I think that it is well intentioned, but concider this: what stops people from going: "(insert crytic message here).................... " or something?

By the way, I'm going to use invisible messages in all my posts under 17 letters as protest.

Ok everyone, the invisible messages were funny at first now they are just spam.

Muscovy- Why use invisible messages? I have the "guts" to just come out and protest in any of my post that has under 17characters or less.

That pesky protest would be a rule 12 violation, yah?

Nothing. lol I love doing this

Actually, something prevents that, but let's digress before I tell you what prevents it.

We have a lot of folks flying around the board just going 'yup' and hitting post. Sure this limit inconveniences the clear and on target response that actually adds something to the discussion, but those are much rarer.

Add to the discussion with each post. Don't make your post into a vote on a poll (most people don't care if we agree/disagree with the previous poster, its not generally interesting and not to realize that is kind of big headed) or some cryptically short, hard to understand response (explain your point, not everyone is on your wavelength).

To answer the question: Padding such short responses with extra characters will generate warnings/infractions.

If all you are going to contribute to conversations are, "qft", "yup", or "lol", then we'd rather not even have them.

Also when someone makes a good point on a thread I like to go say "Good Point", "Aggreed", or "I second that".

So, those are all votes on someone else' post. Frankly, no one cares whether you or I agree with another poster.

If you want to agree and ADD something to the point, then great!

I see exactly why this was done. Sad though, I can't just say "Bumping post." anymore on my trade topic. But my question is, why 17 characters? That seems to be such a silly number!

With all due respect Gentleman, are you speaking for all of the pokegym population?

Sorry. It's gone.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

I think that it is well intentioned, but concider this: what stops people from going: "(insert crytic message here).................... " or something?

This is my main point!
I understand how good it would be to stop usless posts, but this just means they add in more ...... or ______ or something.

It is not silly. It holds its head up proudly. Look at it standing there, all respectable like. Many people like it better than 25 or 50 even. A handsome, trustworthy number. Don't pick on 17, just because he's a teen.

Sorry to go all 'Monty Python' on you, but that's as big a hint as I'll give. Let's just say it was well considered...

it is a pretty good idea, I have gone to other forums in the past that want you to post like four lines or more. That is like four sentences, or even more, I think I got banned once from a pokemon forum because I had the "least content" in my posts. The ban was supposed to be for 3 months it ended up for being around 6, i ended up getting unbanned later.
