Who's the Cheapest Character in SSBM?

For all of us who have played Super Smash Brothers Melee with their friends and computers must have a particular character who they think is overpowered or cheap! Well here is where we can let it out!

Rules:
- Give an explanation on why you chose whatever character so this topic doesn't get locked
- The explanation has to have some good reasons in it, so not something like this
Ex. I think Yoshi is cheap because he is green!
- Give a consession or a point to the character you say is cheap. In other words give him or her a good comment
- If you like you can have more than one cheap characters, but only one "the cheapest character." If you do do this number the characters. Do not go beyond three cheapest characters
- For all of you who dare say Zelda/Sheik is the cheapest, (She is my favorite character!) since she is technically two characters consider them separate to clear up confusion.

I'll go first!

Samus is the cheapest!
She is extremely overpower. She has good speed, good jump, and a medium weight which is okay, and I can live with that. What makes her broken is a combination of things. She has great physical power so she can not only get you away from here so she can run away/fire missiles, she can deal a good amount of damage with it. Next here long range attacks. Those missiles drive me nuts! With how rapid she can fire them you have to have a excellent jump of some sort to approach her without getting blown up. Sure there are reflectors, but Fox's eventually breaks just like a shield and Zelda's is just too short. And then she has her Charge Shot. Which works as a great finisher. All she has to do is just stand far away and fire then run after her charge blast and if you dodge she hits you instead. In a team battle she is godly especially if she is teamed up with a close range combat character like Marth/Roy. All she has to do is stand far away and fire and have a good chance at either that or her partner to him you since you attention is divided. All of this is why she is the cheapest character in the game!

Now you guys try it! Have fun!

I agree -- Samus is pretty cheap. In addition to an excellent keep-away game, she has just enough weight to stay around for a while. She's not even bad at close combat -- all those fire attacks. She's on the slow side, but not enough so that it's a big problem. Mewtwo is also kinda cheap -- almost like a Samus clone, but faster and a little lighter. Also, Mewtwo's throws make him hard to fight up close.

I don't think there is any 1 cheap character. I can beat them all.
The one thing that makes me yell "That's cheap" at SSBM is in Very Hard-1 Player Classic 10 player opponent. Any Team that won't kill itself is atleast gonna kill you once probably more. That level is insane. So the cheapest character is TEAM JIGGLYPUFF

In my opinion, it's not the character thats cheap, its the event stage thats cheap. Event Stage 51 (final one) is SSSSSSOOOOOOOO cheap. Think about it... "Ganondork," Mewtwo, AND GIGA BOWSER all beating the living crud out of you. You cant even stay on the bloody arena for at least 10 seconds.

I submit that the cheapest SSB-related challenge of all was in the original, against three teamed-up Links, on Dreamland, you with handicap 1 on 200% damage. Go ten seconds without dying. That itself would be a miracle. :p

I say that SSBM is rather balanced in its player base, though.

Very Hard 10-Team in Classic is harder than lv 51.
For 51, I just used Fox & dodged & weaved with Fire Foxs against Giga Bowser who could never recover quick enough & avoid Mewtwo & Ganon. Then you Smash Giga when he's damaged enough. Then you take out the other 2. It was hard, but not insanely hard.

The cheapest character when mastered is Pichu. No Joke. It is one of the fastest characters and has the best evasiveness due to its lack in size. And because the items are what usually end battles (if you play with items), Pichu is a total item hog. It also has a better >A attack than Pikachu and recovers a lot better with ^B. Many people under estimate Pichu because he "damages" himself. I personally have never had a problem with this and I've used him since I unlocked him the day it came out. There are also many combos Pichu can perform with Thunder, Head Butt, and its Tail flip attack. Also, how can you deny a creature that has happy spasms every time it taunts? :)

Event match 51 is not that hard. I used Zelda/Sheik. What you do is run to one side of the arena and jump off the edge then teleport back on, if one of the characters uses a charge up move or select other moves (like Ganondorf's B over) they may get pushed off the side by their over-eager teammates. Once it is down to one opponent left you just smack them around the old-fashioned way. This won't necessarily work on the first try. It is most succesful if Ganondorf dies, then Giga Bowser, Mewtwo is pretty easy to beat alone even if it is at near to full health with 2 lives left as long as you can avoid shadow balls and the smash attacks.

The hardest thing is definetely the team battles on very hard because the enemies are as heavy as normal characters and you have to get through 10+ of them.

I also remembered one more thing. There is a cheap character.

ME!!!

If any character is el-cheapador, I'd say it'd have to be (Old)Link. Not only is he not the original link from the Zelda games (yes, link is a kid as I recall), but his reach with the sword is huge, he can fire ranged attacks (boomerang), and even without a game with items, he can pull bombs (YoungLink's do more damage, though) out of his pants, for nice splash damage. Then his recovery move pretty much makes him impossible to get to for melee attacks, and he can still use it while on the ground. Try going against any computer-controlled player, and you'll find that Link is the most annoying to beat.
However, he is the 2nd-most beginner friendly, hot on Mario's heels, so Link is good to get people into the game, or back into practice.

I think Link and Young Link are nearly equal in that department. Young Link has less reach, but has a well-ranged burn attack (fire arrows), speed to spare, lots of reach for his size, and a close-up attack that renders the opponent helpless for about 2 seconds (sword spin). Not to mention, the downward sword stab both Links share (down+attack from the air) is extremely powerful.

not to be a little off topic, but you know that the downward sword stab is also in the Soul Calibur 2 version of Link? I recently found that out. I saw him using the attack in a Soul Calibur 2 screenshot and I said to myself "that looks familiar..."

The cheapest character is... Me behind the controls of pikachu.... lol.. well.. pichu IS really good.. but once you get to use falco.... I mean... NOW THAT is cheap... falco is very strong, his lasers are too... they stop you in your tracks.. you can do the fire fox attack... Hes pretty fast too and medium weight....

Well Ganindorf is pretty hard... hes really strong once he does that one charge up attack and hes very.... well Intimidating. And one more thing how do you make ur profile?
And the cheapest character on SSb original is Fox!

In terms of making the profile, go to the top of the page and click on user cp. And then click on the profile option you find there! Well, while I'm here I'm going to post my second most cheapest character that I have just learned to despise! PEACH! She has a nearly unparallel recovery. (Jigglypuff comes close with Mega Punch, it's jump, and rollout put together) She is lightweight which helps! But then her smashes are absolutely cheap! That darn down A attack. I swear, it can do more than any other attack in the game for a playable character! Getting a Zapdos in a pokeball and seeing them fry extra crispy is so much fun!

Actually, it's been confirmed that Kirby is the cheapest in the original, since his smash attacks are too fast and can be comboed too easily.

That's where Kirby steps in. ^_^ It took me a couple of days, but I eventually did it. (Loves using his cheap fly over the opponents, use Stone (Down+B), fly back up, Stone again, fly back up...) Just gotta watch you land right on Ganondorf's head when you do it, because he grabs you, damaging you, AND giving Mewtwo and Giga time to beat you around. -_- ugh. (Can you tell he did it to me many times? ;))

Yup. ^_^ Kirby's just awesome. Of all the characters, Kirby is definitely viable for cheapest character. As far as attacking goes, Kirby is the cheapest. As far as defense goes, Kirby isn't really fast. BUT, my vote goes in for Kirby.
As for getting in cheap attacks against YOU... Link wins that one.
