Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Whats better Rare Candy or Wally's ?

rc lets u skip a stage, but u need the evolved pokemon for it, wally's is a supporter and lets u evolve into the next stage without having the evolved pokemon

myself I prefer rc, but its up to u, it really depends on whats in ur deck

Well, I use both. Wallys lets you get to stage 2 in 1 turn to but helps against ATM rock. If you have the stage 1 in you hand and a basic as the active, evolve the active to stage 1 and wallys for the stage 2. It just depends. If you only play stage 1's in you deck I would play wallys over candy. If you do go with candy, make sure you put in 3-4 Celio's network to help get the stage 2's out of your deck.

Can Wally's Training be used in the first turn of the game? There seems to be conflicting information in the Compendium.

Thanks.

You may be looking at an overturned ruling.
In any event, since Wally is a Supporter, you can't use it on your first turn if you're going first, but you can use it on your first turn if you are going second.

I picked up another Rare Candy today. We now have 2 Rare Candy and 3 Wally's Training. My son was running 1 Rare Candy and 3 Wally's. Should he drop one of the Wally's or keep it till he gets all four Rare Candy.

No, you need 3x rare candy and don't use wally's training, use celio's netowrk instead. It'll be way better.

Try out a few different ratios and see what works best for your deck. The advice I give out for most decks is to fiddle around with the trainers. Give it a try with just the Wally's or just the Candies, ow some mix of the too. See what formula works best for you.

I agree with kingoffighters, i find wallys useless, unless it works on exs, i dont remember, its been so long since ive seen the card lol.

wallys does work on ex pokemon, thats why I use it in decks that need exs. Play celios, rare candy, and a FEW wallys. thats what I tend to do.

When considered seperate rare candy would be best, but i would highly suggest using both in a deck but only if it has stage 2's in it! The thing is you use rare candy to evolve into the stage 1, then you use wally's to evolve into stage 2, this allows u to have a turn 1 set up ( if you go second instead of first in the game )! This strategy works best with pokemon lines like Kingdra EX with its Genetic memory attack! The over all point of this strategy of rare candy and wally's is fast evolution with small amount of speed needed! Also this helps as to not get screwed by A.T.M. Rock! Ohh and also this strategy will prove useful combined by the meteor shower stadium card coming out in the new set!

Any and all who read this I personally welcome to contridict my view or comment!

u really need both because if you have a basic pokemon as your active and you have a stage two in your hane then u need rare candy. But if the stage 2 is in your deck u need wallys training

What is a good number of Rare Candy and Wally's Training cards to have in one's deck (or what's a bad number to have)?

My guesses are that it depends on the deck, but also that just 1 of each card has a significant risk of ending up in the prize cards.

Is 3 of each a minimum, or do some people do well with just 2 of each?

Thanks!

Depends what sort of deck you're running. If you're using a Blaze variant then I would always say 4 candies is a must but also in the same deck you could slip in a couple of Wallys which might catch your opponent by surprise and would help counter the ATM Rock trainer. A fast evolving deck such as a Dark Dragonite deck might possibly not need as many candies thus making room for other trainers- perhaps some healing cards i.e. Life herb which again could catch your opponent by surprise as most Dk Draggy decks dont run any healing. Just a couple of my thoughts!!

WoW. I see how these cards work together now. So does my son. He just killed me in a game using both cards on the same turn. He knows more about this game than I do. Thanks for all the help.

I'm not a fan of Wally's Training because I like to be able to play a different supporter most turns. If not a drawing card then a Celio's or Briney's. Whilst Wally's is a good card, its a deck space issue, and I don't think Wally's is all that good compared to other options.

Rare Candy and Wally's are very different. In my Blaze deck I currently run 3 RC, and 2 in Draggy. I don't think Wally's is needed since I prefer to get lots of cards, including evolutions out early by drawing power or Evolutionary Light. By the time Wally's would become effective, all my evolutions should be setup, including Pidgeot, which can search out any EX I might need anyway.
