.

Quickly sneaking to the door, he began to pin the the bag with the crown inside so that the house's master would find it the next day. As he was about to apply his trademark knife, he heard a bloodcurdling scream emanate from the side room.

Running to the side window, he saw what he feared was not the source of that earlier rumbing: Werewolves were mauling a man with long flowing robes. Their claws and muscles ripped the man into two pieces, discarding the unneeded carcass into a vat of acid when they were finished. That acid could never be used for its original purpose, the conversion of metal to gold. For the Wolves had claimed as their first victim Ikrit, the town's Alchemist!
--------------------------------

18. Alchemist (Ikrit): You are deeply moved by the passing of the King, knowing that your work done for him in secret must be put on hold lest the secret research be discovered. In the meantime, your work must shift in a new direction: protecting the town from the Werewolf menaces.

You are in the Alchemist's Guild along with (wouldn't YOU like to know), your Apprentice. You may speak with this person through PM, email, IM, etc. at any time during the game. Each Game Night, you must also choose two options:

1) XXXXXXXXXXXXXX: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

2) XXXXXXXX: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

WIN CONDITION: Town wins.
--------------------------------

With Ikrit no longer a living choice for king, the Kingmaker knew another player must be chosen. With the wolves now disappearing into the woods and the Alchemist's apprentice now awake and weeping over the dissolved bones of his master, the Kingmaker set of for a new house. Checking to make sure THAT person was alive, he pinned the bag on the door and went to sleep. So much for a quiet, uneventful night...

The morning brought the discovery of Ikrit's dissolved body and the knowledge that a new Alchemist, young and inexperienced would be working with lethal and deadly materials. Perfectly normal.

But the biggest news was the emergence of Diaz from his abode. The new king stood tall and proud, ready to dispense HIS brand of justice to the town that day.

BEGIN DAY 2!!!!!

DAY ENDS: October 9, 2010, 11:59 pm EST

The conversion of metal to gold? What effect could that possibly have on the game? (unless cardz is just adding to the story, and the alchemist was not using that as an in game effect) Definitely seems like its going to be harder to glisten fragments of information from cardz's updates as opposed to absol's.

Did the thief group attempt to move any items around that they care to report on? If it is information best left private, then dont post it. It just occurred to me that if the revolver or whatever was moved of lakak it would still be extremely obvious who had it after they took a shot. So, so much for that idea.

Im pretty much just posting to kick off day 2 - its been too quiet.

Huh, I think that the wolves somehow figured out who the person the Kingmaker was going to make the king. I'd like to figure out how they did it. Also, Diaz being king should be interesting, as he was a point of controversy yesterday.

No, that's not what happened. Jumping to conclusions is a great way to sink the town. About Diaz being the point of controversy, what are you talking about? He didn't do anything overly strange.

Ikrit is know to be a good player. The kingmaker obviously picked him for those reasons. The wolves also picked him for a kill for the same reasons. I'm sure they decided to go for someone who was more or less a low profile player day one, so they wouldn't risk that player being protected by a priest.

Don't be so eager to start something. Jumping to conclusions and posting with out thinking is one of the best ways in the game to earn a lynch.

I strongly doubt that they figured it out. Probably just a coincidence.

Kezzup, I'd say what DP and AAM said, but they've already said it.

Anyways, I'm going to guess that whoever Ikrit's apprentice was is now the Alchemist and now has the role that Ikrit did, going off of Cardz's update. Anyway, I'll make a longer post when I'm not so tired and there's more to go on.

they probably just realized that Ikrit was a good player.

Priest, I think that Diaz is a likely target if Ikrit was killed for the reason that I believe. I am 85% sure that he is a townie, because of my role.
There is basically no info to go on today, and I'll be away from monday to friday.
I'll read this thread on Saturday when I get back

VOTE: AAM

his last post sounded like he was covering something up. a rookie mistake, or just being honest. i'd like to see what he has to say next

Sometimes you don't need to say much to make a point. I'm interested in hearing his response to that too though.

So can anyone with past experience with the roles explain what value alchemy might have to the game, or what their "abilities" might be?

You are both making something of nothing. My post was quite simply to say that there is no way the wolves could have known who the king would be. Im really not obligated to defend my post, especially seeing as how about 3 other people made the same point I was making.

Lion King music plays in the background: “Oh I just can’t wait to be king!”
*I see*

So… Alchemist eh? Maybe that whole discussion about professions last game day wasn’t a bad idea. Remember when we were thinking about the whole “French Revolution” theme. AK (wolf) squelched that conversation. If we have “alchemist”, “apprentices”, and “duke’s son”, I think we probably have other setting relevant roles. Maybe something like “Quartermaster”?

Also, I think this game will use a lot of items. Maybe the alchemist was using his skills to make items? We know that smack has an ability that lets him move items. That would be pretty useless if there weren’t a lot of items floating around. I don’t think Cardz handed out any items from the night update, so they must be part of peoples’ roles.

@Lakak- If your gun can work every day, it should be working every day. Giving the town two day kills is extremely powerful. It’s like you are a king every day. You should be using that gun to weed out weaker players right now. Don’t kill a strong player unless you have really good evidence that they are a wolf.

@Absoltrainer: I haven’t played any past werewolf games with you, so I’m not sure exactly how you play. I think you could be an asset to this town though. (No, it isn’t a coincidence.)

@Town: Let’s keep the game moving. I don’t have any leads on wolves, so I need some info to emerge if I’m going to be able to make a good kill today.

@DP: Do you think that you weren’t made king again because the kingmaker thought it would be bad to have the same king twice? Or because his role doesn’t let him? Idk, I just know you’re usually insightful in this game and want to hear from you. (Even though I don’t know if you are a wolf or not lol)

@Smacktack and friends (who is in that mason group again?): Any news from your end? As role-revealed players, it’s important that you past as much as possible.

I think smack is a townie, from his role reveal. But I’m not sure about the other two players. Smack, be careful when talking to the players in your mason group. There might be a wolf.

That’s all from me for now. Keep discussion going.

@Absoltrainer: I haven’t played any past werewolf games with you, so I’m not sure exactly how you play. I think you could be an asset to this town though.

I don't play sides when I don't know the teams. How can one be an asset to the town when he has no idea who the town is. On that same note one cannot be against the enemy either without knowing who the enemy is.

Once people begin to find out who is part of the town, then and only then can people begin to trust each other and form teams. For now it is too early. Neutrality is the safest territory until sides must be chosen.

Trust no one except the enemy, for they are consistent in their actions.

@All players Town or otherwise: Certain people (who know who they are) are revealing more info then is needed in their posts. Be wary of your posting and use subtlety.

So what I can see from the night is,

1) There is a detective and he tried to follow someone but the person they followed had protection from the priest.

2) Ikirits apprentice now gets (hopefully) to take over his job. What that entails is unknown.

Now who asked for priest protection yesterday? I can remember DP did. As well as smacktack. So maybe the detective followed smacktack to make sure he was truthful about his role reveal?

Thoughts?

I don't think it was Smacktack since whoever it was had priest protection, and I don't think Smacktack takes priority over someone like DarthPika or Diaz for protection. I think it was more likely someone like Lakak because a detective might want to know his role and a priest would want to protect him.

So really guys. I need you all to post more often. It's been kind of dead here for a while. Things need to pick up if we are going to have any chance of catching a wolf. kwisdumb, I don't think we've seen any posts from you this game, what's up.

Ok, no one is posting, so I guess I'll say something.

1. Diaz, it would help us if we knew if you had some people in mind. And you might want to stick to those rules that DP posted, they are a good idea.

2. Yes, I believe that Jellyfisher is right. Laklak is most likely the person who got the priest protection last night. Why? First off, there was a detective following him before he got Priested. Unless it's a big coincidence that the detective and the priest chose the same person, not saying that it isn't, Laklak is the one person who had the highest chance of being investigated and protected.

3. Come on you guys, I know that there isn't much to go off of, but you could at least TRY to raise discussion.

Well, that's all I have for now, hopefully things will have picked up by the time I check back.

It seems that the Kingmaker initially chose Ikrit but then he got killed so the Kingmaker could choose someone else. That was handy because otherwise we wouldn't be able to have a King lol. The group he was in was kinda like Townie Werewolves considering they could also talk to each other. The options might have something to do with what they're making, I'm not sure. There's not much evidence left and nobody really suspicious either. I tried to find posts from Azure Kite that might show other people's alliances, but that didn't work out so well considering he was lynched early.

dmaster out.

Does anybody have any idea what an alchemist could possibly do?
Has this been in any games before?
I think that it would be really helpful if we can find out what that role does

Sorry I haven't posted yet.

Wow, I have to say, the fact that Ikrit died first night is both a shock and almost expected. Quickly showing that "they" (assumed gender neutral) are a highly skilled player at the game, in the past few games Ikrit has been a very influential force in Werewolf. Jumping from a relative unknown to someone to be feared, its clear why the wolves wanted Ikrit dead.

I believe that the Kingmaster has made a good call in promoting Diaz to king. Diaz has shown skill in previous games, and I can trust Diaz' judgement for at least one day. I'll post sometime later for one of my traditional "night analysis" posts.

@ Diaz, I opted not to use my role in the night considering I would rather not hit some random item and give it to the wrong player. I figure if I wait, my role could be more promising and it should help the town out by moving items to the right places.

You asked who the group was, it is: Hurricane, Kezzup, and myself

I'll read the update again and see if I can make anything out if it (role wise) but, I need people to speak up if they have an item they want moved.

- Smacktack
