Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

G&G, takes lots of skill, but works so well it looks like a noob deck.

Mabey some people say that because it is one of the most overused decks, and since they hate it they try to mock it. GG needs skill to play with(mabey not as much as ludicargo, dragtrode, lbs, etc) but it needs.

Same thing happened with mario, but on mario they were right, since there was no sychronisation between lucario and machamp.

...GG's DOESN'T need that much skill to play. I've played it myself, and it didn't take much of any thought behind the deck, it practically played itself. I don't see all the supposed "skill" that Gallade takes, even after playing it.

GaG takes absolutely no skill to play. Only thing you have to do is evolve and drop the energy on the right pokemon. If its weak, kill. If its large, push. Simple. :/

No, what he was referring to is how much skill it takes to play against Magmortar.

Magmortar is the testing deck, which is almost an autowin for the Magmortar player against a fair to poor Gardilade player.

Magmortar has definite trouble against a top tier Gardelade player.

You want to challenge your skills as a Gardelade player? Play against a FlygonEX/Banette Deck or some other variant.

TOUGH. Makes you think, winnable, but TOUGH.

Flygon ex d DF is an easy match-up (so is Flygon ex PK) but, straight Banette + other psychic Pokemon is hard (BanBliss is so easy). Magmortar/Fire TRUK is also hard but, easily winnable if the G&G list is amazing:)

I'm terrible at pokemon. I have beaten every G & G player that did not know what they were doing. You know who you are. I'm terrible at pokemon. I have lost to every G & G player that knew what they were doing. You know who you are.

I'm not going to claim to be a "high skillz" player ... but I will say that I'm a LOT better at playing G&G now than I was back when I first started testing before Cities. Knowing when to flip prizes and when not to ... knowing when to block powers ... knowing when to go for the quick early KO and subsequent disruption or for the steady setup. All that and more were not things that I picked up overnight. It took testing, playing, more testing, and more playing ... and I think that I'm still getting better at playing G&G.

Yes Gallade can bail you out of mistakes by OHKOing just about anything and Gardevoir's Telepass makes supporter misplays less punishing ... but just play the mirror or another good deck like Mags and skill suddenly is a much bigger issue.

I think that folks tend to analyze G&G vs. whatever random deck they happen to like and it just doesn't work that way right now IMHO. There are a very few really good cards in format that are significantly better than a lot of others. Gardevoir and Gallade are two of them. Only when you start putting them in the context of other similarly good cards in well constructed decks can you start making comparisons about what skill level it takes to play a given deck.

IMHO it takes little skill to play any deck but lots of skill to play any deck well. G&G is no exception. Its ability to smooth over mistakes in comparison to lower tier decks might give it the appearance of an “easy deck” but only in that context.

In related one of the things I do to see how complicated a deck really is in play is to see if my 6 & 8 year old sons can handle it. My 8 year old can handle G&G ... but has a much easier time with Magmortar and some other decks. It’s easier for him to think in terms of dumping lots of energy on a Mags and KOing stuff than it is to think in terms of prize control. He’s pretty good at sensing where to spread damage to but doesn’t always appreciate how devastating power lock can be.

It takes skill to play yes,but the stradegy is simple is what IM thinking. Magmortar is just better late game than G&G cuz G&G cant recover like Magmortar does so it depends on the situation it depends on what takes more skill to play.

G & G can actually be hard to play if you get to the late game against some decks. Knowing what to do and in a set time limit can be pretty tough. It isn't the toughest deck to play, but it isn't a T2 type easy deck either.

Everyone on the Single Card Strategy just can't help but talk about Gallade/Gardevoir. Whats the best starter, the best tech, does Flygon counter it,ect.

Theres another deck you guys should be worried about as well.. Magmortar. It will be played in high numbers and will take a good number of states.

As for how skilled one needs to be to use Gardy well, the deck is pretty straight forward. There are some difficult instances, but an average/mediocre player could prob play it with almost as much skill as a high tier player.

GG takes no skill to play it but if you want to be sucsessful it needs a lot of skill to win a lot of seriouse matchups. Magmortar on the other hand is a terrible deck unless someone skilled plays it who played it for a lot and had practice and a very good list. GG does need a very good list and a good playert to win a lot of hard matchups and games but it puts noob above the title of noob and can cause a problem for some serouse playsers.
