Still trying to finalize space for Friday night to do preregistration and warm up events, but I wanted to get as much out as I can.

We will be doing 3 types of side events
1- our usual 8 person pods. $5 buy in and single elimination. Legal format 60 card decks. Prizes will be set day of.
2-win a box events- if you are familiar with how Jimmy runs these events in Illinois, then you will be ready for this one. Legal 60 card format.

3- our newest event- 60 card, no ex, and 2 copies of any card. All other legal modified rules apply. There will be a $5 enrty and it will be single elimination. Each player knocked out will get a pack. Top 4 will get more. This event will be run on either 16 or 32 players at a time, depending on interest. So start digging through those normally not used cards and get a deck together. This should be fun!!

More to come soon.

It's going to be a great fun time in Wisconsin and we are all looking forward to a great tournament!
Here's some more details for you...

What other information might I want to know?

Here’s a link to a Google Map for you… Clarion Hotel and Convention Center

Their website said you can use these coordinates to locate this hotel when using a GPS device or web map. Hotel Latitude/Longitude Latitude: 43.476555 Longitude: -89.768631

When preparing for a State Championship Tournament make sure you have a Deck that is ready to play in a competitive sanctioned tournament. To do this first check that your Deck complies with the current Modified Format Regulations. After checking your cards are legal for play, you will then need to fill out a DECKLIST! We will also have them available there, but I recommend you fill them out ahead of time and use the Decklist Creator, as it makes it so much easier for you to do and for us to read!

Remember – if you are using sleeves be sure they are all the same color and size. Damaged sleeves will NOT be allowed for this event. Shiny backs or printed backed sleeves will also not be allowed.

Players taking part in Play! Pokémon tournaments are grouped by age division. The divisions are:

Junior Division: Players born in 2002 or later
Senior Division: Players born in 1998, 1999, 2000 or 2001
Masters Division: Players born in 1997 or earlier
To participate in the event, you must be a player in good standing and abide by the Pokémon Tournament Rules and all other applicable event rules. Players who are found to be in violation of the rules of eligibility are subject to suspension from Pokémon Organized Play and to the loss of prizes, including, but not limited to, invitations and travel awards.

In addition, players should be aware of the following:

A player’s deck (for TCG) must comply with the Modified Format as outlined in the Pokémon Tournament Rules.
All players are expected to bring their Player ID card, if they have one. If they have not previously been given a Player ID, one can be obtained at the event.
Players should review the Pokémon Tournament Rules for more information about what to bring to an event.
Every qualified player must have an updated Pokémon Trainer Club account in order to be eligible for a Travel Award.
Play! Pokémon Premier TCG events are run using the Modified Format and Swiss pairings. See theTournament Rules for additional information about the Modified and Swiss formats. The number of Swiss rounds run will depend on the total attendance of the event.

After Swiss rounds are complete, there will be a cut to single-elimination finals. The number of players to qualify for the finals will depend on the total attendance in each age group, with a maximum of 16 players playing off in any one division.

What are the Prizes for States?

Prizes are awarded to the top players in each of three age divisions.

All participants will receive 3 Play! Points and a Pokémon SPT Championship promo card (while supplies last) just for playing!

On your printed back sleeve issues - are Pokemon Official (English or Japanese) sleeves allowed so long as they have a single coloured border on all 4 sides?

Vince

Clarifying with what the rules say... "The use of sleeves with any form of pattern or artwork on the back of the sleeve is strictly prohibited at all Premier Events, unless the sleeve is an official Pokémon sleeve, where the color along all four edges of the sleeve is identical."

Thank you daaaaahling! Always a good thing!

And ya, Troy's got a lot going on to make it a great event for everyone!

2. everyone that registers Friday will get a raffle ticket for a drawing that will take place Saturday during the main event. Prizes are to be determined.

And for your amusement and entertainment, we'll have plenty of fun activities for you in between rounds in our Creative Corner! Coloring, Art area, several Mini games, Trivia... lots of interesting things to do! Oh ya, and I'll be making some Pokemon hats to give away too! Really looking forward to this weekend! We've got a lot going on to make it a great event for you! Looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Troy will be posting this list of Player Responsibilities at the event, so I'll post it here ahead of time for you as well. Please take a moment.

Welcome to the 2013 Wisconsin Pokemon State Championship at the Clarion and Glacier Rock Resort. We are honored that you are here to enjoy what we hope is a great tournament and is a positive experience for everyone. There are some things that the staff will expect from all of the players here today. Please take the time to read everything on here. If you decide not to read this document, you will still be accountable for all of its contents.

  1. Outside food/ drink is 100% prohibited in the hall and related Pokemon rooms. If you decide to bring things in anyway, you will be removed from the tournament and the property. No exceptions!!!
  2. The Clarion Hotel and Glacier Rock Resort and the tournament staff are not responsible for any of your items that are lost or stolen. If you can't keep track of your stuff, and you don't want bad things to happen to it, please leave it in your car/ room.
  3. If you have an issue during your matches today, please call for a judge, even if it seems like a small problem. We can't fix things once a match is completed. Also please make sure you sign your match slips after each game and that a runner or staff signs it in front of both players. We want to record all matches correctly and this is a great deal easier to do when match slips are right.
  4. If you plan to drop from the tournament at anytime today, please fill out a drop slip at the judges table. If you just tell a staff member or mark your match slip, we will not guarantee that you will be dropped.
  5. While we encourage trading at events, sell/ buying is prohibited unless you are working directly with sanctioned dealers on sight. If you decide to buy or sell on your own you will be leaving early and not be allowed to return.
  6. We expect everyone to play fairly and have good sportsmanship as well as dress/ use language that is appropriate for a family event. If you cant do these things, please talk to a staff member and explain your situation. You may be asked to leave if your clothes, language, etc offend others.
Again we want everyone to have a great time this weekend. If you have a positive experience please share that with your friends/ family. If there is anything wrong, or if you don't like something done, please see the staff and ask for Troy. We will do all we can to make this the best State Championship it can be.

Thanks for reading.

Questions about Side Events etc...

Troy and team:

Thank you again for coordinating this wonderful event. We look forward to it! We have a few questions:

1) Friday night times -- we saw that side-events and Pre-registration begin at 6 PM --- how late will the side-events be run? Will it end when people decide to leave?

2) Friday night location -- which conference room in the Hotel will be used on Friday night?

3) New Event (2 max of each card with No EXs) -- Does the "2 max card rule" apply to Trainers?, Supporters?, Stadiums?. Special Energy?, Basic Energy?, Can cards that are no longer legal be used?

4) Side Events -- Day of -- Will there be any side events run the day of the Tournament?

5) Vendors -- Who will be on site? Will any of them be buying back cards for credit?

6) Are there any special trades for Pikachus? If so, have you already determined what is planned? We have been saving Pikachus and have pulled together a variety of older ones to have ready for the event.

Again, thank you!

wesdad

1- 6-9 pm is the target we have. Of course it will be subject to setting up for main event, interest in warm up events, etc.

2- the 3 conference rooms we have for saturday are all joining. It will be in one of them, but at this time I dont know which one. There is access to all 3 from the lobby area and adjoining hallway, so it should be easy to find.

3- legal modified rules will be in effect for the 60 card side event. Only difference is you can only use 2 of any card (pokemon and trainers, etc), and you can not use EX cards. Basic energy rule and all other legal modified rules apply.

4- there will be side events the day of the main event. Their availability will be subject to resources being freed up. (staff and space)

5- Top Cut will be there to buy and sell, as well as Ed from the Minneapolis area. He has been at our last 2 State tournaments and has a great deal going on as well.

6- Pika raffle will be in effect. Prizes will start at what Camille has posted, and will be added to depending on the numbers we bring in. The more Pikas we get, the more I will give away.

I hope this takes care of your questions. If you have any more please feel free to email me at [email protected].

Troy, will it be possible to stream the tournament from the venue? Sorry, I should have contacted you a lot sooner. All I would need is a table somewhere and an Internet connection. If not, I understand. Thanks!

Kyle, based on the Clarion's website, looks like there's free WiFi available. IDK if that WiFi is fast enough for Streaming, but it should be plenty fast enough for YouTube Uploads.

I said that I'd have these up by tonight, and right now I've got 5 of 8 uploaded completely. The rest should be up before midnight, though not part of this playlist until tomorrow morning. Well, here's every video that I've taken at the Wisconsin State Championships, basically as many Top Cut matches as I could possibly get my grubby little hands on. Enjoy!
