Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Format Change for Next Year - Possible Change for Nats and Worlds!

I've already been in touch with international TOs and distributors over the last few weeks and have suggested that they not allow BW cards or rules in their Nationals events.

Our nats are at the begnning of june and im confident we will have bw cards legal. But what Id really love to know, are TOs/is amigo allowed to decide to do the hgss-on rotation earlier as well? Im happy with the way it is now but the fact remains that even with no bw rules the format is extremly boring and stale.

And looking at the fct that hgss-bw with NO CATCHER! is probably the best format we had for the last 4 years and looks like the best format in a long time Id love for nationals to be hgss-on. Seriously, this would get me so hyped up, playing in an entirly new format with no stupid sp around and no catcher to bring back memories of sp.

Even without that it will definitly improve nats but the fact that the us will have legit nationals while we still have to play with the old sp crap around and an incredibly stale format seems really unfair and frustrating.

Anyway, Im looking forward to worlds like Ive never done before, please let me look forward to nats in the same way :) This is a great decision, dont rob the european countrys of the possibility to play in the most healthy metagame possible

So, instead of banning ONE card, they're going to ban 3 sets that have been out for LESS THAN 2 YEARS?!?! :nonono:

It's not just about one card, it's about an entire format dominated by speed getting even faster with first turn trainers. Nowhere in the announcement does P!P mention anything about one card (Sableye). Without Sableye, we would still have issues with first turn donks (SP, Gyarados, Machamp, etc. are ALL crazy with 1st turn trainers).

I'm confused.

If they chose to rotate will it be hgss-on or anything below that they chose to keep?

How will TPCi determine what action to take based on the results? People are saying that if everyone plays the deck then it won't matter.

How will TPCi determine why someone chose the deck? I've provided arguments in the other threads that basically say the competitive player will choose the deck that gives him the best chance of winning.

The best decks in the format are played so much because they win so much. They win so much because they're played so much. The two go hand in hand. I fail to see how TPCi will determine whether the deck was played because everyone wants the format change, or because the deck is a legitimate choice for the competitive player to make.

And who says TPCi is just looking for Sabledonk? It will be much more compelling to show them that there are multiple decks contributing to the poor health of the format instead of just one donk deck.

It's our job to show TPCi that the format is in a very unhealthy state, not to show them how well we can all donk at BRs.

Thanks Biggie! Now, can you petition to have this day commemorated as a federal holiday?

HGSS-on is the next format. The best move.

Will it be on 7/1 or 9/1? I hope for 7/1. Sabledonk won't be the problem, but every deck having to play Sableye will be.

If they do decide to rotate to hgss-on on 7/1, it will be the best decision they've ever made imo.

I was playing a game of League of Legends when this announcement came over my Skype. We were losing. The instant I heard this, I charged head long into a team fight with my allies behind me, destroying their side. You have NO idea how excited I am to see a diverse metagame possibly returning to this game.

P!P. I love you guys right now. PLEASE give us this HGSS-on for nats!

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! I was counting on RR on for my floatzel gl! Why oh why oh why? This totally scraps all of my deck plans. Good bye, Giratina/Dusknoir damage spread, Flyhippo Elite, and the deck I have spent all my time, effort, cards (in trading), and money on, Kingdra/floatzel rush. :frown::frown::frown::frown::frown:. Thanks for ruining all of my hopes and dreams in all of Pokemon Organized Play, P!P. You might have just made a new enemy for the time being.

Bad call, P!P:nonono:

Sure Luxray, Garchomp C, Gengar, Vileplume, and Sableye etc. were getting out of hand, but that doesn't mean they have to do a double rotate! There are still people who care about the Spirit of the Game, even in this format. Not everything donks. Only people who would rather make angry a few players and become a faceless meta player for a high number on some standings. Even so, there is something to counter every bad card. At states, only half of the games were SP or donk. The other half consisted of honest, skillful, creative, red face powders. Same with my brother when he played. The format is not as bad as some people think.
Thanks for reading my rant about this garbage.:thumb:

HS-on?!?!?! I sorta like this idea and in some ways I don't.

Good:
Opens room for new cards.

Bad:
Good cards will be lost.

Thanks for mentioning that. Yes, it seems, even if not officially announced, that TPCi/P!P is rotating twice as many sets this time.

I have hope that we won't have any rotations in 2012 (HAH, if the world survives that is). HGSS-on for 2 years would be really health in my opinion.

Better get your hopes curshed now by an announcement then from going extremly bad at nats.

I know not going RR-on sounds weird but you have to look at it like that: Japan has HGSS-on and all cards released will be made for a hgss-on format. If something from RR-on turns out to be totally broken there will be no fix for that. ANd Charizard / Expert Belt / Arceus are prime candidates for turning out to be broken. Id love to keep my flygons for one more year, I absolutly love this card, Id also love to use my nidoqueen, my spiritomb, my BEBES SEARCH! for one more year. But for the health of this game this should be an easy sacrifice.

If this happens im done with pokemon all these useless cards and i wont even have a decent deck for deck for Nats. This is stupid just bann the card creating all the fuss SABLEYE!!!!!

OMG!! Are you serious dude!? This is a perfect example right here that you can't satisfy everyone. Everyone was threatening to "quit" the game if SP and Sableye were in the format with the new rules and now that we finally have a chance to prevent that, someone like you says they will "quit" if they do cycle out. I'm pretty sure alot of people are more for cycling out then they are for keeping this format the way it is right now.

Gosh its 5 in the night and Im about to just get up and build some decks because I have like a billion idead popping up right now. I have like, a year worth of surpressed creativity °_O

Hey, if you all want to have this format, play Sabledonk for BRs.

Show them how bad you WANT the format to be.

Just giving info here.
