Worlds Prize Support

I wonder what a factory sealed full set is? Is it like framed? In a binder? In packs that they pulled that they have knowledge of what's in them? Does it include reverse holos? So I guess 1-4 place get pretty much the same thing.
 
Top 16 got merged with top 32.... kinda sad that 9th place and 32 place at worlds get the exact same thing. You'd think they could've found SOMETHING to differentiate the two. But Worlds already has the best prize support so I guess it isn't that big a deal.

yeah i don't think they listed all of the prizes they'll give out-

No Worlds Promo listed
They could also be anticipating that there won't be a huge difference between t16-t32 b/c some people won't be able to go to hawaii, so it could be a safeguard if the event isn't full etc
 
Looks like they cut scholarships for 9-16 and moved it to the top 8. Given Worlds is an invite-only tournament, it seems fair I suppose. Still makes the reward for a top 16 performance look paltry though. Of course, they'll probably receive the stamped promo(s), and Worlds stuff is always given out to begin with.

Top 8 still gets the same thing, they just took away 8 grand from 9-16th and re-distributed it to the Top 4 Scholarships. They didn't raise the support for worlds, they simply moved it around
 
They should have still kept the prize support for 9th-16th. As it is tough to get top 8. However they should separate I meaning 9-16 should get something better then 17-32. As it's a higher accomplishment.

Thanks for the correction. Yeah, it looks like the money just got moved around, though the "complete sets" for top 4 is an addition.
 
Exact same thing except a 2 grand trophy card haha. And they don't have playoffs anymore, resistance makes the call.

And a full set is exactly what it sounds like, a complete Master set sealed in a special way. I know Cohen got one of Emerging Powers last year, but was warned that by the time that you open the box the condition of the cards is going to make it worth much more if you leave it sealed as a collectors item.
 
Disappointed in the removal of Scholarships for the Top 16.

Just saying it.

More different people getting scholarships, especially younger players was a great tool for selling the game.

Nobody plays for 3rd place, you either lose in top4 or enter the final. The only difference between 3rd and 4th (this applies to lower top places) is the result during swiss rounds: you won more, or else you have a better resistance => you are better ranked.
This is the case for almost every tournament…
 
I think it is a good thing they took away the No. 3 Trainer card, because Getting 4th instead of 3rd was a 2 Grand difference and they don't play off anymore. I think there should be a winners card named "Pokemon Master", because, ya know, that's what everyone strives to be right?

I'll be skipping out on playing this season and I'm just going to play the Grinder next year.(Assuming the prize support remains the same) Although it's a gamble to put all your money on the grinder, it's more of a gamble to play all season to maybe get an invite. As soon as you go 4-0 or 5-0, you just got yourself a swag bag and a chance to play for 10 grand. That sounds pretty sweet. I still think the prize payout for worlds is too Top Heavy though now. Getting 9th or 10th place IN THE WORLD is kind of a big deal, but just getting handed a box and what will probably end up being the top 16 promo isn't very much. The 1 grand that used to be given was fitting imo
 
I'm also disappointed in the restructuring of the scholarships. Sure, it's amazing if you win and you get 10k, but this prize support is VERY top-heavy.

It would've been better to leave the scholarships at 1k for the tip 16, IMO, just like Vince said.
 
I HATE this new prize structure. It was already top-heavy, now even moreso. If PUSA is trying to become more socialist, this isn't the way to do it.
