Worlds 2012?

Would Love to Schedule Way In Advance

I think I already know the answer to this question...but...

Is there anyway to figure our what days the 2012 World Championship tournament will be held?

I know of other families that have said that if they are unable to go to worlds they may stop playing all together.

Gee, sorry to hear that. Why should that matter so much?

My family's never been to Worlds and we only live about 4 hours drive from San Diego. Usually something (financial or otherwise) always seems to come up right before Worlds that prevents us from being able to attend. However, with that said, Pokemon is still a great game and we participate because it's a great game: our enjoyment/participation is not predicated on being able to go to Worlds or not.

I do agree, Hawaii is out of the question though, but we'll still enjoy playing all year and maybe when it returns to San Diego, we'll be able to go then :thumb:

I'll admit that for the European players a Hawaiian worlds is really rough. But to all the east coast players you should feel lucky that most of the US Nationals have been on the east coast, mostly in the midwest and just a car drive away. I think it is fair to us players from the west that we can at least have worlds near by even if we would have to grind in without an invite.

Okay to help solidify my point I did my research and here are the locations to the past 7 US Nationals.

2011 Indianapolis, Indiana
2010 Indianapolis, Indiana
2009 St. Louis, Missouri
2008 Columbus, Ohio
2007 Columbus, Ohio
2006 Columbus, Ohio
2005 Columbus, Ohio

I know I haven't played competitvely for long and these locations didn't affect me at all but that is just too unfair. I think it is about time to have one closer to the Pacific Ocean.

I'm so happy it's at Hawaii, trips to there by flights are only 300 per person i'm so happy, I will actually be able to go next year! :] Also it'sprolly cheap for me cause i'm canadian.

dude... where in canada are you from because its still pretty expensive.

Worlds 2013- Vancouver,BC xD

No but hawaii is a bit to extreme for most of us players. I know that TONS of japanese players go down, so its relativeky fair i guess that if there are only the two then they swap back and forth. places i would like to see worlds be at are:

Vancouver BC
(insert canadian province here :p)
Newyork
las vegas xD

Worlds in Vancouver would be so awesome! Only place it can be better for me is if it were in Seattle.

If this is in Hawaii again, please spring for playing on-location near a volcano. Top cuts near a fiery inferno of lava; the heat is on!

If it was the cartoon they'd be doing it.

I think they try and centralize nats

I think they try and centralize nats

"Before you read, just know that I'm not in an angry mood while posting this. This post may seem that I am in a whinny mood as well. I'm just trying to get a point across"

That doesn't seem very central to me. I know that having Nats in the Ohio/Indiana is good because they have a lot of people that play in a more concentrated area but what about California. One of the most populous meta-games and the only state that has TWO different Regional championships. I just think it'll be fair to rotate between different parts of the states, including Florida another state with a high number of players.

So after you are done reading this I want you to think of one thing. What part of the country is considered to be the hardest place to play with the best players around. The Mid West (MW). Think how these locations have affected the entire communities opinion of the MW compared to other regions. It is not coincidental that the MW has some other the better players because they have Nats right in their back yard, just a drive away. While most of the country has to fly or sit at home and not everyone can afford to fly. They get the experience to play or at least have the opportunity to play every year and in this "sport" and all others competitive sports, experience is priceless.

Now think of this. If Nats was in California every year don't you think that don't you think that most of the games most recognizable figures would be from the California/Oregon/Arizona/Nevada/Washington area? And how many MW players would actually be able to go to a Californian Nationals every year? Not many.

So to finish off I want to apologize to anyone I offended or annoyed. Like I said in the first stanza I am only trying to make a point to why it is unfair the last 7 Nats have been at either: St. Louis, Indianapolis or Columbus. I would also like to say that I don't want to Nationals to be in California the next 7 years, that wouldn't be fair to everyone on the east coast and I am a person who believes in equality. I simply want the location for Nats to alter between the two areas so everyone can be happy. I also now this is a Worlds 2012 topic but this did start out as that for me. I feel the exact same way for the Worlds location believing that they should alternate between the US, Japan and Europe.

As most people pointed out Hawai is tough for most Europeans, whats worse is that our country (Malta) doesn't even have paid trips to worlds :(

How dare you complain about not getting nationals when California has had MORE then any other locatation. (05, 06, 09, 11) In fact thats half of all held championships! Not only that, excluding Hawaii California is the closest to the worlds in Hawaii. Sure you'll still need to fly, however you also get the cheapest flights out there. Thats brings the total up to 6/8.

Californians, more specifically southern Californias are spoiled! If anywhere, NE needs some Nationals / Worlds love

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I totally agree with this post. You get the huge advantage for going to Worlds, yes you whine about not having Nats. I could live with NE, but I don't see it since they want to keep it central in the country. Personally, I love it in the mid-west :)biggrin: Not because I live there...OK, maybe it is) but could live with NE since they've never had it. Pokemon wants to make it fair for everybody on both coasts. therefore, they put it in the mis-west.

Cal already gets Worlds, they do not need Nats.

i dont think worlds will ever be held outside of us because of the commercial site of it.As stated in threads of previous years concerning worlds the PCI has a contract with the hilton hotels for a few years in advance,so i think that the location is determined for +5 years already.unless some miracle happens worlds will stay in the usa

The problem is Worlds has been exclusively held in the US since the inception of the game. If the locations rotatated between Europe/Japan/North America each year then there would be far less of an issue.

Lets see....TCPi is in the USA. They run Organized Play and have set up the Championships, providing prizes for all. I guess they ought to get to choose the locale.

Also, all of you clamoring for a worlds in Japan, Europe, etc., please think of the expense to just get a hall and all the equipment to said location. Can you say "budget buster"??? I knew you could!

I'd love to see Worlds in different locales, but I understand the economics on TPCi also.

Yeah, because dragging all of that stuff to Hawaii is so inexpensive.

But seriously, I get what you're saying, and I understand that Europe or Japan would be too hard, but what about the east coast? Flights from Europe would be cheaper. Japan would have a harder time, but I'm not saying that they should stop holding Worlds in Hawaii either.

Hawaii-California-Miami?

If you would've read the whole thing you would've saw that I was also against Worlds being in a few select areas. You would've also realized that I am in favor of a rotation between many areas. Not for California to have Worlds and Nationals every year. I do believe that the only reason you are arguing with me because I commented about your ungratefulness of The Top Cut's "live" coverage. Don't lie you knew it was me when you left that comment. We got off on the wrong foot and I don't want to have any bad blood between us. I'm going to send you a PM in hopes that we can be friends not foes. Oh and I can't just go fly to the MidWest for Nats because I have a 3 yr old daughter to take care of. What do you expect me to do with her while I'm playing in a tournament at Indy. In California I have family that'll be more than willing to watch her while I play. I do have some personal reasons why i think California>Midwest but I do believe I have legitimate reasons.

PS-Californians are pretty spoiled with Worlds right in there back yard but it is the only feasible location for a Nationals in the west. If it were up to me I would have it in Seattle xD

If you would've read my post I said I had a problem with the locations for worlds too. I don't think they should be in California and Hawaii every single year and I definitely don't think they should get Worlds and Nats in the same year as well.

I don't get a huge advantage at all. I'm don't even live in California. I am a full-time single father and I can't just go "Hey lets spend a $1000+ and go play in California and if I get eliminated in the first round of LCQ oh well it doesn't mattter." So Worlds in California is pretty useless for me unless I have an invite. Also, if I'm going to spend that kind of money I want to be able to get a good amount of playing time in and the only chane that'll happen for me is if I get an invite. So while you get to go to Nats every year and play, I have to play extremely well throughout the whole year to justify spending that money to go to the event on my side of the country.

You both should've read the last part of my previous comment and realized I wasn't a supporter of how they decided the locations for both Worlds and Nats and not assume I was being greedy and wanted them both in California.

I miss East Coast Worlds... :<

You guys are overdue for one and I'm all for a East Coast Worlds as long as there is a West Coast Nationals.

Sorry for mis-interpreting you. Really should've read just a little bit closer.

Sorry
