Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What will win Regionals?

LOL our area consist also out of 60-70% Gallade, not that much different. And really not much different in other countries according the research I did in the "what won States" topic.
I only have seen a few Garchomp builds and those were fast, as fast as GG can be (depending on starthand of course). It's one of the deck who scares me to play against for sure.
I prefer to play against GG iso Garchomp/Kiss.

Normally a Gallade should turn 4 prizes (or 3 with PP or SC) to KO Garchomp and 4 for Kiss.
If you are willing to give up so much prizes for 1 KO that is. Or waist 2 turns by using Sonic Blade and find out they will retreat Garchomp to let you turn 1 prize for Togekiss while building a new one.
Either you are to late with PsyLock or you will find your Gardy KO next turn.
GG isn't always set up by turn 3, at least that's my experience.

The thing is that Chomp / Kiss needs to set up two stage 2s ... and that's not always easy or fast right now.

I would aim for an early Psychic Lock if possible. If not my strat with Gallade would be to flip 1 prize or use Sonic Blade so that they are within range of a followup KO by either Gallade or Gardi. Unless they get 2x plus/charm they still have to 2HKO a Gallade. It's going to be difficult for them to have two fully powered Chomp / Kiss by the time I have one Gallade ... yes it's doable but not very easy.

I'm not trying to say that Chomp/Kiss couldn't beat Gallade. It seems very possible to me. But it also seems to me that their odds will depend heavily on their opening hand.

look at it this way.
now, suddenly, due to the release of togekiss, magmortar decks are much more devastating than previously.
HOWEVER, i run an empoleon deck with cessattion crystal, and mag. decks stand no chance, as togekiss is now worthless.
and with gardy gallade, cessation stops telepass and gardy x's "switch" poke power, lowering its effectiveness.

RUNN (effective) THINGS WITH CESSATION, WE CAN TAKE BACK REGIONALS, PEOPLE!

unfortunatley, ANY magmortar matchup is alot of a harder matchup than you make it out to be.
1) they can use smash short on your empoleon to get rid of cessation while doing 70 damage.
2)they can windstorm away the cessation and use their powers again
3)they can use scrambles' while their behind on prizes so they ca catch up with your speed

its just so much harder than most people think.

It's not easy to get them out for sure.
But I only gave this combi because the statement "why should anybody run Battle Frontier".

I have seen many different Togekiss builds and BF will delay them, so it has it's purpose.
I am not running Gallade (only getting it against me) and they can be fast, but not always.

going to go against you on the magmortar v. empoleon thing

1) holon wp make CC stay in play, then you ohko their pachi with a possible 20 to bench (I used 1 glacia's stadium too)
2) windstorm is not exactly easy to get, especially since it isn't used that much in decks anymore since CC isn't widely played.
3)they can scramble back on you, but it is very unlikely that even with the scrambles they can keep up to speed.

When I was playing Rush (Empoleon/Claydol), I did not even need the CC and I never lost to Magmortar.

Mag, Gardelade, and Bannette.

Magmortar Good deck, good cards. It's the second BDIF.

Gardelade It's crazy popular, and so good that a n00b can play it and come in 3rd in states.

Bannette With Gardelade so popular, it's bound to be played and do good.

1)true.
2)it is played.
beach is still a threat coming from bannete.
3)they can definitley keep up to speed.

Well, yeh, but I dont expect to actaully see that deck at my regionals. I can see how it can work, but in my area that is a lot of GG, it will make it a bit difficult for that deck when Gallade can 1HKO you and then Psychic Lock you. I know you may play Crsytal Beach, but I am not sure that would be enough. You also have to remember, that your area is a lot different then ours. I like the idea, but how quick is it? You gonna to have problems to decks that are quick, since it might be hard getting 2 Stage 2's up. I understand what your saying, but I dont think that in our area it would do very well.

JMO,
Drew

Europes metagame is almost completely like the US's. You do see more Magmortar though.

red face paint Decks

I have seen a whole lot of red face paint decks do some damage to both G&G and Magmortar decks in the metagame in my city, El Paso, TX. Some decks are running Sceppy with Torterra/Butterfree with Furret as a tech and have been doing fast and efficient damage to the broken decks. I still have full faith in rogue decks, more than anything, and I think some will definitely make it pretty well @ Regionals.

TO EVERYONE

the way to beat magmortar and gardy gallade is to be able to strike back just as fast .
Its not out speeding them its being able to kill there GorG just as fast

Just take the time to look at what cards we have to work with in the gallery.
Im sure im not the only one out there thats found these wonders to counter the metagame

g and g will continue to dominate until i think dp5 comes out for us

Right on the money. I would call a tech'd up version of Banette to take regions. It's simply just extremely quick and can do major damage before setup begins. G&G decks the have tech'd themselves to counter mag and banette, but in the process, made themselves weaker overall. Mag has never done well against baneete, unless given a great setup. I dont think that rogues and secret decks will dominate until worlds rolls around.

What if the GG player plays Blasty d? GJ if you play BF.

Also, when you have KO'd 2 Poke's, i just send up Dusknoir to even us out. When you KO it, I KO back with Gallade, recycle Dusknoir and take 2 prices with it, while you take one. I KO with Gallade again and win ^^

BF??why play that just for a Blasty???Terrible idea,DWD is barely played so no need for it. Thats fine you bring up Dusknoir,Ima take 2 prizes in the first 4 turns,if you hadnt setup a Dusknoir by then, then you better have Gardy or Gallade ready(which will get opne shotted back.) You better have the DUsknoir near lmy 3 or 4th prize or it isnt even a factor since I will abuse warps to kill you just by OHKO your bench.

Banette dosent need that much bench space to function. Blasty would be the best bet to have out quickly, but I could drop a cessation and stop that for a tiime.I see what your saying Ardoptres, but you gotta get through my speed,my disruption in first few turns of the game unless my start is terrible.

Vander grad:since its a double standard then hey,but im just goin by what I see,Ive seen parents who just picked up Gardy from their kids and did well with it at states and cities.I dont see Mag doing like that.

Banette dosent lose to random stuff,so please stop saying that SLOW_DECK.
