Pokémon Organized Play has developed a Modified format to encourage a diverse and vital competitive environment.

With the release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Black & White expansion later this month, players will see some changes to the TCG rules. With so many different cards interacting with the new rules, Pokémon Organized Play will be taking extra care to ensure the competitive environment remains as fun and fair as it has always been for our players.

To provide a fun, positive tournament experience for all Play! Pokémon members, we may rotate some older sets out of the Modified format earlier in the year than the typical September 1st rotation date.

The next Modified format will include expansions from HeartGold & SoulSilver to the present. Under normal circumstances, this rotation would take effect September 1st, 2011. However, should we deem it necessary to maintain a healthy competitive environment, the rotation would take effect on July 1st instead. The final decision will be announced in early June.

Please note that some Premier events in Europe may not incorporate rules and cards from the Pokémon TCG: Black & White expansion. Contact your local event organizers to confirm which expansions will be allowed.

Thank you for your understanding throughout this process! Pokémon Organized Play strives to keep players as up-to-date as possible to help you be best prepared to perform at your peak at every Pokémon TCG event.

Who doesn't see an early rotation happening? Get in your donks at Battle Roads while you still can...

A good start but our nats will have b/w and will be before that date, please do something about that as well.

At leat worlds will be alright, thats a good start although with this it looks like europe will become the guinea pig for rotation which isnt a good idea. Hope something gets done about this. Otherwise this is seriously awesome and Im really happy they finally anounced something =) Now its up to us to show them :)

Great news for NA players, but unfortunally, it doesn't help Europe. Seem's like we can have this format only at Worlds, and the trip is given out in a luck-based format. =(

But anyway, I'm happy P!P once again listens to the voices of the players and does something about the issue.

this is as bad as the new grinders:mad:
Wait... you live in the US and complain?!
That's like... well, there's nothing to compare with.

Hope they can do something about European Nats - like give the organisers the choice of setting a HGSS-on format or not using BW rules.

But it does look like P!P is listening and is prepared to act. That's bloody awesome and they deserve a ton of credit for it.

Thank you!

HGSS-on is great news in itself.

I think there's going to be some sort of compromise for European players. Of course, as is the nature of any compromise it's going to make everyone mad.

I'm kinda confused.

Are they going to rotate to HGSS on before or after nats?

To sum up, P!P has heard the cries of frustrated players and gone to the mattresses for us in an attempt to avoid what everyone and their grandma knows is a terrible format. The way they did so was by setting an early rotation date, but they're not sure if they can do it yet because they need proof before the powers that be agree to it. Instead of making Nats the testing ground, they're using Battle Roads, so we need to show the people who ultimately make that decision on whether we're going to rotate early that it needs to happen for the good of the game.

tl;dr Play Sabledonk at Battle Roads so we can get a HGSS-on format early.

I am rallying my country to get our opinion to get Sableye SF banned and still have MD-on for our Nationals.

:D
