Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

When will a cities schedule be up?

^Thx for understanding. Sundays arent always the best either bc the regis starts later (church, etc) and then the tourney ends later. School on monday. Parents upset bc the tourney isnt over until 10, 11 pm and now they have to drive home. (Can happen with a MA division with 5-6 rds, then top 8 cut). An hour per rd (approx) when you factor in pairings, set up, getting results in, etc. Then a break for food at some point. Hour long rds in top cut = 10 hrs or so for a tourney that prob didnt start until 1 or 130 pm. See the problem if it isnt during the holiday break. That is why the GA marathon works so well, no school the next day!

Keith

I understand that too, but last year it was not like that at all. If I remember corresctly there was 7 weeks of cities and hypothetically if you didn't have anything to do for those 7 weekends you could go to like 12-14 CCs. But this year you can only go to like 6-7. But if you live in that Georgia area you can still pretty much go to 10+ cities

The number of cities overlapping in our area is bad for everyone, not just the players. It means people who might've played one or two events and judged the rest are forced to make even more difficult choices. Thankfully, we have the appropriate judge volume to accommodate as many as 3 cities on the same day, given the area they are spread across. Furthermore, its bad for the PTOs since the like to have large turnouts, and its bad for the players attending the events because they get to play less rounds, losing the chance at potential ratings points.

I am very angry at how few CCs can be gone to in NY/NJ/PA/DE region. No CCs on the first weekend is what makes me the most angry though. I mean this was terrible planning. Burlington and Cedar GRove are on the same date, denville and newerk DE are on the same date, blue bell PA and West Berlin NJ are on the same date, lock haven and watervilet, Brooklyn and holmes. NorthField NJ and York PA. That is like 6 CCs that cannot be played in.

Some things are out of the PTOs' hands. If you notice on the OP website, there are very few CCs on the 1st weekend. There is a reason for this. Dont gripe at the TOs in your area...they are doing the best they can with the schedule we have. You do realize that 3 of the weekends are holiday wkends! Thanksgiving for the 1st, Xmas is on a Friday along woth New Years. PTOs have families too and commitments to them for the holidays!

No one ever promised you the right to go to 6-10 CCs. Be happy for what you get bc trust me, you can always find an area that is lacking worse than you! Imagine living in NoCal and having to drive 100s of miles to any CC??

Keith, I am sorry, but in the instance you are 100% WRONG. We have 4 PTOs who run most of these events. They have ran events for the past 3+ years. They usually talk between one each other. The fact that 6 as RagingPancake says overap are IMO inexcusable. This hurts the players, the PTOs, and most importantly the Stores that they are being held in. Instead of having an extra 20 players who would buy merchandise you don't. We haven't had this issue before, but this year is seems to be popping up. There are a total of 14 weekend dates but having 6 events overlap when we have atleast 5 open dates ins't really cool.

I feel bad for California, yes, but the fact is this is something we have been used to the last few years having 10-13 we can go to out of the 14 weekends dates. It is so bad, I am considering traveling to another area to play in some Cities. We had this issue previously but it HAD gotten better, to see his is very dissappointing. There are always way to reschedule. I am sure that some of this will be fixed, but if it doesn't I am going to travel out of the area. :frown:

I would like to agree with you but for MY area or any other having two CC on the same day is bad. I mean you use Cal as an example. What happens if two CC within 100 miles of each other are on the same day. I think that would awful, it doens't matter what area you are in, conflicting CC dates are bad all around.

I know I am thankful for living in Southern California and being able to attend 9-10+ Cities this time. NorCal has one of the highest attendances of anywhere in the country for tournaments and is certainly deprived in comparison to a lot of other areas. Take it from me. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, you have 1-2 Cities within a half hour's drive. Every other City is at least 1 hour to 90 mins to 2+ hours. It doesn't sound like much, but when you only have a maximum of 8 if you're lucky and they are during the busy time of the year, it isn't as easy as you would think it is to get to all of them.

Remember when I brought up all the States stuff a few years ago? It was because I lived in Central-Northern California and had to travel 5+ hours for my own State Championship and 7+ for another one. That is still the case for the SF Bay Area, easily one of the Top 5 metro areas for Pokemon in the U.S. and Top 10 in population in the U.S. period. They get 7-8 Cities they have to travel hundreds of miles for, a State Championship that is 7+ hours away, one Regional and not much else. New England/East Coast has superior public transportation, multiple State Championships a reasonable amount of hours away, multiple Regionals to choose from, multiple Cities, Nationals every year considerably closer than from the West Coast, etc., etc. There is no way anyone can convince me that the East Coast is worse off than here.

Until you deal with what some of us have to out here, quit whining! It's no wonder the West Coast has the least amount of players playing in Worlds seemingly every year. The disadvantage is obvious.

As for the Cities schedule, I would hope that is up soon, but if it isn't? No big deal. Get in touch with your TOs. A lot of the Cities are also listed on the tourney locator on the POP site.

I was more talking about them overlapping Chad than the distance as I said before. We both agree that we would rather the events be on different days. I am sorry that events are so far away from you but that really wasn't what I was posting about. You also have to realize I was "complaining" not "whining" as I was stating my thoughts on the manner. The only thing I can say about events is maybe California needs another PTO and to be allowed (along with some other areas to get more Cities). It's not my fault that your Cities are so far and if I could, I would do something about it, but I can't. :frown:

I do agree about the Cities Schedule. I also wish the Invite Structure would go up as well.

drew, still remember that there are 3 cities that have yet to be listed. If they all get put on free dates then there will be 11 in the NJ/NY/PA/DE area

Now I am wondering if the CC's have the same prize structure and K-Value. Has anyone else thought of this?

CCs are still the same K value. I listed the prizes in my CCs thread, but are basically the same.

@Drew: I understand overlaps suck. Have you talked to any of the PTO/TOs running these events or are you just coming on here, blindly, throwing your sour grapes around?? Until you know the reasons, dont cast stones. You are whining and complaining all at once!

Drew: I'm sorry, but Keith is 100% correct.

4 PTOs? Try 5 PTOs.
And you make it sound like it's an easy thing for everyone to check with everyone else and get different dates! I waited until Dorian had put her dates up. I saw that Lori had some date up.
Then I work with the range of dates that I can use for each and every one of my locations.

Oh, and Keith is also correct about holiday weekends. Some PTOs put on events during holiday weekends. I'm sorry, I can't do that. It doesn't work for me and my family. So that's those weekends out of the mix right there.

Guess what? There is going to be overlap. Would I prefer to have no other events on the same days as mine? Darn right I would rather! But it doesn't always work out.
We do the best we can. And you want me to also work the Jet's schedule into this?

Edit: Let me ask those in the NJ/PA/NY area: If I were able to switch one of my Cities that are on a day with another area City over to 12/27, the Sunday after Christmas, how many of you would be willing to travel on that day to attend?
