Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Format Change for Next Year - Possible Change for Nats and Worlds!

Oh, another fun note, whether they rotate early or not, this means that the format come Sept. 1 is going to be HGSS-on. Have fun testing.

They're kidding, right?

Well, there goes my idea of using Charizard AR next year.... :nonono:

The post never stated it was HGSS-on.

It only stated "we may rotate some older sets out of the Modified format earlier in the year than the typical September 1st rotation date." Nowhere does it say that any Platinum sets will be rotated out. I'm willing to bet that the format is RR-on now, whereas before I thought it would be SV-on. I'm sure Charizard will be in full effect with Emboar next Rotation.

Good luck setting up Two stage 2 Pokemon in the next format with no BTS and Rare Candy Nerfed, and plenty of Trainer Lock. Just sayin'..........

I'm kinda confused.

Are they going to rotate to HGSS on before or after nats?

If battle roads turn out to be a total donk fest, then it will probably happen.

It clearly states that after September 1st, its going to be HGSS-on.

AMAZING political move by OP. I am very impressed. Should they not rotate, they can successfully cite the players' own BR results as evidence this was no more than hype. Should they rotate, they now have a tangible way to justify to the consumers that there was a worthwhile reason for doing so.

Bravo, OP.

The next Modified format will include expansions from HeartGold & SoulSilver to the present.

??? The post does state so...

A good start but our nats will have b/w and will be before that date, please do something about that as well.
I've already been in touch with international TOs and distributors over the last few weeks and have suggested that they not allow BW cards or rules in their Nationals events.

The Official site says . . .

The next Modified format will include expansions from HeartGold & SoulSilver to the present. Under normal circumstances, this rotation would take effect September 1st, 2011. However, should we deem it necessary to maintain a healthy competitive environment, the rotation would take effect on July 1st instead. The final decision will be announced in early June.

So yeah . . . HGSS-on

Once again, brilliant way of dealing with this situation. I'm really impressed by the way this situation has been handled, as opposed to the debacle that seemed to be coming.

Oh man, I really wish that I new what older sets they would rotate out for Nats if they do. My hope RR-on, because I can still play the deck I want to play.

Amazing how people can't read the first post correctly but jump on to posting so quickly...

Wow guys! Really on the ball as always! This is why I love this game so much... great gameplay and organizers who watch numbers and really care about players.

My only question is "Where is the bar?" What are you guys watching? Is it top 4 results for each division? Moreover, what is the number you are looking for? Is it just if too many sabledonk are winning, then ban, or do you guys have numbers to look for? What % of decks have to be sabledonk to convince you all that it is worth rotating?

Also, part of the problem created by this is that it rewards players for playing the problem. As shown by Box's sig, players are now rewarded for playing with "the enemy deck" to help create a clean nationals. Obviously, this is a small sacrifice when looking at nats, but it will skew the data quite a bit. I have already talked to many people who I know would never normally play sabledonk... but they are now because of this thread. Just sayin' ;D

Hm! Biggie! A question! Can the Nationals TO have the rights to ban ONE card only? As in...Sableye SF only?

Danke!

Just realized this will also dramatically increase Battle Road attendance. The brilliance of this decision far exceeds my expectations. Thank you for a job well done, OP.

Think about how interesting the games will be at Nationals, with a format that is just 7 days old...

I'm curious as to how exactly they would like us to prove its a bad format. Are the constant threads ranting against it not enough? Have we failed to speak up against it in proper proportion? Or do they actually advocate a battle roads season where everyone is encouraged to play sabledonk? If so what is the motivation to even attend the event? The complaint remains The same from the rotationless nats threads, losing points to the donk and attending an extremly boring event has no appeal to a large base of players. What more exactly do we have to do to prove this. I say quit lollygagging and flipflopping and just institute the changes now.

Yes yes I read that. But the thing that is sorta confusing for me is this
To provide a fun, positive tournament experience for all Play! Pokémon members, we may rotate some older sets out of the Modified format earlier in the year than the typical September 1st rotation date.

The thing I don't see is, will they rotate just some out for Nats? Or all up to HGSS?
