Sleeves.

Garchomp sleeves are absolute garbage, the backs peeled off mine almost immediately. The Gigas sleeves are good, as are the Dusknoir sleeves... but the Lucario sleeves are the king.

I always use Dark Blue KMCs, they are by far the best I've used, Celebi Pre Release Sleeves have also been very good so far surprisingly enough, no rips/tears/bent corners at all.

What kind of ultra pros are you guys talking about? I have gotten a couple sets of the ultra pros that come with deck boxes and have been horribly disappointed with them. are we talking about the same sleeves?

I think they mean the ones you get in 50ct packs and are kinda rough on the backs. They make shuffling SOOOOO much better and smoother.

I dunno what other people mean. I'm talking about the ones that come in packs of 100 and have 'MADE IN JAPAN' on them.

Oh, ok.

I don't like that either.

The worst thing with sleeves that get sticky is they smell completely gross too. Like someone threw up on them.

Yeah, Ultra Pro ones with rough backs do well...but they get bent corners easily; mnd you you tend to use one set per tournament, excluding maybe BRs. X number of rounds will wear any sleeves. I use the Dragon Shield now for testing extensively. Although I never noticed funny smells? I wash my hands regularly etc. but never had smells coming from sleeves?

Kinda off topic here but..
Which are the best Pokemon Sleeves from Japan?

Edit.
You shouldn't be smelling your sleeves anyways...

Well I don't smell my sleeves, it's in answer to other posts lol.

I heard the Shaymin Japanese ones were good? Otherwise idk. It's expensive importing Japanese sleeves for collecting, let alone tournament use!!:thumb:

Dude scratch and sniff pokemon sleeves. I can see the ads now.

Starting in the Black and White era of the Pokemon TCG players will recieve a set of SPECIAL Scratch and Sniff Pokemon Sleeves. Now you can find out what your favorite pokemon smells like every time you shuffle.

(Little kid with sleeves)-AWESOME My Skuntank sleeves smell like rotten fish mixed with week old garbage. Thanks Pokemon.

(Random Older player)- You wanna know what my Gastly sleeves smell like? They smell like VICTORY. well that and a weird kinda Hickory/Mapel smoke.

(Ad Guy)- Make sure you buy yours NOW!!!!

I've used the Arceus ones from japan and Those lasted nearly 2 years..
would the shaymins last around that long?
at @AOTF

Just Imagine the Muk and Swalot Sleeves

ALL the Japanese ones are good.

The worst PR sleeves are SV. Split constantly.
The MD ones bend easily for some reason.
SF and LA are pretty simply made and pretty durable.

IMO the worst are the HS series I barely got a week out of the UD's
and the others started peeling almost instantly in the first few games

At a Great Encounters pre-release I opened the pack of Darkrai sleeves, and 17 of them had open bottoms. Anyone else have that problem?

My experience so far is that there is a range of quality in the Ultrapro brand. Some are definitely better than others. KMC sleeves seem to be much more consistent from pack to pack and across colors.

UltraPro:
- Powder white: really like this sleeve. very clean, easy shuffle and lasts pretty well. like all ultrapro, the sizes can range even within the same pack
- Tsunami blue: not bad but seems to run large or there is a really big range in width - sometimes the cards are swimming in the sleeve.
- Canary yellow: similar to the powder white so far
- Matte series: only used one pack of black and felt similar to the powder white
- in general I feel like the ultrapro resists bending but has a tendency to rip easier than KMC. Also, the corners may have a bend to them and sometimes the edges don't seem as cleanly 'finished' as the japanese sleeves. overall I think they're a good value. I sleeves my kids cards in these for the most part and replace ones that rip.

KMC:
- Super Gold/Silver/Blue: they look great - clean, sharp edges, solid feel, shiny. they look and feel more luxurious than the ultra pro. they shuffle differently too since they are kind of glossy. i don't shuffle hard so these sleeves have held up great. my kids don't prefer these since they have smaller hands and 'stuff' shuffle which leads to these sleeves bending at the edges (as opposed to ultra pro ripping)
- Matte series: haven't tried
- overall good consistent quality and more snug fit on the cards. also like the fact that there are 80 sleeves in each pack rather than 50 like some others including ultrapro.

Both kids and I shuffle our decks a lot but never had the sticky/smelly sleeves experience some posted above...and hopefully never will.

I think my favorite are Dusknoir sleeves. back when they came out i used them for many tournaments and there still good for league play.

A note on Dragon Shields: In my experiences, all the colors except red and brown are made no better than the HGSS sleeves.

The brown ones in particular are like steel.

The Japaneses ones are really all the same, but definitely better than the American ones.

matte black KMC's ftw

i also had a set of white dragonshields that have lasted TWO seasons, but are extremely dirty (not from hand gunk, but the dirt off of tables they accumulate easily). I cleaned them right before an event and by the 5th roudn they were dirty again.

KMC's are pretty nice - always a good buy in my opinion. I've used them a good bit, but not as much as Dragonshield and Ultra Pro.

Dragonshields are also nice if you want a set of sleeves that will last. I had a set of pink and purple dragonshileds that lasted for quite awhile - I remember the pinks lasting for nearly the entire season.

I've also had a set of ultra pro yellow sleeves that lasted from States of 06 to Worlds of the same year. That is really good for a set of ultra pros imo. My only real qualm with this brand is the white set of sleeves they make - they seem to make two different shades of white.
