Buying pokemonstuff really isnt a good idea IMo, he probably has all the cards anyway :/
And If I were him I'd prefer something "cute" or romantic or whatever you may call it over something like a box of cards, not the kind of present i'd like to get from a girl.

Anyway, the only other thign that came to mind was, if you're good with arts and if he really is in the game, to make a playmat or something like that. It has a use but its also something really personal / individual which you have to put some effort into. Playmats generally are really cool accessoire, I'd kill to get a good selfmade one xD

Honestly I would get him nothing Pokemon related. You obivously know him better than we do. But I would get him something he wants non pokemon related. I'm sure he has other hobbies outside of Pokemon.
