Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What WILL Win States?

SP decks? I don't think many will win based on other decks such as gyarados. But, why not? Luxchomp seems to be going all out, so I bet we will see a few of those...

Ast least donphan cannot ohko t tar- but has anyone seriously tested jumpluff?

yes I have. A few conclusions I've drawn

- Pichu is a horrible starter, I might play one. The thing is, it just helps your opponent way, way to much to really be worth it.

- Sunflora< Shaymin. Sunflora is unnecessary, and shaymin is key.

I can defienetly picture jumpluff doing well. Sweeping states? No. Doing well? Absolutly!

Maybe this is my opinion, but I don't think Donphan will win any States. As long as Gyarados, Rain Dance decks, and Palkia G variants are popular, it will fail.

were going in circles. hands down its expected luxray, gyarados, gengar to win. but the luxchomp palkia lock matchup, its actually more even because of azelf and mesprit. i won against luxchomp by concentrating on these 2.

Lugia Legend/ Electivire FB is gonna win everything. That or Drapion X varients. Psychic weakness? Psh... I'll just TRIPOISON EVERYTHING!

I think all of yall are going to get shocked at what's going to win states. (pun intended)

 Nice one.

On topic, I am starting to loose faith in gengar/cursegar because regice, pokemon reversals, and a few other things just pick off those spiritomb way too easily. Besides, decks like gyarados don't use many trainers, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Ugh I still don't understand this- why is gyrados the play to beat luxchomp? If your arguement is that it can tech a 1-1 donphan, then please disregard my post, cause in all seriousness I don't see how it has a favourable matchup.

Luxray - 90 damage to gyarados with weakness. Gyarados, 90 - 110 + crobats to luxray. Owned.

oh so luxchomp doesn't run lucario gl anymore....

 You got me there - UNLESS Gyarados sets up faster. Gyarados, if its played right, sets up turn two. For you to have a luxray GL X out with energy and energy gain and a lucario turn two is pretty good.
PLUS, you have to think long term. Go ahead, knock out my gyarados/magikarp turn two. You'll just be helping me get those magikarp discarded.
AND, pokemon reversal and regice and cyclone energy help me snipe your lucario GL in addition to whatever uxies you might have on your bench.

Think about how many states tournaments there are.... tons of decks will win. You can't go into a tourney right now saying this beats everything. All you can really do is build the best deck you can, practice a ton and hope for some luck in the matchups... so seriously everyone should stop trying to guess what the deck will be because there are many.

This isn't like the year of plox.

I expect at least 7 different decks to win at least 1 states however I am sure there will be much more then 7.

What? You must have been playing some terrible Gyarados lists.

Gyarados runs 30+ Trainers/Supporters . . . what with all the SSUs, Rescues, Expert Belts, PokeTurns etc.

Of all the playable decks in the format, probably only Shuppet Donk runs more.

Thats not really what i meant. I meant that okay, for one, SSU and Poketurns are cards the deck can live without for a few turns. And, expert belts aren't all that neccessary at the beginning of the game because Gyarados sets up before most decks do and wipes out any basics/stage ones unless you are battling SP, which doesnt use spiritomb anyway. As for pokemon rescues, PEOPLE USE COMBEES TOO!
