In the past, there have been lots of "special" cards. The ones I can remember, in order, are:

Pokemon secret rares/SH
Shining Pokemon
Crystal Pokemon
Pokemon EX
Pokemon Star (*)
Pokemon LV. X

I am curious to know what people think will occur after LV. X, It's entirely possible there will be no LV. X's in LEGEND - perhaps there will be Shining cards again as in the original Neo series?

Someof my ideas:

Stage 3 Pokemon (not LV. X, but an entirely new evolution and as rare as a LV. X)
Poke - Power/Body cards - as rare as a LV. X, but like a Tool that lets you use the Poke - Power
Strange, ultra rare energies.

Please discuss!

Yeah i like the PokeBody/Power tool card idea, where u could attach it to a pokemon maybe like a tool card or even something in its own catagory, and it can use the power ~ Cosmic Power!

I think they will configure a way to do team battles. It was big with the video game so maybe bring to the card game. Imagine at worlds they will have singles and team battles. It would be a whole new way to approach the game.

That is a BRILLIANT idea.

Combo cards? They would be something like a lvX, but you have to have two different pokemon in play in order to "combo."

So lets say you have nidoking and nidoqueen in play. During your turn, you put down your "Monarchy Combo" card and either nidoqueen or nidoking would be able to use awesome powers/attacks. If one of the cards is knocked out, however, your combo card might go to the discard, or even the lost zone?

I dunno, it could make for some cool combinations, especially if they kept lvX's alongside this combo. (leafeon/glaceon lvX combo anyone?)

EDIT: This's an interesting compromise for your teambattle idea :]

I'm still lobbying for special grass, water, fire, psychic, fighting and er.... the other one... energies.

I was thinking for the grass energy:
when you attach this energy to one of your grass type Pokemon, the defending Pokemon is now poisoned. Put 2 damage counters instead of one on the defending Pokemon in between turns.

Fire would be burn, psychic could be to look at your opponent's hand and discard a card. fighting could be 20 extra damage that turn, water could be switch the defending Pokemon with one of your opponent's benched pokemon...

I dunno could be loads of fun and some completely new strategy???

Would LOVE to do team battles

Special Water - Prevents the water pokemon it's attached to from being put to sleep or paralyzed.

Special Grass - Reduces weakness to +10 on the grass pokemon it's attached to

Special Psychic - Reduces retreat cost of psychic pokemon the energy is attached to by [C]

Special Fighting - Provides [F][C]if opponent has 3 or less prize cards remaining when attached to [F] pokemon.

Special Lightning - Prevents effects of attacks excluding damage and damage counters done to attached [L] pokemon

Special Fire - Prevents the fire pokemon it's attached to from being Poisoned or Burned

That would be awesome, but kinda crazy.

Actually, I'd much prefer those defensive energy cards to the ones that will add damage/effects, given the fact that the game could use some slowdown.

We'll just have to see what comes after X though. I hope they keep the mechanic though, its a fun way to get playable ultra rare cards without needing too many of them (1 of a particular X vs. 4 of a particular Ex).

LV.Y

(extra text to = 17)
You're doing it wrong, sir. The correct answer is LV. [dramaticshoutingvoice]Z!![/dramaticshoutingvoice]

Everyone knows that Y is a lame letter than is sandwiched between the amazing letters known as X and [dramaticshoutingvoice]Z!![/dramaticshoutingvoice]

I couldn't find the Superalloy Z clip. :\

Lv.X is meant to signify Lv. 100

In my opinion I think it would be a good idea if they keep the lv.X format and just add new ones over time

Umm why is there a level 100 regigigas and all the arceuses are lv. 100? Your definition of Lv. X doesn't make sense, whereas saying that level X is an EXTRA level/stage of a pokemon is much more reasonable, like EX pokemon were "<insert pokemon name here> EXTRA".

I hope they bring back Crystal Pokemon but I doubt that they will. It was a Skyridge/Aquapolis thing. Gen 5 (if there is one) will also have a new mechanic, or it could just go back to the days of base set, fossil, and jungle where the only uber pokemon were the favorites like charizard and blastoise and such...

i would lmao if they at IV pokemon
maybe it work like this 1 in every pack replacing rh they would have improve state ex.
non IV pikachu Hp 50 slam 10 thuder bolt 30 A IV pikachu Hp 60 slam 10 thuder bolt 40
