Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What will win US National Championship 2010-2011 ?

^Ya, Zekrom would be so much better with catcher.

Or, if you knew they were playing LostGar, you won't hold one piece, intead have a search card like Communication in your hand, wait to Magnetic Draw to get the other piece, then play it down.

And you can Reversal to get around Mime Jr. too.

You have to account for them using spiritomb to shuffle you hand and try and get that RDL piece into the LZ

The deck that will win 2011 Nationals is called 2012 but pronounce it twenty-twelve. A buddy of mine created it so I can't take credit for it but he gave me his list and told me that when I win with it to make sure that name goes with it.

Quite a bold statment..... does this deck happen to counter most the "meta"?

Personally, I would be surprised if rogue wins. Rogue doesn't win US nationals just because of the immense amounts of decks being played.

Thats true. Also, past Rogue decks have won because they counter the Meta. Right now, we have know generally what decks will be played, but we don't know the amount, and what kind of people will play them. Knowing how much a certain deck will be played is a lot different than saying that deck will be played.

LuxApe won Nationals. At the time, I believe Pooka was the only person playing the deck. Thank him for the format of the last couple of years.

I also remember a hype thread about it, and I also played against 2 LuxApe's during Swiss, and saw many more around me. Of course, there were a lot of varients.

I know what it is!!!!!!

What will win US Nationals?

I believe that MattJ will win with his Terrakion, Thundurus, Jellicent, Amoongus, Elektross, and scrafty team.

Mattj is one of the best players at the time, and EVERYBODY should use Amoongus. Rage Powder with amazing HP and defenses in a format where they limit what is able to be used, it is too good to pass up. How he uses his jellicent is to shut OFF trick room, to ensure that the Thurdurus and Terrakion are able to sweep and keep ahead of speed ties.

As for the TCG side, i am unsure - Reshiboar maybe? Nationals is two different events people:thumb:

With all due respect, this thread is in the 'Pokémon TCG' forum so the idea that we're denying the validity of the video game championship (although I would have little issue with that ;)) is silly and because the thread is under 'Pokémon TCG' there is absolutely no need to rename the thread 'What will win US TCG National Championship 2010-2011?' Of course, it's true that when you hear someone say 'Pokémon Nats' we assume they mean TCG unless they state otherwise, but nobody can deny that TCG Nats is the main attraction of the event in Indianapolis, considering not only its seniority but also its much larger attendance. To treat them as if they were of equal importance is to value each VGC player at multiple TCG players.

As for speculation as to the winner of the event, all I can say is that I'll be sorely disappointed if Magneboar wins masters. I don't think I can predict what WILL win in an untested format like this one, but I sure know that I HOPE certain decks won't win.

I do think that whoever wins will have gotten extremely lucky on Cleffa flips in order to do so.

I think that it won't depend on Cleffa flips as much as how well one can play around the Baby Pokemon or jus tKO them the fastest...

The Decksa that have a chance at winning
Magneboar
Reshiboar
LostGar Very good and will shock people
Donchamp
zekrom
Lucky flipper
Rogue
Variants of some of these cards

no love for yanmega w/ trainerlock? This thing has crushed our local "new modified" tournies for like 4 weeks in a row. We have some pretty serious players and most of us have fairly good decks. It still pwns almost everything. The trainerlock just killz most anything either early on, or when people need to rare candy/ reversal/ junk arm (insert needed trainer here) during the lategame to dispupt or recover the loss of a magnezone or other primary attacker. It also fairs pretty well against donphan from what I hear.(lol) It has an easier setup due to the fact that it has sunflora to search pokemon. Maybe it won't win, but it's very solid and I believe it to be a worthy contender

You just gave away someone's rogue deck, I'm sure they're really going to be happy with you.

LostGar is rather inconsistant, and with RDL taking 6 prizes in 3 turns, it will be really hard for lostgar

RDL is really 50/50 against lostgar it's pretty easy to lost zone it :) thus thoroughly disrupting your opponent and giving you quite the lead
