What sets are aging out?

They probly reprinted it because it was way to hard to get in DS. Anyway getting rid of PK next year would SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST FINNISHED building a deck with PK cards and have spent alot of $ on them. They had better not turn them out next year.:nonono:

The main problem with Tranciever is that it's a search card that lets you get another search card and play it on the same turn. It's almost as if the game has a second setup phase when this happens.

I don't believe that they'd get rid of all of the good Delta Support(excluding Flygon d) without getting rid of the whole theme. The rotation after next will probably be Delta Species-Dragon Frontiers w/ three sets being rotated this year.

LM-ON....

Why they would reprint mentor in DF?
We have adventurer in HP, Castform as a drawer for delta and double energy in HP as well.....

I think that it will be LM-ON for sure...

The only way to remove all archetypes is to remove all sets.

That won't happen.
I wouldn't count on that, you never know. PUI can always do something extreme as that and just begin everything fresh with only D/P. But of course, that's like the most worse, far-off scenario.

Could it be that mentor was in the dragon frontiers japanese half decks, the reason why it was reprinted. I'd be fine with the loss of Delta Species as long as the whole holon engine is reprinted.

Ahh........... that would be nice, no more Metenite and the whole holon engin reprinted.

I'd be happy for DS to stay... only because I can then continue to enjoy the challenge of making competitive decks that do NOT use the holon engine :)

Mentor stays in DF, Chingling/Chimecho from DP2 w/Mentor or Lanette's is REALLY sexy. Search for a Supporter + then start drawing 3. Its not quite as good as Castform but it really is effective.

I think, if only 3 sets go for a second year running w/4 released in both, the format starts to get a bit congested. I really can't see it happening. To be honest though, DS-on, LM-on, HP-on, whatever, I really don't care, I'll just play with what's legal, we all have to adapt to changes anyway. Its part of the game.

The whole "basis of the Holon engine", or "first delta set" thing is bull as well. I seriously doubt PUI care. They're just cards like any others. =/

I think a lot of you are confusing what's realistic with what you WANT to happen. DS-on basically isn't even a format rotation at all, it may as well be DS-on now bar literally a FEW cards.

But if DS goes then LM is definitely out
That's completely absurd and unfounded. Why even say that?

DS-on basically isn't even a format rotation at all, it may as well be DS-on now bar literally a FEW cards.

OK let’s test that statement. In the latest US regionals we had the following decks finish top 4.

1. Flygon variants – This includes Flygon ex d + Eevolutions, R-Gon, and Flygon ex d + Metagross (dx & pk). R-Gon isn’t really affected but both of the other major variants could take a hit from a DS on format, though clearly the Metagross build is more affected.

2. Absolutions – Probably ok in a DS on format though loosing Espeon will hurt.

3. Metanite – It’s still not clear to me how much Metanite is going to be hurt by loosing Latios* / Ray* and Lugia ex. Even in a DS on format Metanite looses some power.

4. Delta – Unaffected.

5. Destiny – Largely unaffected.

6. Steelix variants – this includes MSN, Metalix, etc. Gone in the rotation.

7. Banette variants – Loosing Houndoom will be a major blow. I’m curious to see if other combos develop though. Still the standard Bandoom as well as some variants will be gone in a DS on format.

8. Shiftry variants – Largely unaffected.

9. Polistall – Killed by DP. RIP.

10. Flairados – Gone in a DS on format.

11. Meganium – Gone in a DS on format.

12. Raibok – Unaffected.

13. Mercury – TBD. Will loose Scizor ex & Steelix ex as options but could be really good in a DS on format.

14 Sallygross – Gone is a DS on format.

So out of 14 T-4 finishers this year 5 decks will vanish altogether, 5 or 6 will be unaffected, and the rest face some degree of change of strength either for the better or for the worse.

Granted I don't have the most experience but that seems like a pretty significant rotation to me.

Looking at the current sets, I see the sets being rotated out in one of two ways:

DS-On (the one I'm leaning towards)
Deoxys - Out
Emerald - Out
Unseen Forces - Out
Delta Species - In
Legend Maker - Out
Holon Phantom - In
Crystal Guardians - In
Dragon Frontiers - In
Power Keepers - In

With this set-up, all the essential 3 Delta sets are in, as well as DF and PK (since they're both the newest sets). DX, EM, UF, and LM fit the idea four sets to be rotated out yearly, since they do not correspond with this theme (and they're also amongst the oldest, especially since LM in Japan was released before DS and it's mostly worthless anyways except for a Flygon EX and Mew EX). D/P rules would be harder to integrate also as you're also still dealing with a lot of old-card rulings and potential conflicts.

DS-Out (A more extreme option)
Deoxys - Out
Emerald - Out
Unseen Forces - Out
Delta Species - Out
Legend Maker - In OR Out
Holon Phantom - Out
Crystal Guardians - Out
Dragon Frontiers - In
Power Keepers - In

Like I said, this is unlikely. LM, DF, and PK would comprise of the "base" sets along with D/P sets. Even then, LM is a debatable set to keep in because of its age (at least in Japan). This would also be the largest cut of sets in a while, and would leave the format more dependent on D/P (and consequently easier to integrate their rules as there are less "old" cards in the format).

You guys are thinking of numbers instead of age for rotation. The sets that they rotated last year were all two years old, no? If PUI follows the same formula, it's LM on. I don't know about the sets before that, but I wouldn't be surprised if the rotations before were all two-year old sets as well. Just relaying a different twist.

I hope only DX, EM, & UF get the boot. They will more than likely kill DS though as they are trying to drive SALES and not the enjoyment of current formats, decks etc

If anyone hates DP just don't buy the cards. Sales $$$ drive everything and sets that are a flop in that department will quickly disappear.

I hope DS won´t live another year, because the metagame won´t change that much or else transceiver should be banned.
