What if Theme decks didn't have damage counters and coin?

Would Pokemon theme decks still be complete without damage counters, coin, and playmat, or are any of these 3 required for a theme deck to be complete?

For those who have bought theme decks, what did you do to the damage counter pips?

Theme decks are made for beginners. Beginners generally do not have legal dice, and pieces of paper are cheaper to manufacture than dice. Playmats are useful to show the player where to put things, what to do, etc.

So yes, they are required.

remember promocroak? The booklet that came with it had a little theme deck list in the back, and no playmat or counters were included in the package.

That wasn't a theme deck though, more of a collector's resource. (Something I'd actually like to see more of)

Since a theme deck is meant to be available for immediate use having the counters and coin are essential. After all why sell a theme deck if it doesn't have the essential parts to play it, and as immewnity said they're primarily intended for beginner use, and the playmats help with that.
