Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Winter Challenge Tourney at Nagoya - Report, pictures & info on Japanese metagame!

Grandielle, Japan have a different format - it is RG on.

So yeh, Tego, i hope this new Empoleon would raid the metagame leading the death of Magmortars thanks to its 110 full bench support attack for WWC?

:)

Great article! Wooo!

What does Claydol do?

Why am I rhyming....okay it stopped. ~:p

You rock, Tego!!

A couple questions, though:

1. Are the Japinese Battle Roads open events?

2. If they are, how many people are there at each?

At the Winter Challenge Nagoya today, I played against a Feraligatr DP2 deck containing DP4 cards. It was the 2006 Masters National Champion of Japan, and he completely crushed me using a Feraligatr/Claydol deck. Yep - Phione isn't the cards in DP4 you should be concentrating on, but actually Claydol is! It seemed to work really well.

Do you have any idea what the basic list was? If you do could you post it?
I would be very interested to see how it works.

Yeah, with the upswing in Pokemon popularity, the franchise could probably support some STS-type events again!

I still lament on how the Japanese metagame is that much more diverse than ours since they have access to more older sets :(

Though admittedly, our format isn't that bad.

I believe the Claydol is the fighting type that has a Poke-Power that allows you to put 2 cards from your hand to the bottom of your deck, then draw cards from your deck until you have 6 cards in hand, kinda like the Backup Poke-Power of Porygon from Delta Species

Actually the event's format was FRLG-on, not entire of Japan. Correct me if I'm wrong...

The top 2 decks played in Japan were Blissey and Scizor ex

Tego, this was a GREAT read! Both the content and the photos were outstanding! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this.

That Magmortar/Claydoll deck sounds very interesting to me.

WoW that was an awesome report very detailed and some great pics! I also cant wait for the new Pokemon Snap!

Tego - Also how was your reception as a "foreigner" doing so well? ;-)

That's just it, I don't think it is a new Snap, just a port of the old game over to the Wii.
I certainly did enjoy the original, but I think it will be disappointing to everyone to only have the original 150 Pokemon available in the game at this stage of the franchise.

I agree, the same 150 old Pokemon :frown:

Great report!
