Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

WEREWOLF XV: Pokemon Wars: GAME END: TOWN WINS!!!!! See Post 2547 for Final Update!

Wow.

First off, AMAZING game AT. BY far the most in-depth but also the most enjoyable game i've ever played in :D

The amount of not only hard work but also creative vision that must have gone into this game is truly astounding.

I'd been meaning to post on here earlier once I heard the game was over, but I've had trouble getting online.

Congrats to the town for winning, it was a very close one and if the town hadn't bonded together and worked so well towards the end of the game, the outcome would have likely been very different. Everyone else has already said it, but props again to SS7, I've never seen someone build such a convincing argument and stick to it so flawlessly.

Thanks DragonClyne for being such a great player to play with. Your actions during the day were almost flawless and you were a great contributor to our night discussions. Thanks also to Ikrit for being the best Alpha I've ever played under. Even though things didn't quite go to plan for you (and you know, getting lynched), you're tactics and logic for organizing our actions were incredible.

I must admit, it's been a while since I've played a game of WW/Mafia while on the side of scum. It was also my first game on 'gym and certainly my first game of this size. As such, I do feel like I let my team down a bit. I was potentially overconfident going into the game, and thus made some rash mistakes throughout the course of events. Also my lower level of activity due to outside commitments (and sometimes just having trouble keeping up with everything in game too) certainly came back to bite me. It's not normally my style to play the lurking wolf, but I ended up acting like it anyway.

So onto a few personal quotes/analysis points.

When this game first started, I was under the impression that PokemonFreak5 was a new player. I later realized how experienced he really was. PF5 played a good game as evidenced by how long he lived. His down fall was due to Redados1 killing himself to reveal PF5’s wolf alignment. When he went down, he cast unnecessary attention on Dragonclyne725 but I don’t believe that really affected Dragonclyne725 lynch. I like the way PF5 plays. He’s subtle and stays under the radar, but posts very detailed and informative posts. He’s a good player, and it took a seer committing suicide to take him out. His posts were persuasive. If not for the damning evidence of the seer, he probably would have talked his way out of the lynch. Over all I was very pleased with how this character fit into the game and how he was played.

Thanks for that AT. It means a lot to hear that coming form someone like you.

You were my rival and I honestly suspected it all game despite having any solid evidence. Your vote on day 1 on Blitzer was a horrid move. I picked up on that immediately when Blitzer died and I went through old posts to see if any votes were ever cast for him..and I found yours..on day 1. Out of left field of a completely different stadium. Wolves, you guys have to stop drawing that sort of attention to yourselves. The WIFOM plays draw attention to you, which is ALWAYS bad. Also, again, associating yourself with DC725 was another WIFOM play that brought unwanted attention to your last shot of winning.

Well played AAM. I kind of suspected you later in the game, but we usually ended up deciding on supposedly bigger threats to target. As soon as I was certain you were the mechanic though, we would have attempted to kill, if only :p

PF5 Good try. But ultimately it didn't help you. The updates worked against you. Otherwise you might have been able to pull off your gambit. It was your last chance.
It didn't work but it was a good idea. Well done.

Thanks for that. :) Maybe next time I'll have a bit more luck.

So, a made a few moves throughout the course of the game that I feel like talking about.
1) Blitzer on Day 1
2) Cabd's Lynch
3) My "Gambit"

So. Basically, day 1 was so long ago that I don't even remember what I was thinking. To be honest, I think I'd forgotten that Blitzer actually was one of my fellow wolves. Which was dumb.
Normally an early game technique of mine when i'm town is rather than using RVS so to say, pick a random player, in this case Blitzer, provide "evidence" that they're scum, vote and see what happens.
This can either draw out vote hoppers or work in a similar to RVS. It's generally taken more seriously though than something like a simple random vote.
I figured this would be a fair enough tactic to use a wolf. But of course try and get a townie lynched instead. I don't even remember why I picked Blitzer, but i definitely wouldn't have picked him if I'd remembered he was a wolf.
Like AAM said, dead give away, that sort of early association and I can't believe I was so stupid. I still agree that that technique could have worked, it just didn't, and dug me into a whole.

Now, voting for Cabd was almost the opposite. I was well aware he was scum. This time I was generally trying to pull vote hoppers. I was hoping scott would too because I thought he'd been acting suss anyway, just his argument structure seemed too flawless. I suspected him too be sith for a while. (Once again, I was so wrong). Anyway, this plan sort of fell down because Cabd became more obviously scum as the day progressed. I thought my vote would warn him, but it didn't really. By the time I swapped, the town was mostly convinced Cabd was scum (and rightly so), and it was far too late to do anything but raise more suspicion on me. Again, another example of a move not properly thought out from scum perspective, and I'm sorry Cabd that I basically got you lynched for nothing.

Now the big one. Redados sacrifices himself, confirming some big players as Town and.... me as a wolf... Great.
I had no idea how I was going to get out of that one... It really is a wolves worst nightmare. While I was thinking about the game (instead of paying attention in chem usually), I came up with a rough plan for a role fake. I'd use the fact that I had some potentially protown abilities left and

It sucks that I got seered, but that's just how the game works. I probably drew too much attention to myself anyway.

As I wrote that role fake, I realized it was becoming less and less believable. Things just weren't stacked in my favour. But to be honest, I wasn't that fussed about providing a completely believable role claim. I was more concerned with buying myself one more night, because I knew I'd unlock my powerful button that night. Hopefully it would swing things back to our favour.

So I got the button and was given 3 choices. Dead man's trigger, a ship detonator, and the multi role. We immediately ruled out the multi button, as the chaos would be too unpredictable and could work against us. So I chose the dead man's trigger. I thought it would be pretty effective at the time, I had no idea Han Solo would be able to sacrifice himself to stop it.

And that's the night it all went downhill. Our kill fails AND I get burned and thus confirmed wolf. Really? Really? Sigh..... Well at least i've got my detonator. And now, it seems in the likely event that i'm killed, at least I'll take a few with me. In the mean time, I had to rethink things.

And now, as you all know, I decide to out as a wolf, but provide a reasonable case for why you should keep me alive. With the sith threat, I though that all in all it might just work. Combined with the detonator, it might pull the wolves into range of scraping a win. But I made a big mistake.

I was too concerned with keeping up some of the points i'd made in my original claim. The main one being that I had some super protection/investigation role to use. I decided that I could use DC's guise of Lance to my advantage, claiming to have protected him. I also just assumed that you'd assume I was the last wolf (another colossal mistake.) This is why I originally posted saying that someone had lied. I was going to "out" DC as Lance. Unfortunately, due to an internal communication break down, he did it before me, thus making my claim less viable.

It was a good try IMO, but it didn't work. I bit the bullet and my detonator wasn't nearly as impressive as I would have hoped. Coincidentally, if I had of picked the multi button, probably would have allowed the kill to go off and I wouldn't have been confirmed by the burn. Ah well, that's the way the crumble cookies.

Turns out DC did get remarkably close to pulling off the win, but alas, no luck.

For now, I'm just looking forward to playing in the next game, hosted by AAM (My nemesis, this shall, be fun). Thanks again AT and everyone for an incredible game.

PS. I've had this post mostly written for almost a week now. I just never got around to finishing it and posting it. Sorry for the delay.

This, even I don't care about Gametown anymore.
And you do realise that you didnt put that much effort in the game too, heh? :p

People not giving roles in IE YOU =/= me not putting effort in. I started the WW section there, of course I put effort into it.

Hey absol. Had the town not killed me OR the jolteon: Who would have gotten to choose the person that was neither of us that would die?

The votes were tied and the game was frozen. Then you said that the first person to vote for either of us would get that person killed. And if nobody chose to vote, you said another person would have been randomly chosen, and would have to pick a player to die that was not me OR sparticus.

Oh, that. I would have used the random number generator and let it spit out a number and given it to the cooralating person.I have no idea who would have been chosen.

Oh, darn. I was figuring you would have had it set to one of the heroes or something. Purely as a curiosity, put it into RNG and tell us who it would have been?
