Sleeves.

The other GOOD ones (Rotom, Gigas, Dusknoir) are going to cost you AT LEAST $10-15 (if you are lucky) and as even those are +2 years old, they are still not easy to get.

If you just want good sleeves, it's cheaper/easier to buy non-Pokemon ones.

i got the dusknoir ones when they came out.

Thanx anyway.

Personally, while I don't have too much to say about the prerelease sleeves, I do have to give props to the simple black Professor sleeves. I've ordered a bunch for both my Pokemon decks and my Magic the Gathering 100-card decks, and in the year+ I've been shuffling them up, I'd not had a one split, tear, or turn to crap. In fact, the only minor gripe about them that I would come out and say is that they're too tall, which causes the top corners to bend rather often (I was used to the KMC Perfect Fits before). If they can shrink the size of the sleeve to be just slightly bigger than a Perfect Fit, I'd never use a different sleeve again.

Yeah, KMC Mat Series and Ultra Pro Mat sleeves are good to have on hand if you are asked to resleeve before or during a tournament.

KMCs always. Dragon Shields get dirty so easy.

By dirty do you mean scratch marks etc on the backs? I've been using Dragon Shield and basic Ultra Pro for some time now and find the Dragon Shield to be good for shuffling quickly and can take some mashing without going bad...although I haven't tried KMC yet?

KMC's are REALLY clean and shuffle smooth, not to mention feel great to play on a good playmat. -> And they're pretty much indestructible

nooo, I've noticed this too...
Dragon Shields get, like... icky hand nastieness all over the back of them.
I much prefer Ultra Pros. My Black Ultra Pros have been in business since... April? And they are still squeaky clean and lovely.

If that is what you were talking about. That's why I don't like smooth sleeves- they get icky.

So . . . I change my sleeves before every Tournament (except maybe for BRs). That's because I don't want ANY issues with marking/corners/peeling etc.

Because of this I tend to stick to relatively cheap sleeves like Ultra Pro.

So . . . my question is: given that I am very fussy about the condition of sleeves, does buying KMC or Dragonshield make sense? Can I give them a rough time during a tournament and expect them to pass a sleeve check the next week?

Oh, ok.

I don't like that either.

The worst thing with sleeves that get sticky is they smell completely gross too. Like someone threw up on them.

yesssssss. And I use lotion a lot to keep my hands lady-fresh and pleasant, which will mess them up even quicker. So unless you use a lot of hand sanitizer to keep your hands totally dry and clean, they're going to get pretty mucky.

Ultra Pros are by far the best IMO. I had the same ones for the entire time I played Kingdra (1.5 years) without a single complaint. I had to buy Player's Choice recently and while still pretty good they do develop fingernail markings on the back. Solid color Ultra Pros last a very long time and have a good feel.
