Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What WILL Win States?

So that means they attach a Gain and do 120 for two with Luxray, which you KO with Croak. They attach Gain and DCE/Lightning and do 80 plus a Crobat drop on Croak. They don't really need to worry about Power Spray, either, since they don't need to Bright Look your Palkia up. It's the main attacker, remember?

The only reason Palkia was close to even with Luxape/Blazeray was because it hit half of that for weakness, combined with all the little techs. You don't hit half of Luxchomp for weakness, and there's DCE to get around Downer Material.

In The turns you are using or attaching DCE and a Lightning Energy to Luxray or Garch, you'll be: Power Locked, Downer Material, and being hit hard. Not to mention a Toxicroak on the bench. If you can beat all of this, great job.

Also, the game also really depends on how the setup is in the beginning. Palkia can get a pretty good start most of the time. In Lux/Garch, you really mainly need Lux or Garch as ur starter.

I agree, I don't see how Palkia/Luxray beats LuxChomp consistently. I feel that you are right on this. I just see Palkia getting destroyed. You might get a few prizes but you are not going to end up taking 6 against it,.

I'm running shuppet donk, and I don't see that on the list, and I'm winning.

You're delusional. I'm sorry, but the fact is, it's good to set your goals high, but if you can win with Shuppet Donk, then I am fairly certian a lot of us will be shocked and giving you, your kudos for winning.

I'm going to use this post for the above post but insert salamence into the space where shuppet donk was. I'm not trying to be rude, but saying you win doesn't convince anybody without proof.

Someone should just make a thread.. what WON'T win states.
This thread has officially been won.

Guys, this isn't "what deck will win". Much rather, its "who has the biggest ego for their deck"

IMO, the following list is a list of the top contenders (in no order):

  • Jumpluff
  • LuxBlaze
  • Dialga Wall
  • Palkia G
  • Gengar varients
  • Donphan
  • Gyarados
  • Plox (I guess)
  • Flygon varients
  • Other (rogue)

lol i wasnt trying to be cocky lol i just dont like bringing what everyone else brings...makes me feel wierd.

Gardy is about a turn too slow on average to be a real competitor.

Feraligatr is fast, but it gets smacked by pretty much anything that can quickly Power-lock (Ampharos or Mesprit) or Trainer-lock (anything that relies on Tomb). My version is pretty consistent T2 120+ damage with swarm and draw. Once it gets set up with one G8r and 2 Claydol (yes, the 2 Dol are necessary), it's VERY tough to beat consistently.

personally would love some random deck to come out and sweep a few states i.e a deck people have kept under cover but yeh it wont happen :(

I can't play any states this year... so... that's unlikely :frown:

( LOL! just kidding )

States is VERY interesting because the REAL teams (the ones that keep their ideas underwraps) will unlease a few new ideas on everyone.

We will see:

-- Existing decks that are built in a different way.
-- NEW decks that are built around cards from the newest set (that noone is prepared for)
-- OLD giants that are too consistent to leave the scene.

I think that anyone who tries to rock an old trick (i.e. shuppet, gliscortomb) will find themselves missing the cut (or losing in it if they're very good).

There are TOO MANY COUNTERS. So, it makes sense that those decks that haven't made enough of a presence to warrant a counter will be most successful.

If I HAD to guess...

I'm thinking two good pokes combined that you haven't seen together yet.
