Disney Character Times
Character Meet'n'Greets can be located in the Times Guide once you enter the park.

Dealing with Crowds
If the last year since the Happiest Celebration on Earth began was any indication, the crowds have been nothing short of INSANE. It's been so busy with staffing shortages and the sheer small capacity Disneyland has that they've had to close down entry into the park in the middle of the day.

So I will give you some of the tried and true tips:
-Arrive at opening. You can accomplish much more in a hour after opening that showing up afterwards.
-Hit the big attractions first thing in the morning. If you have children who are not able to ride most of those attractions, visit Fantasyland first. Another good time to hit Fantasyland is during the two showings of the Parade of Dreams. Not afterwards.
-Take a mid-day break. See all of the shows during this time. Check out Innoventions in Tommorowland. Going back to the hotel could be an option, but be careful as admission to the park can be closed at any point.
-Eat meals earlier or at later times.
-Stay away from parade paths or show viewing areas if you aren't watching them.
-Fastpasses are your friend, not your foe. Grab them whenever you have the chance and visit them anytime later. You cannot use them before the window opens, as listed on the ticket, but can use them for the rest of the day after it is valid. Fastpass Machines work on networks within each park. Some Fastpass locations are not hooked up to the network allowing you to obtain a Fastpass for that ride even if you are not allowed to get one.
-BE FLEXIBLE. Have a tentative plan of attack, but do not over-schedule.

Nighttime Entertainment (and associated gridlock)
The busiest time is at night, especially with the amazing nighttime offerings for the 50th Anniversary.

Fantasmic
Fantasmic is the first scheduled night-time in Disneyland offering and provides guests with two viewing times. The show takes place on the Rivers of America and a stage built on Tom Sawyer Island. Those familiar with the Disney-MGM-Studios version should note that there are some changes, but the show is mostly the same. Even though stadium seating is not available like at the Studios in Florida, it is worth a viewing. Fantasmic creates a huge bottleneck in Frontierland and New Orleans Square all night long, with guests either entering, exiting, or waiting for the show. Adventureland is an alternative entrance and exit, although the walkways in this area are small and sporadically suffer from gridlock as well.

The first showing is usually the busiest, packed with smaller children, but entering the area/staking out a spot should not be too hard. Exiting from the first show can be chaotic. Fantasyland and Toontown is closed at this point due to fallout from the fireworks, so the only ways to exit are through Frontierland or Adventureland into the central plaza/hub. This area is filled with guests waiting for Remember... Dreams Come True fireworks, in addition to those from Disney's California Adventure trying to enter the park, while others attempt to exit the park. If you choose to see the first Fantasmic, do not try to exit or see the fireworks from Main Street. Look through the shops, grab something to eat, or catch a couple nearby attractions.

The second showing of Fantasmic falls 45 minutes after Remember... Dreams Come True. While less people usually catch the second show, be aware that there is a substantial crowd to enter the area as well as exiting still. The second showing of Fantasmic is your best bet, but younger children at this point (especially with a time zone difference) will be cranky/asleep.

Fantasmic Reserved Seating
One of the best ways to experience Fantasmic is the Dessert Buffet offered on the second story balcony of the Disney Gallery or the Premium Seating by The Haunted Mansion.

The Dessert Buffet on the Disney Gallery Balcony
Be waited on hand and foot with desserts and beverages on the Balcony of the Disney Gallery, which was intended to be Walt's apartment. In the balcony there are two rows and twenty guests are seated in the order in which who placed their registration first. So if you manage to snag the first reservation, you have the best seat. Admission to this private viewing area is currently $59 dollars a person, regardless of age, in addition to admission to Disneyland itself. Children under three years of age are free. Due to the demand and limited seating it is almost always required to call (714) 781-4400 exactly thirty days in advance at 8am PST to reserve seats.

Premium Seating Near The Haunted Mansion
While not as lavish as the Balcony, the Premium Seating is located closer to the Rivers of America and provides dessert in keepsake boxes. Seating is first come, first served and opens thirty minutes prior to showtime. Admission to this private viewing area is $59 dollars per adult, $49 per children (3-11), and free for children under three who do not require their own chair. Entry to Disneyland is not included. Due to the demand and limited seating it is almost always required to call (714) 781-4400 exactly thirty days in advance at 8am PST to reserve seats.

Remember... Dreams Come True
Remember... Dreams Come True is a unique fireworks experience highlighting the attractions at Disneyland from the past 50th years. It is not your typical fireworks show and, without spoiling any of the secrets, almost anything around the castle is fair game.

Remember takes place in the middle of the Resort's evening entertainment and is a huge draw, especially since there is only one showing. So, in other words, this is something that needs to be planned accordingly if you wish to have a decent view. Crowds from the first showing of Fantasmic, Disney's Electrical Parade over at Disney's California Adventure, and guests trying to exit the park compond the problem creating a huge gridlock. In addition Toontown, most of Fantasyland, the Disneyland Railroad, and the Monorail have closed due to fallout from the fireworks. Gridlock should also expected in areas surrounding the Matternhorn, the entrance to Tommorowland, as well as the obvious crowds from Fantasmic exiting from Adventureland and Frontierland.

The show itself was designed to be viewed from the central plaza/hub, directly in front of the castle, and the only way to reach the other lands of Disneyland. Guests will be directed in, around, and out of the hub throughout the evening. If you want to get to that spot, consider skipping the early Fantasmic showing and staking out a spot early - perhaps early as the ending of the 7:15pm edition of Parade of Dreams. Consult with crowd control cast members to find out what areas will be used for flow-thru traffic only. You will be asked to move if you are in a designated walkway.

Alternatives to the central plaza/hub are the Small World Mall area as well as from the Disneyland Railroad Station in the back of Main Street U.S.A. These areas are accessible as late as twenty-five minutes before the show, but you will miss certain key effects that occur on, near, or surrounding the castle. You can view portions of the show elsewhere in Disneyland, but it is not recommended.

Rules and Policies
Attire
Proper attire is always required, no matter what the weather. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times. Bikini tops, clothing with obscene language, clothing with obscene images, and revealing clothing is not allowed. Guests will be asked to change or asked to leave the park.

Attraction Restrictions
Eating or drinking are not permitted on any attraction. Food must be discarded prior to entering.

Flash photography and external video lighting, including nightvision features, are not allowed while in an attraction.

For your safety some attractions at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure have set height restrictions and may not be ridden by those who do not meet the requirements. Many attractions also have health warnings, and advise that people with certain health conditions or sensitivities should not ride. Be sure to read the signs, your park map, and ask Cast Members about any questions or concerns. A full listing of restrictions can be found at http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/help/gsDetail?name=HeightRequirementsGSDetailPage

In addition, young children are not allowed to ride most attractions alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Priority Seating for Dining
Only a few Theme Park restaurants accept reservations; however, you can reserve seatings at dining locations in the Downtown Disney District and at the hotels at the Disneyland Resort by calling (714) 956-6755.

FASTPASS
FASTPASS is Disney's own way to skip the normal stand-by lines on more popular attractions. It is included with entry into either park and can be used by any guest. While you will still have to wait in a seperate line, it is not as long as the stand-by line. Simply find an attraction that offers FASTPASS and locate it's FASTPASS distribution area. Insert your park admission ticket into the machine and remove it, as well as the FASTPASS ticket that is printed out below. Check the FASTPASS "Return Time" printed on the ticket. Go enjoy some other attractions and return anytime that day after the listed return time to enter the FASTPASS Return queue line. Each person must have their own FASTPASS to enter the line, including those who have to child swap.

FASTPASS does have a limited number of tickets and once you have obtain one FASTPASS there is a listed period of time in which you cannot receive another one. FASTPASS machines are turned off should a ride be experiencing technical difficulties.

Early Entry
Certain 3-Day, 4-Day, and 5-Day Park Hopper tickets offer the chance to ride certain attractions in Fantasyland and enter Main Street U.S.A. before park opening. These tickets with Early Entry can be purchased directly from the Disneyland website, select "Good Neighbor" Hotels, or in certain travel packages. This feature can only be used once per ticket and on select Early Entry days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.)

If we can organize a group to see Snakes On A Plane, we can organize a group to go to disneyland.

Updated information regarding closed attractions, changed the operating hours, and listed anyone who has posted when they will be attending. If you want your name and date you will be at the Disneyland Resort - post here!

I will be there from August 17 to August 21. But then again, I work there :). Come visit me at The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh!

The name on my tag is Alexander. I shouldn't be too hard to spot. Also, I'll be there from 11am-6pm on Friday and Saturday, although I'm sure most people will be battling then. Afterwards though, I plan on playing in side events at Worlds, so hope to see you all either at Disneyland or at the Convention Center!

Outside Food and Drinks
Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the parks. Lockers are provided outside of the parks to store coolers.

Does this mean you're not allowed to bring a bottle of water with you into the park? With the temperatures in California then, wouldn't that be a bit stupid? :(
