Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What Is The RAREST ENGLISH Pokemon Card

I don't usually use a filter before I post so a lot of what I say may come across condescending or something along those lines. I apologize. I'm not trying to knock your choice, or anyone's for that matter. I just don't understand what the point of this thread was, unless it was to show off your very rare Blastoise.

Rarity is interesting to dispute as there are infinite different unique collectibles. It's hard to discuss the rarest card based on sheer numbers for that reason. That's why we tend to discuss rarity with desirability with availability all encompassed into one "value" type of measure.

I promise I don't expect people to care or listen to my opinions, and I promise I value all of your insight and opinions, and those of others. I have the utmost respect for you. I just ramble what's on my mind here haha.

Now to answer this without giving a sentimental valued opinion.

The question was indeed
What Is The RAREST ENGLISH Pokemon Card

Rarest being the superlative towards rare.

Definition of rare
adjective (rarer, rarest)
(of an event, situation, or condition) not occurring very often.

Although cards like the 'No Stage, Square Cut Blastoise' and 'Cigar Label Hitmonlee' are rare like Daelum said, they are (believed to be) a one-off. These cards should be classified within their own miscellaneous bracket and not with cards like the Sample Set mentioned by Elam18.

I'm surprised as to why no-one has yet pointed out the more obvious cards like the 'World Championship No. 1, 2 and 3' cards from 2004-present.

"There are only three copies of each annual version produced."

Although the number of Pre-Release Raichu cards are disputed and completely speculative, the general consensus is ~4. Making the World Championship cards rarer than the Pre-Release Raichu. (Until proven otherwise).

Their may be cards which are unknown to me and/or are rarer than the World Championship prize cards however, I do not follow up on the English side of the TCG. I would just like to point out that as a confirmed fact we know that the World Championship prize cards, 3 copies were given out. Which I believe should hold a top-tier spot on this list if not the peak.

Just to clarify, I was correcting a member's post because he said the base set sample set ... asked which one. I picked the cigar label hitmonlee as the rare card of my choice.

I have been watching this one for awhile, and I would have to agree that the Pika trophies are the rarest confirmed cards.

I was told by someone who has worked with WOTC since the beginning and still currently works for Nintendo that there were 12 Pre Raichus printed. He also was the one who told me the full story about the sample set. If the mods or the staff want to pm me to verify the source, please do. I normally would write the name but I don't know if he wants it posted publicly.

Regardless, the Pika trophies are the rarest confirmed English card.

The rarest card that I own is a Base Set shadowless Charizard signed by Mitsuhiro Arita which I have combined with a picture of me playing a game of Pokemon TCG with him.

I agree with CBD that "most valuable" is a more meaningful category to discuss as it encompasses a range of factors, including rarity, to come up with a more meaningful determination.

I'm not advertising anything...I'd hate to lose my blastoise:) What made me think of this was Scott's and my thin stamp base non holos.
If I said here how many 1st base non holos i have and have gone through cbd would accuse me of bragging lol so I won't say. But it's been a ton and I've only found one thin stamp. Believe me, they are rare, but...suddenly rusty could come up with dozens and there would go the rarity...and value;)

Probably the rarest card is Pre-release Raichu. There are from 8 to 50 of these in the whole world. Last one oficially sold on auuction for 11 500 :)

I think this is why "value" is more comprehensive and relevant than "rarity". For example, a PSA 10 1st edition charizard can earn 4k. However, a No. 3 English pika trainer can sell for less. The No. 3 trainer is light-years rarer than the charizard. However it does not realize the same price as the charizard because of value.

I need to watch how I say things. If anyone has an issue with bragging, it's certainly not you Gary. I thought the point of the thread was to raise awareness for your Blastoise which is for sale. But you certainly do not brag.

You have many accomplishments in Pokemon and you should feel like you are in an environment where you can share those. So I apologize Gary.

I think this is the rarest card ever. I call it the Smiley Face error. It is a Misdreavus that was manufactured with parts of the card missing. These missing parts look like a smiley face, hence the name. It is a 1 of 1 as far I know of. I had it appraised by a professional, who said it was worth over $9000.

It does seem a bit odd to say you would hate to lose the blastoise but have it up for sale. Just letting you know how it appears at face value.

My word should be good enough but i guess not. So ill raise it to 5k with no offers. It's just like my box lot...I know it won't sell for that and I really don't want to sell them anyway (ive turned down offers up to and including 60k)but it attracts attention to my other items...just like this Blastoise. I only list 200 items of stuff not in my collection. There are many things I don't want to lose so I list them high or not at all...and the blastoise is one of those items. It's so unique I like people to see it and it ends up attracting attention to my store and items I DO want to sell.

Now instead of picking me apart lets try to get back on topic or don't post at all;)

Lol...I want it;)

Ah ok that makes sense. It just seemed a bit odd from a general perspective but hearing the business perspective makes sense.

Well some guy named DarkMewtwo or something says he had a prerelease mewtwo...he's clearly got the rarest card in the world.

And that same guy is also named DarkPersian, who has admitted several times that he creates fake cards, boxes, Pokemon and sells them on eBay to rip people off...

Folks, if I claim to have seen Elvis this morning over coffee, that does not mean it is true...

That would not have happened, as I don't drink coffee...

Does the Prerelease Charizard:fire: really exist? And I at least want a link to see the error Blastoise:water:.

I all my years in this game, that post was the first time I had ever even heard of a PreZard... I am gonna say no, but I may be wrong.

Although, I would only believe in it if the info were posted by a reputable source, not someone that was questionable to say the least...
