Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds 2012?

I've heard that too.

I want one in Ohio, there are so many good players there...
Even though that would be amazing for me, they'd probably never do that. They only put Worlds in places that have other things to do like swimming, etc...

I'm gonna see if I can go to Worlds next year, but I'll just ask to go "as a vacation". I don't see it happening though, lol.

I'm so happy it's at Hawaii, trips to there by flights are only 300 per person i'm so happy, I will actually be able to go next year! :] Also it'sprolly cheap for me cause i'm canadian.

loool.hawaii again.8000 euros for plane tickets for 1 person only.luckily we dont have op anymore in Slovenia so there is slim to little chance of getting worlds invite and no chance of getting a trip like it has been for the last decade lol

People will complain about anything, Hawaii is a great place to have a world championship event and as some people in this thread seem to forget, the world doesn't revolve around them, there are a lot of countries that have an easier time getting to Hawaii then some random place in the middle of the states. I for one am delighted by this news and am happy that even though I couldn't make it to SD this year due to it being out of the way and too expensive, I'll almost definitely be at Hawaii next year.

I'm so happyaswell,do you live in canada?

Hawaii is a great place to hold Worlds, obviously, as it is one of the ultimate tropical areas. I think Pokemon should go back to giving out more trips, no where near the extent of Gym Challenges, but maybe for like Regionals winners. Like, take away the paid trip to nats and byes and give them an invite and trip to worlds. Seems like a good idea to me, anyways.

How about something like actually impressive for pokemon like in a huge city.
Here would be my top picks:
1. New York City, New York, USA
2. Tokyo, Japan
3. London, England
4. Berlin, Germany
I'm pretty sure that if you can get to Hawaii, you can get to any of these.

Its just annoying to those of us who'd like to experience Worlds for once and not have to spend a fortune due to being poor college students. 1500 dollars a plane ticket is not in my best interest, EVEN with a school refund check. It almost seems like a waste to save it unless you're guaranteed in, since the LCQ then shows you wasted that amount only to lose in round 1.

I'm not saying I want it in my state (Ohio), but someplace that doesn't cost half of my life would be nice.

I'm sorry, what country, apart from Japan (and maybe Australia/NZ), has "an easier time" getting to Hawaii? The vast majority of the players come from both the USA and Europe, both of which are much better off with Worlds on the mainland of the USA.

Now I understand that "Worlds in Hawaii" is a great selling point cos it sounds great and everything, so I understand that point of view. But I will bet you that on average, a Pokémon player will spend hundreds of dollars more on a plane ticket to get there. I for one would be spending 1500 USD instead of 1000 USD to fly from The Netherlands to Hawaii, instead of San Diego.

Rumor has it FL also ruled out because August is in the middle of hurricane season.

That is one factor but not the only one.

The 'powers that be' find the weather in Florida in August to be too hot as well.

Unless they decide to 'throw us a bone' every now and then you can expect the cycle to remain Hawaii/San Diego for now with a slight chance of Hawaii/West Coast US.

Hawaii

Well.. to be honest, I was really hoping for Orlando. We go to Disney every 3 years and that fell right into line with our next trip.

I guess it's not all bad -- -- My wife has been wanting to go to Hawaii and I wanted to take my son on a snorkeling trip this year, but wasn't able to. Perhaps we can roll it all in together.

Looks like I'll start saving (money and time off from work) now and see if we can get Morgan's rating up just a smidge higher (he finished 50th in NA this year)

Personally, I was kind of happy they did not announce "Japan"
