Wrist Plays (Pokemon with a playbook)

I think it is a good idea, so long as the opponent can see it if they feel the need. I do think stalling may become an issue and, if using this device (we'll fiat that you are allowed to, in the first place), your opponent will almost always call a judge over to watch for stalling, especially @ worlds.

you could just, ya know, be a good player and know how to play your deck so you don't need one of these cheating devices.

I would like to commend POP for their rating system, which has sent the best of the BEST to worlds, as you can CLEARLY see from this thread.I wish they would have used this rating system earlier to filter out all the unnecessary players, like martin, pooka, moss, seena(Leader), and bianchi.Instead replacing them with Gdog who has clearly seen the benefits of advanced play tactics.

hahahahahahahahaha

this thread is brutal!

IF they were to be allowed, the oppo. would have to be able to see it too. So, write down the cards in your prizes after your 1st search and then let me see it  (Oh, 2 transceivers prized, or switches!)

As a judge, I would throw a yellow flag on that practice though, of wearing a wristplay. (See, we can intergrate football and Pokemon here  ) That is part of the game, trying to remember how many switches/brineys a certain deck runs (usually).

DARN! while i wouldn't use this. i would definitely use this as 1 more thing to manipulate the clock every turn. aka " can i see your wrist play?"

as I stated the rule on post #10 of this thread.

You are allowed to take notes, and your opponent may look at them anytime.

So yes, after you do a deck search, you could figure out what's in your prizes and
right it down.

Rule 10 also does not state what you have to write the notes on,
It does not say you have to write down this notes in or on a notepad .
So technically you could write it down on anything-your arms, the table,a napkin,
or an wristplay.
You however can only write these notes during the game,so you can not come
with things pre written on this wristplay.

As a judge myself Lawman there would be nothing wrong with this.

Taking notes during the match is allowed:smile:,
Having an open (concealed) book at world's is not:nonono:.

I know you well enough Gino to know that you do not need one of these:cool:.
You are a heck of a player:thumb:.

Just talk you moves out like Rainman. "5 minutes to Wapner....."

Chess players are not allowed to carry "notes" into an important match.

Why should Pokemon (which is infinitelly simpler, btw) allow it?

Say I wrote "PLACE PRIZES" on my Mentors and Trans' at worlds (I'm not playing but) would I be allowed since as moza stated, writing is allowed as long as it doesn't interfere w/readability of the text?

I'm sure that would be considered as a special circumstance (though I don't know if it would be ok or not). It isn't words are ok or they aren't. Judges can read.

Wasn't there a situation in Canada were a guy got DQ'd or a prize penalty because he had some reminders written on his hand? Like, "stay focused. pay attention." whatever.

I mean it is Canada (not sure what rules they go by/whatever) but still, along the same lines...

My sour grapes do not lie with ME not going to worlds, they lie with SKILLED players missing worlds, while lucky/undeserving players/players who think they are good but really aren't, going in their place.

Remembering how to play your deck is just as important as learning how to play it in the first place.
I support the decision that these aren't allowed.

You are allowed to take notes, and your opponent may look at them anytime.

So yes, after you do a deck search, you could figure out what's in your prizes and
right it down.

According to what you quoted, this is not allowed.
10.Note Taking
Players are allowed to take notes durng a game in respect to actions that have happened
during the game.Notes should be restricted to changes in the game state.Players must be
timely with their note-taking and may not use devices that may send or receive messages
as a note-taking device.Notes taken during a match may not be given to other players
during the course of the tournament.Notes taken during a match may be reviewed by
either player at any time during the match.
Finding out what you prized is not a change in game state.

to my understanding you can have regular nots on your hand like

"dont forget Prizes"

"dont forget to use this power"

etc etc

on your hand written down. it was somewhere in the "Ask The Masters" section. I will look up the thread after.

I dont see how that should differ from a wristband.

Also, not everyone has the best of memory when playing in a tough situation.
