I'M SOOOOOO PROUD OF JACOB L.!
I believe he's the first Canadian World Champion, and if I'm not mistaken first GRAND SLAM CHAMPION in one year as well!
First at SPT First at Regionals First at Nationals and First at Worlds.
I have to say, his performance this year is unmatchable. Great job Jacob, you've made everyone in Canada proud and I hope you can do it again next year!
I hope Jacob get's his deck published, then he for sure represented Canada well!
Good job Curtis L. for top 8, Gordon C. for Top 16, and Matthew K. for Top 32
You guys represent Canada well!
No question, it was Jacob who Repped out Canada this year. For years to come we'll see a Canadian in the past Champions Hall and that will be pretty cool. Good luck with the Deck publication, there will be lots of those decks sold in Georgetown, if it comes to pass. No matter what, I'm going to have a TON of Sage's Training cards for you to sign.
But there are lots of honourable mentions.
Having been on the organizing side of things more this year than last, the first shout out is to Geoff who represented Canada on the administration side of the event. When it's a World Championship, its great that we have Canadian representation on the staff side. I'll look forward to the next time we can work together.
Next to Matt, Gordon and Curtis for putting down Top Cut performances. Certainly we are showing we have a deep talent when half of our invitees can Top Cut in what was arguably one of the most diverse formats we've had in recent memory.
On the Senior's side to Mike L. who battled back from 0-2 to 5-2, to just miss the T16. You had an amazing run this year Mike. Look forward to seeing you across from me for a few battles in the Masters next year coz my Grinders performance indicates I need some serious practice.
To David John for making it to his first World's ever and beating me in R5 of the Grinders to put me out of contention to Grind in. Next time, I'll remember to roll for Fainting Spell when it gave me a 50% chance to push the game to Sudden Death.
To Allan Xu for going 4-2 in his first 6 rounds and was the last Cdn Junior with a chance to Top Cut, even with this being his first year of Pokemon. Too bad it couldn't have been the whole Cinderella story.
And finally to everyone who showed up for Jacob's run from Top 8 on. We weren't the biggest crowd in the room, but the Canadians can really make some noise.
Ugly Out
