- Players must provide their own Nintendo DS system Game Card and cannot share Game Cards with another player at the event.
- All players compete in one age division.

REGISTERING FOR THE EVENT:

- All event registration will be handled on-site. During registration, each player will be required to fill out a Team Information Sheet.

- Each player must enter 0 to 6 held items on his or her Team Information Sheet.
- Players may only use Pokémon and held items listed on their Team Information Sheet during the tournament.
- The Pokémon and held items listed on a player's Team Information Sheet may not be changed once the player has registered for the event.
- Players may change which held item a Pokémon is using between matches so long as both the Pokémon and the held item are listed on the player's Team Information Sheet.

BATTLE RULES:

- Each match is played using the Infrared (IR), found on the C-Gear in Pokémon Black Version or Pokémon White Version.
- Each battle will use the Double Battle rules. Before the start of each battle, players will select 4 Pokémon to use that round and keep the other 2 in your PC box, with two Pokémon active at once.
- The Flat Battle rules have an auto-level feature, which sets all Pokémon that are above level 50 down to level 50 for the duration of the battle with the following parameters:
-- Each Pokémon retains all of the moves that it knew before being auto-leveled.
-- Pokémon that evolve after level 50 do not devolve when auto-leveled.
-- Pokémon below level 50 being auto-leveled up to level 50 for the battle.
-- The Pokémon's stats are adjusted to what its level 50 stats would be
- A player's team may not contain two Pokémon with the same Pokédex number.
- Each Pokémon on a player's team may use held items, though no two Pokémon may hold the same item during battle.
- Players may not enter two Pokémon with the same nickname.
- Players may not enter a Pokémon nicknamed with the name of another Pokémon character (for example, a Lucario nicknamed "Spiritomb").
- Players found to have inappropriate/offensive Trainer names or Pokémon nicknames will be disqualified from the event.

RESTRICTIONS:

- Players will be limited to Pokémon from the Unova Pokédex only.
- YOU MAY NOT HAVE DUPLICATE POKEMON OR DUPLICATE HELD ITEMS.

RESTRICTED POKEMON:

- Unova Pokédex #000, #144 to #155

TOURNAMENT OPERATION:

- The tournament is a Swiss plus Single Elimination event. Each Single Elimination match will be a best-of-3 format, with the first player to win 2 games winning the match. The total number of rounds will be determined by the total attendance. Each player will participate in every Swiss round.
- A player wins by knocking out his or her opponent’s final Pokémon.
-- If an attack knocks out both players’ last Pokémon, the player that used the attack loses the game. This includes the moves Explosion, Selfdestruct, Double-Edge, Volt Tackle, Flare Blitz, Take Down, Submission, Brave Bird, Wood Hammer, Head Smash, Struggle, Perish Song, and Destiny Bond. This also includes the Life Orb held item.
-- If an environmental effect knocks out both players’ last Pokémon, the result of the game is a tie. This includes Hail, Sandstorm, and Sunny Day.
-- If all remaining Pokémon are knocked out due to Stealth Rock or Spikes, the result of the game is a tie.
-- If a Pokémon’s ability or held item results in all remaining Pokémon being knocked out, the result of the game is a tie. This includes Aftermath, Liquid Ooze, Rough Skin, Jaboca Berry, and Sticky Barb.
-- A player who selects “Run” during a battle will count as the loser of that game, whether selected intentionally or not.

- Swiss Rounds:
-- Players will be randomly paired for the first round of play. After each round, players will be paired with other opponents who have a similar record. After the final Swiss round, the Top 4 competitors will move on to the Single Elimination portion of the event.

- Single Elimination Finals Rounds:
-- Each battle will use the Double Battle rules. Before the start of each battle, players will select 4 to 6 Pokémon to use that round, with two Pokémon active at once.
-- Winning players advance to the next round; losing players are eliminated from the event.
-- If a tie occurs during Single Elimination, both players will be considered the loser of that game and will proceed to the next game in the match. If neither player has won 2 games by the end of the match, a Single Battle Sudden Death game will be played to determine the winner.

Starter Deck Battles

Each player gets one of the new Black & White Starter decks and a tracking sheet. The tracking sheet will have room for their name, and room to record the names of 5 opponents. Once players have played against 5 opponents, they turn in their tracking sheet and receive a coupon which they can redeem for a black & white booster at either of The Connection games stores when the set is available.

Players can play in the starter deck battle between rounds in the main event, but must not be late for their main event match if the round starts. Players can only play each opponent once in the SDB.

Team Battle

Players must drop from the main event before signing up for team battle. Team Battle should start near the end of the main event swiss rounds (before top cut). Players form teams of 2 players. Each player needs a 60 card modified legal deck (2 decks per team). (This will not be age bracketed – so parent & child can play on the same team.)

Players line up as below Team A and Team B

Player A1 Player A2

---------------------------------------

Player B1 Player B2

Players decide who will go first (flip a coin, winning team chooses a player to start). Play proceeds A1, B1, A2, B2, A1, …

Each player puts 4 prize cards into a team common prize card area – so there are 8 prize cards total for each team. When an opponents pokemon is knocked out, the team can choose which prize to take (no matter who knocked out the pokemon, the owner of the card takes the prize.) E.g., if A1 knocks out B2’s pokemon, team A can choose an A1 prize card or an A2 prize card. If they choose A2 card, A2 takes the card even though A1 did the work.

A team wins if it takes all 8 of it’s prize cards, or if one of it’s players satisfies another win condition – e.g., plays a Lost World and the other team has 6 pokemon in the lost zone, or if either of the opponents cannot draw a card at the start of their turn, or if an opponent has not pokemon to push up from his/her bench after a knock-out.

Player’s can attack either of the opponents active pokemon. Each player has room for 5 Pokemon on their bench, but the bench is not shared. I.e., Player A1 cannot put pokemon on player A2’s bench. Similarly players each have 1 active pokemon slot – player A1 cannot push up one of his pokemon into player A2’s active slot.

Only one stadium can be active at a time. Team mates can look at each other’s hands and discuss strategy on their turns.

Double Battle Event

Player’s must drop from the main event before entering the double battle. Each player needs a 60 card modified legal deck.

This event plays as a standard 1 on 1 battle with the following differences.
- Players only have room for 4 pokemon on their bench.
- Each player can have 1 or 2 active pokemon.
- Only one of your active pokemon can attack each turn.
- You can attack either of your opponents active pokemon.
- If your pokemon is knocked out, but you still have 1 active pokemon, you do not have to push up a second. (Each player must have at least one active pokemon at all times.)
