The not opted ins consume invites too.

Look at last years ratings and allow a little for growth to see what target you might need.

Uhm... you complain about trips? You know that all who live in Canada pay only a small part of what Europoean players pay if they have to travel by themselves?

btw, last year, Germany (biggest Nationals after the US and Japan) got the same amount of trips (2) as our neighbour Austria (about 20 masters, very low competition level), and that was not because of different LDs, it's the same for both countries.

And at least Canada gets Regionals. Europe doesn't.

About the invite structure, there's nothing new as far as I see. Top 50 for ratings looks fine to me.

I wasn't complaining about anything, didn't I say that I was thankful that we still have 4 invites?

Europe get's Euro Cup / Euro Challenge Cup, Canada does not. (also, Alberta (where I'm from) Doesn't get it's own regionals....just fyi)

The difference is, in Canada if I wanted to go to 2 cities I would have to drive 9 hours (one way). If I wanted to go to 2 provincials I would have to drive 20 hours (one way). In Europe things are much closer together. In 20 hours of driving you could go from Madrid to Berlin. That and that if you wanted, you could go both 2 nationals in a 7 hour drive. In North America, the distance between Canadian and American nationals is 9 hours, not including the full day of driving from where I live.

While it must suck to not have regionals, it sucks more to have regionals and not be able to go because you'd have to drive 20-25 hours.

This is funny, the Euro cup is nothing more than 32K event, so basicly a States but with a different name.
No big prizes to earn only points. Only this year there was a trophy to earn. (and you had to pay admission fee btw)

Yes distance is not such a big issue in Europe, so if you are able to get the point for a rating invite good for you. Now you have to pay your way to Worlds which is around $1500 a plane ticket only.

For masters, they will try to get there for SR and JR most invites are "lost" because of the costs.

Really? Smacktack said once that 8-10 CC's were within 15 minutes of his house. Perhaps in an expansive area.

Maybe 30-60 minutes....defenatly not 15. Keep in mind thats in the greater Toronto area...the rest of Canada isn't so fortunate. ( I have 4 withen 4 hours, which isn't bad)

Anyways, I think we may have gotten slightly off topic here....

Good to see worlds is going to be a healthy size again this year!

I`ll throw you a rope and you can start pulling, who knows, maybe you`ll re-from Pangea.

They were great event, but not sponsored by TPCi, meaning the prizes weren't compareable to Regionals.

That and that if you wanted, you could go both 2 nationals in a 7 hour drive.
National residency is required for our Nationals, also we can only play one no matter what.

But yes, I know US players have more access to tournaments than Canadian players, but there are pros and cons in every Nation. NA has a shorter way to Worlds, Regionals, free Premier Events etc, Europe has easier obtainable rating invites (a result of no Regionals and less players going for rating cause only a few can afford the trip).

That's what I wanted to say. One trip for Canada seems fair since all Nationals but the US only get one from TPCi. Yes, in Germany we get more from our LD to compensate the high size and competition, and Austria gets more because they're just lucky that the LD wants to push P!P there. The main point is still, if you get top four in Canada, you'll most likely be at Worlds since it's not very expensive, if you get top four over here, you have to pay a $1200+ plane flight.
