Will Spring Battle Roads be HGSS on?

Last year we announced that our goal was to have a Modified format that starts with 9 regular sets at the beginning of the season and ends the season with about 13 regular sets.
I can almost guarantee that HGSS won't happen for at least a year. However I'm predicting it'll be the 2012-13 format which is in two years.

Also i'm predicting PL-on next year. They've roatated 3 sets before and pl-on makes sense.

PL-on doesn't make sense at all. Why does it make sense to have such a huge open format in comparison to Japan? Why does it make sense to have SP cards stay in a format for 4 or so years? Also, why would Japan want to go from HGSS-on to PL-on for Worlds?

Hate to break it to you, but I didn't make it up, P!P did....
That's irrelevant right now.

I think it would be utterly stupid to go Rising Rivals onward, a Platinum onward format is just sensible to tell the truth.

Why not give us one more year of usable SP and then rotate all SP and Lv.X out in 2012? If that happens, there will be another four sets rotated and more sets to work with.

I hope it will be PL-on because just think of how many people use BTS, DGX, and a ton of other cards from PL. But, I have no say in what they do. If they go RR-on, I guess we all have to live with it.

Except they DIDN'T. No where has it ever said that RR-on was the planned format. If you're going by sets, you will recall that the "four-per-year" rule was just broken last year, and has been broken twice before. Please don't mislead and post a definitive statement for something of debate without a source.

Do you have any significant undeniable proof of this? If not, this is just hearsay.

Because thats how the format is I don't know how all these rumors get started until nintendo or P!P makes an announcement people need to stap insinuating things are changing. People are already confident we are cycling HGGS where is the proof of someone with that kind of legitimate power saying these things is what I want to see.

Oh... crap...

I was just about to lay down some citation on all of you with P!P's official statement that they were planning on rotating 4 sets from now on, but looking back at the article on Pokémon.com I came across something I hadn't realized. Check it:

Last year we announced that our goal was to have a Modified format that starts with 9 regular sets at the beginning of the season and ends the season with about 13 regular sets. Now that we have achieved that goal, we will continue to rotate sets each year to ensure that our Organized Play environment remains healthy and vital moving forward.

Nowhere in that statement does it say that 13 sets will be the status quo each year. It just say they will rotate sets to keep the OP environment healthy. So, that basically means they can rotate whatever the heck they want.

4 sets has been the normal from when i played during EX days i think maybe even 3 sometimes so I think its going to be Diamond and pearl sets go and we keep platinum and up is my opinion which i hope that happens.

I will not play this season if it is HGSS on.

There's no way. Plus, I'll probably have to miss Nats as well.

This would cause sheer chaos and will be horrible.

I think it all comes down to what they think will promote a healthy play environment (or at least what will make people buy new sets instead of Platinum).

I can't find a copy of the exact press-release from P!P, but this link is effectively word-for-word:
http://s1.zetaboards.com/Pokemon_Empire/topic/2267725/1/

That press-release is where I got my information from, and if anyone actually read my post, I said "until P!P announces anything," obviously implying that they could change it but for now, according to P!P's own press-release, that RR-on will be next year's format. Can they change their minds? Of course!!
P!P can make the format whatever they want, I am just basing my opinion on the facts:cool:

In fact, espeon200 has posted this year's updated press-release and has a completely valid argument as to why it might not be RR-on.

Thank you for reading

Hate to break it to you, but there has been nothing saying "The next format will be RR-On". Show me the press release that says that.

Not the one where they said their goal was to rotate 4 sets. Huge changes have been made to the game since that announcment. Not to mention, that said it was their "Goal" to have 4 set rotations. If Goals automaticly happened, why would we bother to watch sports?

You promise :D?
What would be the point of changing format for brs? Would the format stick for worlds? Anyway, the earlier we rotate to rr-on/hgss-on the better, and yes, I own an entire luxchomp / garados / vilegar.

I seriously doubt sales is a concern for nintendo pokemon is the highest retail sold CCG in the united states even trumps magic.

I can say with out a doubt that I will quit, and tell everyone I know NEVER to play this game if they made such a HORRIBLE move as to rotate everything preHGSS. I hate to break it to some of you, but not all of us can afford to have 90 something % of our collection suddenly be rotated.

Look, this isn't one of those ohhh I'll quit if they relase a card because I don't like it, or I'm going to be a baby and quit because I don't like a deck. I've stuck with stuff I didn't like. Heck, I stuck with the game even though I was very against, and still am against the controversial foreign card ban. This, this would be different. This would hurt a lot of players, especially the "target" ages, who would be devastated to find that almost all of their cards were suddenly rotated.

I don't think it's going to happen, because I think TPCI is a lot smarter than that. Stop complaining about the format people. Suck it up and deal with it. Formats change. Sudden drastic change like many of you seem to want isn't always good, and often is very hurtful, both to the health of the format, and to the players of the game.

"Stop complaining about the format" and "I will quit if they rotate everything preHGSS" in the same post?

And their target audience (little kids) will just keep playing whatever they have. How many kids actually play tournament legal decks? A lot, yes, all of them who go to tournaments. But for every little kid who makes it to a tournament, there have to be at least three little kids going to league or playing at home with ragtag, all-in decks.

I don't really care what happens rotation-wise, I just don't think that's a very strong argument.
